as of today i’d say the microphones / mount eerie, broken social scene, interpol, built to spill, the dismemberment plan, car seat headrest, the exploration, toe, neutral milk hotel, godspeed you! black emperor / a silver mount zion, caribou, the postal service, beach house, and the beta band. i might be missing some:cool:

My music selection was relatively closed minded for some time, I basically restricted myself to grunge, post grunge, and alt rock, but I've recently found a few pop, country, and a LOT of metal artists I like. Still staying away from rap tho, very few artists have ever appealed to me in those genres

I'd be more likely to listen to rap than some country. Gucci Gang Lil Pump > Light It Up Luke Bryan

thx for mentioning mount eerie because it made me go back and revisit wind's poem, its even more amazing now that i appreciate the black metal influence more (speaking of, if youre at all interested in that type of thing, wolves in the throne room has remixed phil's songs before and have 2 amazing albums, diadem of 12 stars & two hunters, that are a pretty good entryway to bm for someone mostly into post-rock and stuff like that)
i'm gonna recommend a lot of stuff that you might have already heard now but its better to recommend something you maybe havent heard and very likely will like than something you very likely havent heard and maybe will like imo
if you like the dismemberment plan and math rock check out faraquet - the view from this tower, vocals are pretty similar to the dismemberment plan but over more math rock type instrumentals and thematically they touch on a lot of the same stuff
early modest mouse is a usual recommendation for built to spill if you havent already heard it
other math rock: everything don caballero is good, tricot is another japanese math rock influenced band that are really good (recommended to me years ago by rene of bhr fame), im a big fan of early tera melos, and if drive like jehu - yank crime is usually considered math rock even though its a bit more in post hardcore territory but it singlehandedly got me into more extreme or intense music, insanely good album, highly recommend
for folky stuff ive been listening to akron/family - love is simple, angels of light - how i loved you, grouper - dragging a dead deer up a hill
if you havent heard any of the modern folk mainstays like joanna newsom (especially this if you like mount eerie imo), fleet foxes, grizzly bear, sufjan stevens, bon iver, they all have pretty consistently very good discographies that are worth fully exploring
i find a lot of conventional post-rock are just boring or gybe ripoffs but i like tortoise's entire discography basically, mogwai - young team, the mono / world's end girlfriend collab is pretty nice, the boris albums feedbacker and flood are kind of post rock and are amazing, also a good intro to stoner/doom metal which may be of interest to you if you like post rock
obligatory plug to swans because theyre my favorite band, the seer is the best post rock album of all time :^)

lots of new stuff you suggested that i wanna check out, but also some that i recognize that i wanna revisit now . i've been trying to find new music thru youtube recommendations but now it's stuck in a loop of giving me obscure instrumental post-rock shît that was made on garageband so thank you, i'll check them all out

I'm into a lot of hip hop, rap, alternative rap, and stuff like that. I like a lot of the mainstream artists (Uzi Vert, Future, Juice WRLD, Joyner Lucas, Gunna, Em, Drake etc...)
Here's some legends you may not have heard of. I linked one of their best songs (in my opinion)
