Update Dec 2017 - Development and Developer Update

Hey Guys, first off I hope you all are stoked for winter holidays.

I need to update you guys on what's going on, as I understand a lot of people are out of the loop. Im getting a lot of flack for the lack of updates.

We recently hired another developer Brett , he's actually been the one fixing up the site lately and tweaking things as he gets comfortable with the codebase.
As you know in 2017 we released the mobile version. A lot of our focus was put into mobile and less on desktop. Now that Brett is here we have more resources to put into the desktop.

Another addition is that we're putting more resources into hosting contests and promoting more tracks. We are putting more effort into our social media and community.

We look forward to developing this game out further. We plan on bringing Free Rider to more platforms and expanding our reach.

What are we doing now?

• Adding "Track of the day" to mobile for extra rewards (releasing this week)
• Porting the 200 mobile heads over to desktop
• Redesigning the shop page and introducing a random head feature
• Deleting tracks
• Contests with redeem codes for more prizes.

I can't see the far future so I don't want to make an promises.

also im glad deleting tracks will be a thing, but a problem with it on trackmill was that if people got bad ratings they would delete the track and repost it until it got good ratings. is there a way to prevent that

 

I am so excited for the new hats and deleting tracks

 

We will look at ways to reduce this problem. Simply hiding it from their profile instead of the actual track listing may be one option.
I welcome any ideas as well.

 

two main considerations ive had:
- could the delete/hide feature be limited to oa's?
--- there'd be a smaller, approved group of users who've this ability
--- easier moderation (if that even becomes a thing?)
- could there be moderators set to mediate it?
--- i dunno if this is ignorant of me to think, but im sure a program would take more work than a handful (at most) of trusted members who've been given instruction
--- mods could answer questions from users who want to delete tracks, rather than having the users come to you
--- mods could even be secondary and only need to look over users who are flagged for abusing the system?

 

All good ideas. I will think about it. We will definitely be adding moderation tools along with this feature.
Maybe we will make it cost coins, this would most likely reduce hide spam.

if tracks r deleted does that mean the likes for that level will go away or will they still count?

This has not been decided yet.

Deleting will really be hide. Maybe it'll cost money to resurrect tracks. All of these things we need to flush out . It'll definitely take some thought to reduce people asking for things.

I can't remember .
We're releasing a ton of new ones in the next week or so.
