Guys guys, he posted one far away picture, save the praise for once it's released.
But, and I feel like i've asked this before, but where did you learn to draw Maple?

 

haha up close I've always liked to doodle so I learned drawing through drawing stuff myself mostly. Have relatives who draw as well so I've watched them as I got older I began to watch videos of other people draw too.
Edit: I guess you could count the art classes in school but those are bullshit.

Forlorn was a multi account I made a lot of smooth, artsy tracks on a YellowLizard account but wanted to start doing forest and nature stuff, so I made a new account but pretended to be new.

Maple has a lot of talent for being relatively new, so.

First tree I'm making that isn't dead. CC so far? I'm stuck on how to shade, never been good at it and usually always turns out messy.

 

Pretty good tree so far, I'd vary the leaf shapes more, they also could look a bit more attached to the branches, atm they look like they're floating.

 

The tree trunk looks great, but if you are doing 3d there needs to more branches coming out of the very front. Also the leaves need to cover the branches a bit and draw every single leaf isn't as effective as drawing the shape and a few leaves within it. The shading is looking really good so far, you may want to do a little bit of shadow on the ground as well.

 

Thanks! I put those floating ones there as space fillers for now. I was thinking of adding maple leaves but how I picture it in my head I don't think it'll look too well.

Hmm, never considered putting branches in the front but I think that will work, and shading is my biggest problem imo, never looks good to me and I always spend the most time erasing and covering up :s and thanks!

 

Just try it out, put a few maple leaves here and there, might look nice!

 

I agree, I test out different things when I detail, it doesn't hurt to try because you can just erase it if it doesn't look good.

 

Okay maple leaves was actually a very good idea...
