I know, I just realized that I also made that realization a few days ago and already posted about it. I'm tired, okay?
We have considered both: 1. Minimum number of votes, say 50 or even 200 (match the leaderboard) and sort by highest rated as we do today. Drawback is not all tracks would be listed 2. Taking total thumbs up alone or subtracting thumbs down, preference / visibility will be given to oldest tracks or even those that get the most plays so popular / top rated would likely be the same. Hmm, I am not totally clear on the best solution but I do agree current top rated could use some improvement. With those 2 options 1 seems to be the best and picking a number that is not to high or low but is just right.
I say you folks over at Kano come up with some massive algorithm to calculate the top rated tracks. Kind of like Google and their search engine. Do it do it do it
OK yo, check it out now: http://www.freeriderhd.com/highest-rated Using a magical formula that takes into account likes to dislike ratio. Looks to be a bit better mix also has min number votes factored in as well. Let us know.
