the ride isn't perfectly crafted. a few frustrating boost and gravity placements make some jumps inconsistent.
but beyond that, although the layout of the track makes it easy to make mistakes, it forces you to play differently than expected in an interesting way.
the first path you choose usually takes you in the wrong direction or past a star. finding the right path in a track of this scale with the intertwining track is tough, it makes you explore. if you don't look at the ghosts to follow, you feel lost, and finding your way is a very fulfilling achievement.
the first time you try a jump you overshoot it. so many tracks force you to speed up, fewer tracks force you to slow down. it is the track controlling how you play. having to change your play style to succeed can be enjoyable or frustrating depending on the player, but submitting to the change and overcoming is fulfilling as well.
an example: after you collect the fourth star, you turn around fighting the gravity to get back up the hill. then you follow the arrow down to recycle the crystal dominoes. the hill challenge is simple and well done, and the fall to the crystals into that smooth landing is satisfying (and shaping the crystals like that and still having a smooth landing is surprising and adept).
then with the next jump onto the new path, you are riding on the cliffside and your wheels go under the detail, and you hit the boosts to get to the island. the way the track and detail aren't differentiated is an odd choice, and it happens at other places in the track. but it adds to the challenge of pathfinding, of knowing how to ride the track when your first glance is misleading. this is unique and interesting (
cliffside trial does something like this, and it adds a flavor to a track that enhances its enigmatic feeling). the boost is an example of a frustrating moment, with little space to adjust and hit it correctly.
overall,
the whole track has this feeling of being lost, feeling out of your element and unskillful. and getting past those feelings and finding your way is fulfilling. it is difficult to describe, and a little off-putting at first, and I think that is because of how unique the experience of playing it is.
the shading of the background could have been improved and finished, but I do think it adds to the feeling of the expanse. and on a small scale the detail isn't incredible, but as a whole piece, I think it looks epic and it has depth. and it combines with the ride in a good way.
I'm not saying it is the best track ever, but I do think it deserves a feature based on the uniqueness and quality of the ride, the detail, and the whole experience.

wrote this before looking at other opinions. Maple summed it up perfectly:
"I also enjoy how he fits the ride into the track's appearance, it's very fitting. It actually makes me more mindful of the detail/terrain!"
I think this is a huge highlight. the way it was executed (using the ride, the detail, the layout, and the scale) was unique and well-done, and combined with the "lost" feeling I described, it made for an interesting and enjoyable experience.
