i use an iPad that comppletely glitches out when I get near 500 kb, its real frustrating and it takes minutes to just copy the track code
That is how I made my first good detailed track was on a tablet. It's a lot easier in my opinion to make those smooth jumps levels on computers. But doing the good details, for nature and the like, it's easier on a tablet.
That probably means that your detail/perception of detail is improving, I went through a stage like that during the fourth remix contest. I had to scrap my old wips because my detail improved so much during the contest, that I couldnt stand the look of my old stuff Also I was going to ask this after I posted my track, but I might as well address it now; how do people detail cliff sides? I have no idea, and havent had much idea since I started drawing. I dont know where to start, what to look for, etc
Eh, I usually do it similar to like a cave floor/ceiling detail, but flip it sideways and make it a little less rocky. I find it hard to do the transition between cliff face and flat ground
drew this one in about 5 mins, but i didn't like the aesthetic of the western-looking tree with eastern-looking leaves so I erased the tree outiline and made a forest landscape out of it, a little messy and abstract, but whatevs
Yeah, I find it easier on iPad. It's just something about the touch-sensation of drawing on a tablet that I like a lot. It's not as precise tho, mainly cuz your finger is covering any lines you want to connect, and using brush on iPad is a nightmare lol.
If you're gonna detail a whole cliff face it might look really off-putting since you'll have a huge rectangle of detail and the rest of the track in comparison might look rather lacking. I think detailing near tips of cliffs and leaving everything below to the imagination(blank) turns out quite well. Hey challenge you guys to make some cool scenes from snippets of tracks:
Yesterday I took the advice of mudkip and worked (strictly) from reference. Usually I end up sort of looking at an image and saying "yeah ok I get it" and then going off. This time, though, I just... worked from reference. It is very helpful, to say the least. If you're in this thread and you aren't doing this (and you're not, y'know, an amazing artist), doooo it. Okay back to detailing.
I dunno if that was directed towards me but, lol that actually not based on something... I guess I will have to do reference work again...
okay, i keep asking for ideas, and trust me, this goosebumps track is gonna be near featured. this im having trouble detailing. i want it to look like this (down) but if i do, itll brake and poke out. should i make it like this? (down) or something else? im having trouble with the overhangs, any help would be fantastic.
