    Grid Ride Creation

here's some insight into my process for this type of track, simple but effective grid lines, sometimes symmetrical, always with the ride as main focus

    basic start
    [IMG]
    first ramp
    [IMG]
keep it symmetrical with the curve tool, keep an eye on the gaps and line it up evenly
    [IMG]
    halfpipe
    [IMG]

    light detail to taste
    [IMG]

example of minimal air time controlled landing
    [IMG]
example of full upwards velocity on that jump
    [IMG]
don't waste that space, use it your advantage and add things to enhance the ride ( an object to bounce or wall-ride to next platform )
same on other side for symmetry
    [IMG]
what is the full forwards velocity from that platform? how far will you travel?
this is as far forward as i got before falling, you can place a ramp here and continue expanding the track outwards that way
    [IMG]
what happens if you get to the end of that ramp and turn around? accelerate and see where you end up in the other direction
    [IMG]
this is as far as i travelled before falling
    [IMG]
place new platform here for smooth transition
    [IMG]
this new platform from either way will take you back to the halfpipe and increase acceleration
    [IMG]
full speed ahead, see where this takes you
    [IMG]
be prepared to travel much higher this time round
    [IMG]
here you can recycle that object, i opted for a vehicle placed above ( heli or balloon etc )
now you're in the air you can move to a new area
    [IMG]
a new way to travel back to the halfpipe if you so choose
    [IMG]
heli timer runs out, use the ramp to travel back to halfpipe and explore the area to the left
    [IMG]
    end result

this is how to maximize a small area and keep lots of options open for the riders, recycling and infinite different routes is always fun

    hope this helps,

    also, extra tip for readers:
when using curve tool, if you want a generally more smooth and consistent line it helps to first draw the curve using scenery line and then trace over it using physics lines, i do this pretty often when trackmaking and i think it tends to eliminate most inconsistency in the rides of my tracks.

yeah the physics get all weird on curves and brush lines
