On the video game campaign

 

I.m srry I don't think this is feature worthy even tho is it great just not feature worthy

 

I like the track, as I have expressed repeatedly throughout the process of this track, but I do not think it qualifies for a feature.
I always look for the originality and creativity in a possible feature, not that I am a feature mod, but I can't help myself to voice my opinion on a lot of the candidates when they appear. Originality and creativity is unfortunatly 2 things that this track lacks, mostly because they did in fact make this track aware of there being an entire campaign dedicated to this concept (also most likely inspired by), aswell, as there are several tracks previously featured with the same theme.
Now out of 4 things to judge by, there are 2 left; detail, and ride.
I'd say the detail ......possibly qualifies for a feature. But that is only if you disregard the fact that Mario detail is easier to do than most detail, as the outlines already exist, since it's based on a game. aswell as there were clear inspiration taken from previously submitted featured tracks, and without attempting to sound cocky, they do not match.

Then there is the ride, which I feel like I do not need to comment on, without purposely wanting to sound rude.

I find the overall of this track much better than the average track, but to me, personally it does not have the qualifications that I myself connect with today's standards of the featured tracks (eventhough there are exceptions in there, but let's rather try to avoid adding more exceptions).

Always striving for a feature...

 

You have to be certain members or be cosigned by certain members to receive a feature. The standard shifts for certain people.

 

as long as you're striving for a feature, you will without doubt receive one with time (or more)

Since this discussion is happening again I would like to make this statement.

All tracks that are up for a debate for a feature should be viewed equally, without acknowledgement of the author and without comparison to similarly themed tracks. They should be compared to the least praised of the featured tracks section of the FRHD era, and if they are better than those tracks, they should be featured, because the lowest quality featured track is where the standard is. I do not believe members of the feature mod team follow these rules, instead, the standard is shaped around who made the track and who did it better, which is obviously unfair. It's clear that spruce and RiderExtreme2 are not that highly regarded and that Stig has made undeniably better tracks of this theme in the past. However, this track is great in it's own right and should be viewed in a one track mind in comparison to other featured tracks.

 

You raise a good point, however, which track do you feel is the weakest and is the minimum par to get above? It would be good to get as many opinions on this as possible

 

Since I want to rebuild my friendships with these people I dont want to bring them up in a way that might offend them

 

I understand that you have more ways to evaluate a track for feature than the 4 i listed then? Yet you didn't list any?

 

There is no certain track made by a certain member who sets the bar for what should be featured LOL. Any track should be considered individually, based on what imo are the 4 things to evaluate it on. Pssst is basically saying detail is the only thing to judge feats by, which coincidentally would disqualify his own tracks that are featured.

Edit, i do not deny the fact that there are exceptions that are not up to par with the rest there, but i also suggested we do not add more exceptions

 

Was the ride that bad?

 

That was kind of a smart ass comment, but to be frank, we disagree on your 4 evaluators.

In this case the goal was to make a Mario track, which they did, however its not original because its been done by you and many others. However, I'm sure the authors spruce and RiderExtreme2 took that into the account and the purpose was not to rip anyone off, but to make one for themselves. I believe originality is off the table for this case.

I do find it to be creative, I see what could be interpreted as different worlds within the track detail and enemies to represent that. I also find the ride to be creative for the inclusion of the helicopter and usage of pipes, as well as other objects such as the bricks and boxes taken from the mario game to produce a well flowing track.

The detail we agree that is feature worthy.

The ride, I would not like to contradict myself, for where I said I dislike the heli part. But I have rethought of it as a challenge now and rather an interesting and creative twist to the track. The ride is better than average so I would still see it as a positive.

Certainly not, I'm a huge advocater for track originality, creativity and playability/ride. In fact, all the tracks, I've suggested for feature in the past have had interesting and creative rides. You are very wrong Stig

 

I stand firm on my thoughts, and I fail to even remotely see the perspective you're viewing this from.

After all this extreme opposing, I want to repeat myself to spruce and rider, that I think it's a great track. It just doesn't qualify by the really strong criterias that I find essential in the evaluation of featured tracks (I wish the featured list was split into two, but right now I'm going by today's situation)

 

First off, I appreciate everyone who responded and gave feedback and constructive critism. This will allow spruce and I to amend our mistakes and grow as authors. Furthermore, for everyone who said this deserved a feature, thank you. spruce and I would love one Thanks pssst for your defense and support of this track. Stig thank you for voicing your opinions, they will be very useful in our future projects. We didn't mean to base our track too much upon Stig 's track, instead we used it as inspiration, we took a look at what you did well and tried to express that in our way. pssst thanks for noticing the pipes and heli part. Balancing those aspects of the track was time consuming, it took me more than a day to figure out how long the heli should be active to allow people to finish, but not cheat the track. It had to be challenging otherwise the track could be finished with heli. All we can ask is that the Featured Track Team takes another look at our track. If it is not up to par, then it will not be a feature, if it is then there will be a new track in that category. Whatever the outcome is, please remain courteous to each other and respect the decision of the Featured Track Team, there is a reason they are choosing the tracks.
