Yeah. the day before it starts, everything should be organized so the entire 1st page will be updated to include the full list of rules and information needed. the second post which is currently just the list of ghosters will be turned into the Ranking post where you can see where you would be ranked after each week.

tbh I would like someone to design some medals for each rank but idk how long it would take and i don't want to take up too much of someone's time. though thinking about it now I could just copy and paste it from another game and i doubt anyone would care.
I also wanted to make a google sheets, but that's a bit too much effort that I can't be bothered to do.
The only thing i need to do is stockpile a ton of tracks in advance for this but I've heavily procrastinating it and I don't have any.

use authors tracks who need more exposure (if the ride is good etc). that way authors who are less known can get more plays and attention, as well as the contest having tracks that aren't as readily known. just an idea. i can try and make a list of authors who might need some more recognition, if you'd be down for that.

i would asume the ranks would be bronze sliver gold maybe platinum and diamond(though i dont really know)
i think he mentioned it before

Welcoming all ghosters! Introducing a ranked ghosting system so you can brag about your rank to your friends for not having a life!

So as most of you know, or at least I hope most of you know, there's a worldwide leaderboard for Free Rider HD.
All around it's a good way to find out who has played the most tracks on a single account.
Sadly players have had to resort to viewing the top 100 ghosters thread to find out the skill level of the top players that I'm sure most of you know of. But unfortunately that's only updated once a year. And people have complained that non-active players should be excluded from the list.
So I'm here to provide to ghosters a way to accurately show that they are better than others! how great.

The way it works is pretty simple.

TIMELINE:
Matches will be made randomly between you and an opponent from the same point group as you.
One track chosen by the Ranked Ghosting Team.
You will have 3 days to ghost the track.
You then have 4 days off to prepare and practice for the next match.

MATCH RULES:
There will be under no circumstances cheating of any kind allowed. this includes TAS and FPS slower as well as any other game changing devices that change gameplay to the point where the user has even a slight advantage.
Any users found cheating in their ghosts will be banned permanently from participating in Ranked Ghosting.
You will have 72 hours from the exact moment the track is shared to ghost the track.
Not ghosting the track will count as a loss.
Broken ghosts will not result in a DQ unless it's sketchy as fu.ck.

SCORING:
You'll start with 1000 points.
Anyone joining Ranked Ghosters after the beginning of the season will only be getting 800 points
Winning against a ghoster from the same point group as you will award you 50 points.
Winning against a ghoster from a point group 1 higher than your own will award you 65 points.
Winning against a ghoster from a point group 2 higher than your own will award you 90 points.
Winning against a ghoster from a point group 3 or higher than your won will award you 100 points.
Losing against a ghoster from the same point group as you will lose you 30 points.
Losing against a ghoster from a point group 1 lower than your own will lose you 40 points.
Losing against a ghoster from a point group 2 lower than your own will lose you 50 points.
Losing against a ghoster from a point group 3 or lower than your own will lose you 60 points.
Tying wastes both your time so don't do it.

SPECIAL RULES:
Any ghosters with history of using cheats WILL NOT be allowed to participate. there are minimal exceptions to this rule so if it includes you I doubt you're the exception.
Points can be won from external ghosting contests.

RANKED GHOSTING TEAM:

Eryp

NOTES:
- This will begin a week after the FRHD world cup 5.
- The Ranked Ghosting will be going on hiatus to better promote ghosting contest that happen like the GBC3 this year.
- You can win points from ghosting contests other than this one while the hiatus is happening.
- The Ranked Ghosting will be broken up into seasons, where the Top 3 ranked ghosters will receive medals and other top ghosters will be compensated with a large amount of coins or something.
- The season will last a full year. I'm aware long term planning never goes well since free riders have the shortest attention span of all time but give it a try since there are limited medals available. And maybe if season 1 turns out well there'll be a season 2.
- You can join the Ranked Ghosters by saying "in" in this thread. But you will stay in each ranked match each week unless you opt out.
- Remember this was made to be a fun activity you can do to have a fun ghosting race and to act as a more updated list of the top 100 ghosters for active players.

Technically you could do that. I feel like that might get monotonous, but it's not up to me, so I dont exactly know what Badger will do.

- Now that the 5th World Cup has been completed, Ranked Ghosting now has a clear time to take off. So now the first match is scheduled for Saturday March 6th at 1:00 pm AEST, 10 days from now. This can change however if something happens that makes me need to postpone this for whatever reason.
- The track will be custom made to start off the contest. Not all the tracks will be like this though, most of the time older tracks will be chosen to ghost.
- Also changing the "point groups" to "ranks" like bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc because it sounds cooler.
- Thinking about adding special events, like longer tracks that earn more points for winning (magnum opus for example). Though atm this is just a thought so this probably won't happen.
- When the Ranked begins the main post will be completely remade to fit all the rules and questions that have been discussed in the thread so far.
- Also, I'm seeing what I can do about every participant getting a medal, but for the rank they finish at the end of the season. for example finishing in gold will give you a custom gold ranked medal that you get until the end of the next season. there will be a minimum track completion limit that ghosters will have to complete to be allowed to get this medal to stop just anyone from showing up to get a free medal. this is just an idea though don't get too excited.
- Still confused? ask some questions, that's what this thread is for. discussing and asking questions about the Ranked ghosting is the best way to answer any unanswered questions.
