Well I have some sad news. When my dad was 13 he got into a car accident. He broke both of his legs and had to get surgery. But that was just his first surgery then there was more. My dad had over 10 surgeries on his legs and he still has problems walking. But 4 years ago he had to have surgery for his bladder. The doctor think it was not cancer related because he only fell. But 4 years later (well more like yesterday) he was diagnosed with cancer. He's a hard worker with two jobs and never buys anything for himself only for our family. He's gonna have surgery right away (again). I wasn't gonna post this because I know most people will just be rude about it which is messed up. But I want to keep everyone updated. I hope his surgery goes good.

What is more sad it that you you’re worried about what people will say. Although many people here are immature and sometimes confusing, just focus on the good, it was nice of you to post something like this here as your dad and your family deserve nice comments and warm prayers. Hope everything works out

I went through something similar a while back. I used to be really involved in an online forum with a large group of writers, but then my parents banned me for around a year because I was too young to talk to people online. When I came back, all of my best friends were gone. I didn't know anyone, and I was really sad for a long time. The way I dealt with this is making new friends. In your case, I guess try finding things that make you happy now instead of being sad about things that made you happy then.

that's the problem though. Things that used to make me happy just make me sad, just because they can't make me happy anymore. And I can't find anything enjoyable to do anymore. Maybe drawing, once in a while, not on here, but that's pretty much it.
Thank you. You kinda hit it on the nose. I think the most infuriating thing about it all is that A. they didn't even do what they said they'd do, and B. the type of response I always get is that they'd rather pay a bunch of money than sit there and listen to me try and talk to them, and they don't even let me do that. I feel stuck, in a sense. thank you, though, man. It means a lot

If i try to do anything other than related to school, my parents start talking about how i should be 'making the most of my time' when i'm literally sitting outside talking with a friend outside while waiting to be picked up. It's incredibly frustrating and the moment i drop schoolwork to talk to my friends online and play a game they immediately start bitching about how i should be focusing on schoolwork. I'm passing 4 out of 6 classes. When i boot up a discord call they start bitching about homework or assignments from last quarter. It's exhausting. I don't even dream anymore. Every day is getting more and more repetitive and my parents are threatening to take away the things that differentiate said days. I'm terrified to even mention anything that isnt school related.

that sucks. I get what you're saying and that can't be easy. However some things that are helpful to me are making a plan and sticking to it. If I start playing a video game or something like that 99 times out of 100 I will spend more time on that then I should. I think it might be best to get caught up in the classes you are failing.

I don't want to sound like a prick, or heaven forbid be repeating what your parents are saying, because I know that's not what you need, but failing classes have longer term effects then you realize. I'm not saying you should have straight A's, but you want to keep as many doors open in life as you can for your future. If you are in middle school, which I'm assuming, then it's good to get into a habit of having good grades, because you're definitely going to need it in high school. Getting behind in a class can feel like drowning around everyone else swimming, and just because your heads above the water doesn't mean it doesn't suck the living daylights out of you. It can be hard, but maybe what is best is to stick to a day by day, maybe even hour by hour schedule until you get everything done, and then fill in games or friends around that. Another solution could definitely be explaining how hard it is for you to your parents (notice how I said could, I'm not sure what your family life is like) and dropping down into core classes. needing help sometimes in the form of a tutor doesn't mean you're dumb, it can help. Trust me.

I don't follow the advice I give a lot of the time, so trust me I get it if you don't but that's how I know is probably best. But like I said I don't know you. Hopefully you can get all caught up by the end of your quarter. Good luck man, and sorry about what's going on.

thats fair. I'm in highschool and my lowest grade is a High F for both classes. I've been trying to keep up but it feels suffocating. Sophmore year is drowning me before i can see the end of the tunnel. It hurts, man. No one around seems to get it here.

DeFINETELY relatable. You’re on a tough line to balance. You can sacrifice any free time you have to just study, but that is gonna suck, a lot. And perhaps you can do the opposite. If I was you I’d recommend getting your grades up to a c-. Maybe dropping into easier classes at the end of the term. I feel much the same way as you.

I feel you. Right now I'm trying to navigate my first year of college classes and it's not going well with one of them. I have so many things to do that I'm behind on a lot of my classes and I barely can have any freetime anymore without feeling guilt about not catching up on my work. Any fun things I do come at the expense of even more work piling up when I'm done. Try to find time to relax without worrying about your grades or school, and definitely talk to your parents about that. It's always difficult to bring up things with your parents that they are doing wrong (trust me, I know) but it's better in the long run if you work things out with them.
