Actually no. That's called personalized adds and it's used on social media platforms to try and attract you to similar stuff you've watched, read, etc. On website like this, it's advertisements that have paid to be advertised in the site, or it's the owner of the site who chooses which adds will be displayed on the site. You'll see the same thing in online news articles, something like Wikipedia, and other sites where adds are the main source of income. In this case, it's not personalized adds but kano choosing which adds will be presented to its audience. It's a little something called clogging the thread and to just about everyone else in the community, it's irritating and annoying because it's unnecessary. It's annoying to scroll through 15 messages (Which do in fact take up a lot of space, especially if you have a long signature) to get to the useful replies when you could've easily combined the messages or just replied in a different thread where it's relevant. In this case it was wasn't necessary for you to have even replied that may times or put it in a different thread as it shouldn't've even been messaged in the first place. That's why it matters.
true but more than social media does that. It is different than algorithms for what you watch on there. Most free apps track you and target ads, and sell your information to third parties. that's how they make money. this in particular, kano gets money from letting trackers onto their websites to track people and get their information, as well as kano doing that, and google tracks you and will sell that same information to ad companies, some of which are hired by kano for freerider and then put on here. Just so you know, I don't look at p*rn or anything like that...so that isn't getting put towards me for that, chances are it is being targeted simply because they found out I am a teenage boy. The amount of data points that they have per person is insane. But you are correct in some senses. Overall kano does not decide which ads, just the companies putting ads on. Bonvoyaged specifically is doing this and has harmless ads as well. They just get to choose the thumbnail for the ad, whether true or not. It's clickbait and a thirst trap using big boobs to get males to click on it. simple as that.
idk if its just on what you have been looking up; I keep getting ads on becoming an animator, but I have never done or looked up anything about animation
I have had some very innapropriate ads on my school chromebook on a school gmail. Here is but a preview (no but really it's a problem)
Definitely still happening. I’ve had full nudity from the back shown not to long ago. This is a school account on a brand new school computer. I’ve reported those adds multiple times and those have gone away, but the school has blocked any apps/extensions so I can’t get an ad blocker
