Nope sorry :[ On a side note I tried desert for the first time and I feel pretty good about it, got a whole track out of it :')
nah, fission doesn't have what I'm looking for, but no worries, I think i've figured it out. It isn't as good as my bg pines, but it's really easy and doesn't look too bad.
Well here are some tips. Currently for tree making I used the brush on LARGE, it makes the shape flowing but still dynamic. Before I draw the shape of the tree I use two scenery lines to guide the path I want the tree to take so it ends up with proper width and height. Bark is just a softer version of rock (detail wise). I remember that branches don't just come off the sides but also from the front and the back. Foliage is tricky but all it has to do is look good it doesn't need to make sense. Other than that you just need to experiment until you get the hand of it.
Curious question. This most likely has happened to all of us here. You are detailing a track, everything is looking good however you eventually reach a point where you are rather uncertain on whether or not you want to keep continuing. What do you guys do now? Drop the track, wrap it up, or continue on and see how it turns out?
I think I can't judge my track if it's really short so I'd work on it untill it's a decent lenght and at that point I'd most likely finish it. (y)
Your choices are: Drop it; then all your hard work goes unknown and no one can enjoy it Submit as a NTBF; all your hardwork is slightly less wasted and people can enjoy it for what it is Wrap it up; you still need to do work but at least it'll be done, even if its short and end too short and it will get slightly more respect from the community. Usually the remaining detail is done in brush and very sloppily but who cares. finish it; this is gonna take a lot of effort and basically if you were considered any of the previous options this one is most likely not for you. Gets the most respect and enjoyment. sit on it; maybe inspiration will come back? For me it will come but in lesser strength and pushed me to wrap it up more than to actually finish it. Outsource it; ask if someone wants to collab on it with you. They'll be super excited and add tons of stuff and by the time you get it back there'll plenty more to enjoy and you'll be more encouraged to finish it. Comes at the price of sharing credit, but if you really like the idea this is the best way to see it come to fruition. I've mostly chosen to wrap it up, for examples look at African Expedition and California Redwoods. The choice is yours.
^Interesting. Extending the original question further cuz even more curious for the opinions from the rest of you. What are your thoughts on dropping the track, wrapping it up, and continuing on with it? Remember, this track is questionable right now, finishing could result in a masterpiece or disappointment. What are the conflicts for you that go with each decision, the pros and cons?
I've never dropped a track, it wastes your work and time. I'm a fan of wrapping it up, i've done that method for just about every track I've made. I get around 2/3 through a track before I lose interest, so I always end up with a mildly completely track. In my experience I've never regretted submitting a track, they have all served to push my skill and understanding forward. I've never actually gone the "finishing" route, I've always had more planned for my tracks than what I've managed to draw. I've actually become a fan of outsourcing it lately, probably because i've really enjoyed the idea more than the track itself.
I move on to something new, then come back later. If a track is good enough i will push through, but i have a couple of unfinished tracks that i wont upload cause they are bad
