it seems my point didn't get across exactly. well actually a good portion of it did, but the resonance it had with me didn't. that's okay. been typing up something for an endy thought to respond more in depth to what you're saying here, likely will release that some time soon, along with an updated version of the track. someone else is working their magic on it currently, i won't say more than that. it'll continue being fleshed out.
up until about an hour before deadline i was actually going to keep more of the original stuff! the detail is great, didn't feel a point in spending my days overwriting what already had some fantastic setpieces. mostly, i wanted to get rid of the hard line the box was creating to let things breathe when zoomed out, and take the more oriental theming out since i hadn't followed through with that. the thought behind keeping most of the track was to invert the feeling you have when playing the original while keeping as much as possible along the way, much like dreamscapes feel in the moment of them. containing it to the box felt more and more limiting as time went on, so i made some extra boxes that inevitably spilled all over the place. oopsies! originally put more manga styled things around too, ended up cutting em. didn't feel like they fit stylistically, and not in a good way either. might've tied things together a bit more in hindsight, oh well.
next round is not having the same nebulousness coming together, though i suspect there'll be some questions raised about that one as well

i'm not afraid of criticism, discourse provides better ways of describing the truth than i ever could conjure up. but i'm definitely not in this contest to make the same kind of stuff i used to when entering. rc 4 was about showing my appreciation for other's art, specifically in video games. at the time i had a good amount of arguments with my family on what video games were and what they weren't, and wanted to show them how cool those atmospheres were while giving them something of my own to look at. didn't really seem to work! only had it called "the bike game" rather derogatorily and a whole bunch of "why are you still doing this?" kind of questionings. rc 5 became about me looking for a style that was my own, but everyone knows how that contest ended up going lol. i'd made other remixes for other contests and never finished any of them, there wasn't any reason to finish so they weren't finished. but now...
now i'm here because i like it here, i like the community. the people here are some of the most inspiring people i've gotten the digital pleasure to meet, you and weem included in that. the dedication you two have had to come back again and again to a dead little bike game leads me to believe there's more meaning than just making tracks and completing them. i want people to understand how they feel towards their art, and i do consider some tracks here genuine art, shouldn't be the only way they'll feel towards their creations, but the way the feel because they haven't found the _____. any word you find fits best should go there until you find a better word to replace it
best of luck to all the other contestants, i don't want any half measures out there. its cooler to see a rocket blow up on the way to space than it is to see a dude on a ladder with his hands stretched up pretending he's all big and strong, but that's just me!
