I'm on my vacation again, so I decided to do another racing contest. I didn't want to get in the way of speedy__XD's contest, but since it's coming close to an end, I started the plans for a new Free Rider World Cup!

Free Rider World Cup 4 will carry the legacy of the contest hosted 2 times by DblU and 1 time by me. But this time, I'm not alone. Since we are already constantly working together on the Official Featured Ghosts thread, Eryp joined the team that will help me host this new FRHD ghosting event.

We also recruited Odala and BrandonBishop50 to the team, so let's welcome and thank then for helping with this.

1. Format/System

This time it will not be a league like Free Rider World Cups 2 and 3, neither it will be only an eliminatory cup, like the 1st edition. This time it will have different format, that will consist on three different stages. It's similar to the FIFA's World Cup of soccer (or football, haha).

Stage 1: Qualifiers

We have 3 different projects. One for 16 players, one for 24 players and one for 32 players. We would like to have at least 16 players for this to work.

If we get more than 16 players, and the number of players is between 17 and 23 players, we do a qualifier round to reduce them to 16. If it's between 25 and 31 players, we will reduce to 24, if it's over 32 players, we reduce to 32. If it's 16, 24 or 32, we don't need any changes. So there's this qualifier round, where the best 16, 24 or 32 players avance to the group stage. Of course we could adapt for more people, if necessary.

Stage 2: Group Stage

In the group stage, we would initially seed the players based on the qualifiers stage, but it could bring some issues because of what we will explain next, so it will be done manually. Not all of us are going to participate in the contest, so the ones who won't, will be in charge of the seeding. The only things that will be done manually are putting the qualified players in the different pots so we could have more balanced groups. We will make 4 pots. The best quarter of players in pot A, then the next quarter in pot B, then the next in pot C and after this one, there's pot D. We will not make it based on the Qualifiers Round result, because people could intentionally get bad results to get on "easier groups". We have good parameters to be based on, we the the Official Featured Ghosts list, the Free Rider Top 100 list, so we will make a wise choice on the pots. Then there will be a draw where we will randomly (using some program, number generator or whatever) put 1 player from each pot in each group.

The groups will consist of 4 players, where there will have 3 matches per player, each one against a different player from the group. Winner of the match (best time out of the 2 players in the match) gains 3 points, loser gets no points. A draw would be hard to happen, but if it happens, 1 point for each player. If the player misses the match or fails on making a ghost, he loses 1 point. Then, if there's 16 or 32 players, the best 2 of each group will advance. If there's 24 players, the 2 best of each group and the 4 best 3rd placed players would advance to the best round. The 4 best 3rd placed players would be determined by the sum of the times of each player. The 4 smaller combined values would advance to the next stage.

Stage 3: Knockouts Stage

Then it will be a eliminatory stage with the 8 (if there's 16 players) or 16 (if there's 24 or 32 players) that advance onto the next stage. Then, after 16 we have 8 matches and the winners advance, so we reduce to 8 with 4 matches, then semi-finals with 4 players in 2 matches and then finals and the 3rd place match.

Bonus: Loser's Bracket

Also there will be a loser championship, with everyone who lost except the ones in the elimination round, and it will be happening in the same tracks that the next stages will take place. The losers of the group stage, will battle in the next round against each other for a spot in the next round where they will face the losers of the next knockout stage. Then it goes on like that until the semi-finals, where we will have 4 players in the regular championship and 4 in the Loser's clChampionship. Then the 2 winners of the matches in the Loser's Championship will have and additional 2 days long round, to decide the winner of the losers in the Loser's Championship finals. These 2 days will be a break time for the finalist and 3rd place contestants. However, the winner of the Loser's Championship will earn a spot in the 3rd Place Match, so it'll be a 1v1v1 for the 3rd place in the same round as the finals, so we can have (hopefully) big prizes for the top 5 players in the contest.

2. Rounds/Deadline

The rounds will happen for 3 to 4 days each. It may vary a little bit because of my own schedule, but I will do my best to have the time of the beginning and the end of the rounds always defined before the start of the rounds. Also, there's will be a shorter round on the Loser's Championship that will be 2 days long. We are trying to keep thing more dynamic this time.
