It was all over Reddit...well Line Rider/Canvas Rider was, as well as the plug in version thing where you could ride on any web page. Fast forward 8-10 years (I have no idea how long) and I found FRHD because I wanted to know if the game still existed.

 

Almost every time I see a "new" player now, it turns out they've known the game for years lol. I had no idea you heard of fr that long ago. And what's this plugin thing about?

 

I would still consider myself a "new" player as I've only been really playing for a year. Way back when I made like 3 just awful tracks one afternoon and played very infrequently for a few months. I don't remember anyone or any specific track even...maybe one that was jungle-ish and you rode on the C in Canvas Rider to start? I remember I was mad when Canvas rider got shut down (as in accepting new tracks), and a friend laughed at me because I hadn't played it in ages.

The reason it stuck in my head is that I was terrible at riding, and some people were already just so unbelievably good, and it always bothered me I couldn't figure it out.

I wish I had more info on the plugin thing. I just remember at first you would go to this site, put in the URL of the page you wanted to ride and the webpage would look the same but you would have a rider to play with. From there any site you navigated to was a track, and I remember there being a plugin for it because I always had a rider on my webpages for a couple years. Most often it was a slippery mess but occasionally it would be fun. I was amazed by the things people managed to climb in videos. I was actually looking for this when I found FRHD, but I have found no trace of whatever that site/extension/plugin was.
