Question Vehicle changer power-up

Yeah this was just a quick prototype. As for keeping the speed, from a development perspective, its kind of a pain. It looks jerky due to the fact that the powerup was in the air. I think if you are to use the helicopter, its probably best to put the power up close to the ground. We do plan on putting some sort of 'flash' transition. Im not sure what it will be. Only time will tell.

 

Maybe a cloud or puff of smoke transition? I don't know why but this is what I thought of when you guys first mentioned a vehicle change power-up.

I haven't checked out this site for a long time. Looks like you haven't changed trending at all. I would really focus on that rather than this.

Anyway, I like the idea of having the old vehicles, but I don't like the idea of changing vehicle while playing the track. It just doesn't seem right to me.

 

Honestly haven't seen many complaints about trending. What do you expect to see in trending? The good tracks seem to always shine through. Also, if you guys can figure out the best algorithm for trending....let us know.

Anyways, we are focusing on what will impact the game the most. Changing the trending so that tracks that certain people want, doesn't help the average player. We have had this discussion so many times, trending changes from week to week. Sometimes its autos, sometimes its images, its just the way it seems to go. We are going to make it more custom soon tho.

Anyways, for those people who care. Been working a little more on the power up.
The actual look of the helicopter has not been started yet. I have just been working on making sure checkpoints work with it, and all that jazz.

 

Char you should try to make the helicopter vehicle look more realistic. I know that the video is a prototype but just a heads up the game would look to childish with the helicopter that you have going right now. It's a good idea and I am all for new vehicles especially the unicycle.

To be honest, I really don't like the idea of it being a powerup. I would much rather have it be like in FR2.

 

yes, also changing into a unicycle in air and landing is pretty hard

 

Then change into it on the ground.
This whole vehicle powerup thing just seems like a really bad idea to me.
You said that it would have less complications than just choosing a vehicle from the start, but I done see any possible way it could be less complicated. If people want to make a helicopter track, they should be able to make a track with the helicopter. Not one where they have to constantly hit powerups.

 

I agree, I want it to be like FR2. I miss the vehicles, but using them as powerups just seems... Goofy.

So, just let us choose from the beginning please.

Yeah, it is being built in a way that will allow for both options. This is a sandbox game, so we want to treat it as such.
