    ~~~~ FREE RIDER 2 : GHOSTDOG ~~~~

    A bunch of people are missing the old editor from canvas rider (and oh god do I feel you).
    So there it is :

    This hacked version features some new stuff such as :
    • a nodie mod
    • a ghost saving/loading system
    • a teleportation power-up
    • an anti-gravity power-up
    • three types of eraser (lines, scenery, power-up)
    • the possibility to use slowmotion (it wasn't possible with CR editor)
    • the possibility to switch between the editor and the "race mode" (the interface used on any CR track right now)

    I might add some other new stuff in the future, such as the "curved line tool" of FRHD... But if you have any other idea feel free to suggest it right here.

    The 3type eraser (frhd editor) and anti-gravity (bhr) already exist. I want to see a teleporter. I know its possible, because if you can respawn at a checkpoint, theres no reason you can't spawn at another point on the map.

    The good thing about ghosts is I can race more than 1 at once (I've raced 41 ghosts at once, pretty laggy lol)

    Hi !
    The teleporter impementation is doing great ! I just have a question for you guys, what would you prefer between ?
    • a teleporter with a single usage -> once the teleportation is done, no more can be achieved with this particular teleporter
    This is the implementation I went for because it is the most straightforward, and I like the idea of "unlocking" a path once the teleporter blocking the way is used.
    This would be finished tomorrow for sure, I just have to make it work with the ghost system and it would be fine :

    See ? Almost done.

    or :
    • a teleporter is locked (nonusable) until you use another teleporter (in other words, every teleporter is usable except the last one you used)
    The implementation would be a bit more tricky, but you could use this to make infinite fall or that kind of thing with two sets of teleporters. I also like this idea because you can still use a teleporter as a "path to unlock".

    or :
    • a teleporter has infinite amount of usage possible
    Well, at first that was my plan but after playing a bit with it, I realised it wasn't really playable. It is really shakky, and even when allowing a new teleportation after the biker is far away, the system tends to be buggy.
    I might still implement the last idea but it would take me a bit more time to make it enjoyable, if this is even possible ?

    If the 2nd option is buggy then use the first, because people can just spam teleportation powerups

    The third one is buggy and I wouldn't go for that one if I was creating a game only for myself, but I think the second one could be a good compromise and might not be buggy at all, it would just take me a bit more time.

    I know, this is probably an obvious thought, but why not make two different types of teleporters for different uses?

    Free rider isn't a game about teleportation you see. I like to think of power-ups as small little things that give the game more depth.
    My philosophy right now is not about putting a lot of new power-ups into the game, it's about giving the game more depth with only a few additionnal things.
    See the "slowmotion" power-up ? I did a version for myself where the effects of slomo were unlimited until you get another slowmo, and I could probably come up with a thousand of other implementations for this power-up, yet "FR2GD" has only one slowmotion power-up. Quality and minimalism comes before quantity, even if that means putting aside good ideas.

    TL;DR : I put a veto against having different kind of teleporters
