      ^ lol :p

      anyways:

new nico jaar! im a big fan of a lot of his stuff, hearing his albums as darkside when i was in high school were kind of my introduction to the type of electronic music i like now. big fan of the more abrasive turn here, very hyped for his next release
so naturally i did a little relistening..,.

the deluxe version of sirens is so sick, i wasn't a huge fan of sirens but with the additions in the deluxe version it's honestly massively improved, which i didn't expect given the quality of additions in most deluxe versions :p this song and wildflowers are 2 of the best songs on the album imo and were only added in the deluxe release

nymphs series is also really good, on the glitchier side of his work, it's very good! i like the combination of those elements here with the sort of organic sound he normally has

aside from the relistening, i heard this album for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! i had heard 2 destroyer albums before and found them nice musically but i really dislike bejar's voice and lyrics. fortunately here those do not seem to be nearly as bad of a problem here lol. he just released a new album but im not gonna listen to it!

ambient techno album which i have been playing quake while listening to. it's great music to play quake to. and that's all i have to say about that

      more electronic music

this album is pretty nuts, very interesting sound, highly recommend
this song probably works better in the album as kind of an ecstatic climax after the previous slower songs which are pretty sparse, mostly vocals, but its still very good on its own!

im not a huge amnesia scanner fan, but when their thing works it really works (see also as another life)

this is one of those things where i saw people talking about it and thought "there's absolutely no way that's actually good", i mean, the aesthetic and artist name and song names... it all reeked of edgy memey trash music
but then i listened to it because people wouldnt shut up about it and it's a surprisingly solid and well done album... dare i say the best dnb album ive ever heard? i will because i have barely listened to any

      its frank ocean pyramids

daft punk were one of the first bands i ever got into (via my gorillaz pandora station when i was 13-14), i listened to all their studio albums a bunch and even bought some of the songs before i moved on to piracy and then spotify. once i got more into music they kind of got left by the wayside in my listening; i think their studio albums are mostly good but i find them a little sterile and robotic (i guess it makes sense considering how much they use the robot motif). then a few years later i found out about this, which i had completely glossed over (who cares its a stupid live album?) and hhhhhhhhh, it was perfect! they take not even their best songs necessarily but the way they remix them and mash them up for this album breathes new life into them. what was a bit cold and sterile in the studio is suddenly energetic and kicking with life, constantly shifting but always high energy and super fun. its a great tour through all those songs i had begun my journey into music with, only mixed into something new and exciting even greater than the sum of its parts. it really is possibly the best live album of all time imo, with very little competition; here, the audience is really a part of it and adds a ton to the experience. to quote some guy's review on rateyourmusic:
anyway ive fawned over this album a lot, but i really love it! it's fantastic and its still one of the most viscerally enjoyable listens for me after all these years. this song goes insane. its great. big fan.

reading this reminded me of rush, who i havent listened to in forever. i wouldnt know a minstrel of the music i listen to today if i hadnt discovered rush even if they're polar opposites stylistically of what i listen to now

Well if you like long, agonizing buildups, I recommend listening to To Be Kind, by Swans. That album has some of the most challenging buildups I've ever heard.
