It's my excuse to be as cranky as you btw, not the nicest response and I'm going in for surgery in less than an hour.

I deleted the li'l cliff thing a couple days ago; it was pretty damn ugly. I didn't try to copy, using long bark strokes was the best way to capture the flowing bark of a juniper tree (as I'm sure you know). I'm definitely going to take the last sentence as a complement. i Don't think these are the kind of trees you draw tho (I notice a lot of generic shaped trees from you). Anyways, I'm gonna tweak it up a bit, so there'll be less hate

My trees are realistic. Yours are straight out of Old Yharnam. We're going after two different goals here so a comparison of shape is asinine. Oh trust me, calling out your similarities wasn't a compliment. It was the worst insult I could have given you. My art is horrible.

I don't think there anything wrong with copying as long as you don't trace or do something you couldn't do by yourself.

Lol, even using a reference picture is worse than "copying" in this case, because you could easily draw the "Crypt style" trees by yourself if you only were skilled enough.

 

Wtf, reference pictures arent worse than copying. Reference pictures are where you use an image or drawing and you draw your interpretation of it, doing a Crypt style tree is doing just that- drawing something that someone has already done, so much so that it looks the same

It depends on what you copy. For example, you can get inspiration from other people's tracks and technically that is still copying them. But it's obviously worse to use reference pictures than just get inspiration from other people's tracks.

 

There is a massive difference between being inspired and copying, and again there is nothing wrong with using reference pictures

 

Whatever, but there aren't many different styles for drawing realistic trees. So if two people, who are equally skilled, draw realistic trees, you would expect they look similar. That's why there's nothing wrong with it.

 

There's a million ways to draw trees. Do it your own or get called out. It's that simple.

So I'm just going to summarize a few of the things I'm working on currently. Some fun projects and collaborations that I think you guys should enjoy, most airing within the next two months.

This one I'm not going to give too much away for, but it should be something really big and unique. Lots of 3-D. Good detail.

-Waukena
This one's in the works. Fairly long, and I'm attempting some realistic heavy detail. Very experimental.

-Rotate III
Nalle's got me doing his slave work on this beast again. It's coming soon.

-Ebolaids II
Insane trial inside the virus of Ebolaids. Very abstract. Nobody's gonna complete it, lol.

-GC'16
Ghosting COLLAB between a ton of members. Nalle's part is pure cancer. Get hyped, even though only the elite will dare to complete it.

I also just wanna clarify, I'm fine with copying so long as you're learning, but it's clear that this user is NOT new to this game and should easily be able to find their own style by now.
