Introducing Polygon's Mod!
For a while now I've been working on modification of Free Rider HD, and it's finally at a point where I can share it!
Update 2.1 - 2/17/2021
What does it do?
It fixes bugs! It adds an (optional) new look to the game! (actually, an
old look) And it does a few other smaller things...

How to Install:

Installation Instructions (close)
If you use Chrome, click here to install the mod as an extension.
If you use another browser, follow these steps. The list may look long, but it is not hard to install. In order to use this mod, you will need an extension that can redirect HTTP Requests. These instructions are for a Chrome/Firefox extension called Requestly. If you don't have Chrome or Firefox, there are some other options for different browsers, but I won't cover them.
- Go to Requestly.in and install it for your browser.
- Once it's installed, click on the icon in the top right corner, and press "Open App".
- Click on the green "New Rule" button on the top of the screen.
- Select "Redirect Request".
- In the Rule Name box, Enter the name "Free Rider Mod" (Or whatever name you want)
- In the Request box, paste in "https://cdn.freeriderhd.com/free_rider_hd/assets/scripts/game/game.min.102.19.17.02.js" (without the quotes)
- In the Destination URL box, paste in "https://pastebin.com/raw/byQ4qn28" (without the quotes)
- Click "Save" in the top right corner. (If you are on a Chromebook, you might have to add and then remove a letter to each of the URLS to update the fields)
- Go to Free Rider HD, and refresh the page. The mod should be installed!
You'll know it worked because there will be a little white pentagon in the lower left corner of the screen. If is does not work after following these steps, try holding control and pressing f5.
Nostalgia Mode
Mobile viewers, sorry for the insanely big pictures

Nostalgia mode is a "reskin" of the game that makes it look like Canvas Rider. For those who are unfamiliar, Canvas Rider was an old copy of Free Rider, and was the first version of the game where you could race other players. The most noticeable difference will be the appearance of the powerups, but the bikes and the rider also look slightly different. Nostalgia Mode is on by default, but you can turn it off at any time.

Some visual fixes are shown in the image, but the full list is in the spoiler.

The ones that I consider most exciting are in bold.
- Autos should no longer break when you save and load your track, or undo erases.
- The eraser is more precise now.
- The blob will no longer sometimes become an hourglass shape.
- The blob icon is now square
- Vehicle powerups will now visibly snap to the grid.
- Vehicle powerups are now centered.
- Vehicle powerups no longer follow mouse when they are being placed.
- Tools now behave better when holding the shift key (the curve tool still has some problems, though).
- The editor no longer freezes when the rider collects the final star.
- Lines are no longer sometimes half width.
- Powerups placed on sector borders will no longer be partially behind lines and scenery.
- You no longer have to press V twice to switch vehicles for the first time in the editor.
- The grid will no longer occasionally become misaligned at certain zoom levels.
- The zoom percentage is no longer sometimes 1% off.
- Zooming behaves consistantly on devices with differing pixel ratios. (This one still needs testing)
- The helicopter cockpit and head are now positioned correctly.
- The balloon ropes never become detached from the balloon.
- Lines are no longer broken on sector borders.
Other Additions:
There are a few other things that this mod includes. Open the spoiler to see what they are.

Editor Tweaks:
Free Rider already has an unannounced feature where if you hold the ctrl key while drawing a line, it will show you the angle of the line. With this mod, it also shows the length of the line, and the X and Y components of the line.
Also, if you hold shift and ctrl at the same time while drawing a line, it will snap to 15 degree increments.

Additionally, tools are no longer bounded by the screen. For example, if you draw a line partially off the screen, the second point will be placed where the mouse is, rather than at the edge of the screen.
Keep Dead Riders:
You have an option (enabled by default) to have the rider stick around after you restart. The number of non-player riders is capped at 10, so don't worry about lagging the game.
Dead Powerups:
You also have the option to make boosts, gravity changers, and bombs affect the bike when the rider has fallen off. HOWEVER I honestly didn't put much effort into this one, and it's super buggy. You'll see what I mean
How to Change Mod Settings:
When you've installed the mod, a white pentagon will show up at the bottom left corner of the screen. Clicking it will open up a little menu where you can customize the mod. There's not a whole lot you can do at the moment, but you do have a few options.
Most of the options are mentioned in the spoiler above, except for the "Keep FRHD Hats" one. If Nostalgia Mode is enabled, this setting will make let you keep your custom head, instead of it replaced with the Canvas Rider head.
Is this mod dangerous?
No. None of the altered code has anything to do with accounts, passwords, track codes, or personal information. The mod does what this post describes and nothing more. Although I am confident that this mod will have no negative effects, by using it you agree that I am not responsible for anything bad that happens while it is installed.
mod.hackerMode = true;
