I'm not sure how far back you are talking because I am new to this thread lol. I skimmed through starting at about page 30-ish then started reading thoroughly from when pssst posted the poll images mostly because they were eye-catching and stopped my skimming. So that's about where I am looking from.
A bit ways up from that post you asked for a source on the "silent vote" that pssst mentioned and he never responded. My guess is that it's because pinn provided an answer. The answer made sense, gave you pause, and kinda just solved that issue. No need to demand a response from pssst by that point.
Other than that question, you didn't really ask anything worth answering. You asked what his (and republicans in general) reaction would be if Biden won, which was irrelevant to what you were responding to (or anything really), so he ignored it. After that, you haven't asked anything, just accused him of being unreasonable.

The part about hate and contempt... yeah I get it, but that's a bit of an exaggeration. I wouldn't call what he has said as hateful or contemptuous. He probably has a similar and opossite reaction to a lot of demacrats when they are confident in a Biden (or democrat in general) win. Another reason why I ignore it, you see that on both sides. Looking passed the emotion, he provided sources (the polls) and he didn't need to respond to you because someone else already did. Although it was kinda backhanded to explain the polls to someone else instead of you when you clearly had an issue with the polls he posted.

I'm still fine with psssts posts. Seems like a totally normal thread. Off-putting sometimes, still, but a bit of good and bad, but certainly not all bad. Who are we to judge his character anyway? Looking passed that, there wasn't anything wrong with his responses.

just trying to get a feel of what the overall reaction will be if Biden wins. who knows what will happen, rebellion? mass murders and assassinations? remember all the gun lovers (and users to deadly effect) are on trump's side. Huge lockdown protests? Violent demands to redo the 'rigged' election?

Anyway, about the unreasonableness: not sure if im being 'overly affected' of something by these, just not used to this level of toxicity.
these have just been towards me, in the last day. Pretty sure he's been posting stuff like this for years to countless numbers of people. Please tell me if i'm wrong though...

edit: I haven't rlly been following through on this thread either... hate the pure amount of shitposting that happens

I think it's pretty easy to answer that question with some quick comparisons of passed elections. I adressed this earlier:
The first toxic quote: I feel like that was at least a little justified. The conversation between you two didn't go for more than few back and forths and you hit him with "I've tried to be nothing but reasonable and logical and you're just mean!" (paraphrasing, duh). As an external observer, that came across as pretty pretentious, ngl.

Second one: eh, it's a pretty weak, over-used (on both sides) jab that really doesn't mean anything

Third: That was pretty low. That one can't be taken at face value though because it seems like a metaphor. I have a few ideas of what it means, but you should ask pssst as I don't want to put words in his mouth. Still low though.

I still don't understand all the focus you put on his insults. They don't contribute anything to the conversation, so just ignore them. I understand if you aren't used to that toxicity, but it's only as much a problem as you make it.

    ----------------------

What time zone are you in? I'm going to bed (it's 2am), so if you respond soon it will be awhile for me.

edit: I'm really tired, so at quick glance I know for sure I didn't write all my thoughts in this post, so bear with me if you find holes. I definitely could add more at the end here to explain myself, but I am too tired to think. I should stop going to bed this late.

Fair point, I agree with this one.

True, it is weak, and used by both sides... but not in this particular debate. I, like both you an and a couple others, just recently joined this debate. And I have yet to see BlakeAlex use any terms like this. In my opinion, pssst should have phrased this something more along the lines of "the reason why you shouldn't believe this..." rather than say, "you're a moron for believing this." Not a big deal, but frankly, uncalled for. Come on man.

It is nice to see someone who can accept that people with shared values can make mistakes. Unfortunately this is pretty rare, so I appreciate your rationale. What's funny, and disappointing I might add, is that debate on a video game forum is more respectful than the presidential debate.

Uncle_Rico Didn't mean to justify the second one or anything lol. I meant to minimize it because it is overused, meaningly, and petty. But yeah, I meant used on both sides in general, not here lol. Blake definitely didn't say it or anything close. I still don't understand all the focus on pssst's insults though (yet I judge them for Blake anyway lmao). They have nothing to do with the argument.

Thanks, I feel like it's easier to stay civil in online discussions because you are forced to take longer to respond, giving you more time to think (and maybe because whatever you say will be their forever and you'd rather not regret saying something). I am also really awkward in person (depending on the situation), so this is the only place I feel confortable discussing things. People have tried to corner me into political discussions, but I just avoid giving my own opinions and just acknowledge and understand theirs. I am usually afraid that disagreeing will turn people hostile.

Politics in person is really scuffed right now. Online seems like the only place to safely discuss it (and even that can get dangerous).

Yeah, I kind of know in the back of my mind that I am making a big deal out of this. And I have no doubt that that is how it's perceived. I'm really just over emphasizing it because I've seen discussions that start like this, pretty harmless stuff, but then escalate. I have seen this both online and in person. I have witnessed some of my extended family members get to a point where they'll hardly speak to each other because of something that started out as a simple disagreement that escalated. Once people start attacking the person rather than the belief, **** hits the fan fast.
Absolutely. I much prefer being able to think out a response. I'm a very talkative person in real life, but I'm bad at arguing. And I specifically try to stay away from arguing about politics in person.

Unfortunately that has already happened in my family :( One of my aunts and her family is hard left and my immediate family is right (not extreme or anything) and when she found out, she basically has started many heated arguments with my dad and sending provocative texts to him. I still love her as family, but I wish she would put politics aside for the family's sake. :(
I'm honestly afraid to visit them in the future because I don't know what she has told her family about us. I don't have anything against them though.

I'm really sorry that you've had to experience that. I've only seen it as a bystander but I can somewhat understand what it's like.

Correction: *** "A bit ways up from that post you asked for a source on the "silent vote" that pinn mentioned"
I accidentally thought pssst mentioned the hidden republican vote. That actually means BlakeAlex asked pssst only one question that was promptly answered.

edit: yes I proof read my posts

ive gone through the last few pages of this thread, and found one quote where pssst may have tried to answer a particular version of my question...

"Sure Joe Biden could theoretically win, if somehow people could in good conscious vote for him. The problem is, you’re not going to get that kind of turnout when your whole campaign is being not-Trump. Not to mention Joe’s lack of charisma, corruption and senile behavior."

Where he states that Joe Biden could theoretically win, but effectively still can't conceive the concept of a world with biden as president.

Whatever anyway i'm done with this thread, can't stand too much politics at one time...
