I've only been to America once, stayed by the John Hancock tower in Chicago and it was truly a great experience. I want to go back but I'm honestly scared... Personally I despise ISIL, and fail to wrap my head around what they actually believe in, because it is so distorted from true Islam and I tear up sometimes watching the news just because of the bad reputation that these savage disgraceful tyrants bring on to my religion and the repercussions that follow because of the inhumane acts they execute.

I think there have been 3 or 4 from my town that have actually joined this organisation and one actually was a few years older in the same school which I attend. The main cause these people join ISIL is because they do their own research on the internet and come up with their own conclusions on what to do which is often completely wrong. There are many people on the internet that claim the time for the 'holy war' has come and they prey on the vulnerable young muslims like myself to try and brainwash them so they can recruit them for their movement. (Information gaps/Information failure for any budding economists out there!)

So, to link it back to the original question, do you think that I'd have a hard time in America because of recent situations or are the majority friendly people that realise muslims on the media for acts of terrorism are much different from normal people who call themselves muslims.

This answer may have been repeated, but I'm not willing to check 4 pages of posts to find out...

The United States is a melting pot of all cultures, races, and ethnics. Racism is very exaggerated here. I've lived in the USA for my entire life, and as a half-Asian, I have only experienced racism towards me once. And it was a group of black females.

Now, if you're really scared of the racists, I suggest moving to one of the bigger cities, as they are more accustom to foreigners (LA, NYC, Chicago, Miami, etc).

In conclusion, you should be fine anywhere in the United States, and I genuinely do hope you come visit and experience our great country at least once more!

Houston, I was always wary of the south since studying race relations in the USA and the hostility shown by some people It was naive of me to think that all of the south was like that, ofc cities are gonna be much more diverse. The famous texas bbq ribs spring to mind, how are they? I'd be eager to try some of them(mouth wide open, eyes diluted due to the amazing taste)

I definitely want to travel, not only within the USA too but NYC has always been a dream of mine to go and visit, central park got me from the spiderman movies. After researching Houston however, it does seem like a viable option due to the amount of fortune 500 companies located within them. Even when I went to Chicago, it was a great atmosphere, the magnificent mile was pretty damn good.

the tx bbq is very good. the resraraunts are pretty much everywhere and they're all good.
