First off, Ness's tracks aren't garbage. Second off, the featured track team calls the shots, it's not him featuring his own tracks all willy-nilly

seems like the #1 comeback from the mods atm is "ness is the best track creator of all time. period. if a track can't be compared with him, it's not good enough."

Literally none of this is true. Not sure if you looked at those screenshots I posted. How is that good detail at all? And why will no one give a real reason? Never mind that's a stupid question... there's absolutely no logic, just some angry mods who hate smooth tracks because everyone else likes them. Even if they have amazing and original detail like the dreamt place.

    Anyways..
It's pretty obvious at this point that none of you are going to admit how much you are ignoring the truth. You ignored my first post in the thread with many examples of featured tracks that were worse than unfeatured tracks. You ignored my screenshots that clearly illustrate the poor quality of alex's featured tracks, and somehow you claim that they are better than mine and the dreamt place. Obviously this isn't going anywhere, but changes do need to be made to the team if this is how it's going to be. There's tracks that are much better than ness's and alex's that you guys don't feature simply because of how easy they are to beat. You can claim it's for whatever reason you want, but anyone with eyes can see how biased you are towards these people and their styles.

About twisting nether, I'm sorry but it just really does not look good. I can tell that you spend a lot of time on it and tried really hard but in the end it looks really sketchy and just generally not good enough to compare with the tracks you mentioned.
About snowy slopes, we didn't really discuss it all that much since it was already out when we made the first few pages of the featured list and at that time we all just picked tracks from users that we found feature worthy and only discussed them a little bit. We mentioned your tracks because we thought that some of them were classics and picked 2 that we thought deserved to be on the page, which were trackmillion and cityscape. We didn't check every single track on the db and discuss if it should be featured or not. Now on newer tracks we do spend a lot of time discussing because there are only a few great tracks being released every now and then. You shouldn't look at every classic track and ask why some aren't featured while others are because when we started with this list we only wanted to have like 20 classic tracks featured so that we could just move on to featuring new releases because checking all old tracks would be a complete pain. Char asked us to feature more old tracks which we kinda didn't want to do but he wanted a more substantial basis to start with. If you were to release snowy slopes today I'm sure that someone would bring it up in the convo and we would discuss it. Personally I think that the layout is really really sweet and that it looks clean. I just don't really find it any fun to play because there are parts where I'm just holding up for 5 seconds. When I judge a track I look at how fun to play it is, and taking away all controll from a player is not fun to me. I do think it's a well made track though for what it is so I'm sure if I'd vote yes or no. You could call it biased that I don't like that type of track if you want to but it really is just an opinion. I give every track a chance but if I don't find it fun to play and so do the other guys then that's going to a problem for it being featured. Snowy slopes has the lenght and the layout going for it and for me personally the ride against it with the detail and creativity being somewhat in the midde.

Also, about the dreamt place, we already discussed into A LOT of detail why we didn't feature it. It's not because it's easy, but because it's short and inconsistent. If it wasn't we would've featured it.

Also also, I think that Ithaka deserves to be on the featured list and is generally a really well made track, especially since it's a remix. I personally didn't find seventh sea feature worthy and we had a lot of discussion about it but in the end it got 3/5 votes which means a feature. If you want reasons for that I'm sure some of the other guys can explain to you why they do think it should be featured.

If there is still something not clear I wouldn't mind explaining it.

ps keep in mind that you can't always agree with our choices and that not everyone thinks the same. Sometimes if we feature a track people get mad but if we hadn't featured it other people would've been mad. It's a hard task keeping everyone happy here and as you can see, people are agreeing with your opinion while other people disagree

Thank you Max007x for the calm and detailed response, I was starting to worry this topic would become a name calling thread.
Everyone has the right to their opinion and should feel safe to post it. I don't want to lock this thread if everyone just resorts to calling each others tracks bad. There is a clear difference between constructive criticism and insults.
P.S. Calling people stupid, noobs, or swearing won't help anyone's argument.

Ok, Ok, Ok. I'm done waiting and doing my own thing and now is the time that I reply to your comments.

Difficulty doesn't contribute to a feature to me, I look at a lot of things in a track; mainly the ones listed here. http://community.freeriderhd.com/threads/featured-tracks-information.2907/ I do have different standards to what has been said in there though but that's because I am human and we all have different opinions. You also got to think, hey each situation is slightly different and you have to measure up a track accordingly. These aren't some 10 second decisions.

Detail isn't exactly always necessary but you would need to do something out of the box to counteract a lack of detail. Again, the difficulty doesn't have to be that hard, it just has unique if play and layout is the main focus over detail. Usually with detailed tracks play isn't the main focus and that's why they're hard. You know you have featured tracks, you making the tracks has no contribution to whether or not the track is featured. A lot of "older" classic track makers only had a couple of the tracks featured, in fact someone listed how much each person has somewhere, if I find it i'll link it for you but I'm not going to go out of my way just for you.

    Nvm here it is
Tbh with your attitude, I wonder why I should even reply.

A great ride doesn't mean that the holding up and z constitutes to how good the ride is. Look at the jumps in Ness' tracks, each one flows to perfection without the need for it to be just a hold up. Then there's multiple uses to the jumps which you know that's more creative than using them once. Then if you look at Ness' features, only the most creative or the ones with the best play are featured, for example Aurora for the most unique detail/layout front on the game for years and woe was featured because imo it's probably his best skatepark since n resort and that's not even featured here.
Read everything multiple times, you kinda need to.
Yeah yours can involve creativity but not snowy slopes lol
There's a lot of longer tracks than snowy slopes 10, a lot more. Clearly you don't play tracks.
No, it's a pretty long track but snowy slopes 1-9 ?
Nah, beating a track has nothing to do with it being featured. Sure you kinda might need to, to prove that it can. especially when it's hard trials but if not then no not really. It depends on the genre the track is aiming for.
I prefer Ness's on most occasions but a few of your tracks can be fun to play. 2 of which are featured.

That's the worst part of the track, yeah but if you look at anybodies, even lolz's tracks you will find something that looks that bad if not worse.
I've said this, we all have multiple times. We've discussed Dreamt Place more than any other track that we've discussed and we just didn't think the detail was consistent enough and we didn't think it was long enough considering the type of track it was going for. If the track was as good of quality as the bg it probably would of been featured.
Twisting nether looks just, so bad and sketchy, there are certainly areas of your track that is done well but the cliffs are poorly done some of your cross hatching is just, too big or too poorly done and I honestly think twisting nether has one of the worst rides for your tracks considering your main front is play-ability.
Alex's seventh sea isn't exactly perfect and neither was his discussion, we didn't just feature it straight away it did have discussion on whether or not it should of been featured. I.e. the waterfall, the and the cliff being the bits that are the worst but considering what he made out of something else, the style he has done, the whole 3d thing is something relatively unique and creative, he made something which seems like a painting ride-able and he had done so just out of another track that was of a 2d style in a short amount of time, which to be honest deserves a lot of credit, it's not perfect but imo it's done well enough to deserve the feature and it did get the feature just about so. 3/5 voting in the end but with about a page of detailed pm discussions so we weren't just like "yeh I spose".

You act as if we haven't justified ourselves at all honey, look around and you'll see that we have, many times.
As Dillion quoted "For two featured tracks, lmao".

Things get discussed, we don't just flat out feature our own. If you want to see other stuff too, create something and it'll probably be discussed. I'm waiting.

No, that's what you want it to be, not what it is. Wipe the ignorance from your eyes snoogle.

Did I miss anything? Is there anything else you want me to reply to? I don't exactly have all the time in the world atm to reply to these so y'know. You're kind of lucky Amanda had to be somewhere this morning and that I was stuck alone at her house able to reply. Thanks for your patience for me to reply to this properly.

Have you ever played snowy slopes 10? lol dafuq? Maybe play again and check for track that is reused. And I don't think anyone's arguing that any of Ness's unfeatured tracks should be featured. Also just because it's "his best skatepark" doesn't make it a feature worthy track. You guys need to realize that. I'm really not arguing that any of his tracks should be unfeatured though. I'm arguing for tracks that deserve to be featured. Ness seems to be really buttmad regardless. Probably because no one would play his tracks if they weren't featured... anyways...

Just because it takes longer to beat doesn't mean it's longer. There are a few longer ones but that's it. A handfull (half of which are from the poster contest). And none are nearly as complex track wise. There is no other track like it on the database, and if there is, please show how unoriginal not creative I am.

lolwut? who's talking about those tracks? I don't understand why you would even bring them up. It's irrelavent. Let's put this into perspective... Snowy Slopes 1-3 were mad in 2008, long before the CR editor. I got about 100 votes on SS1 and that was my best track of the time.

I never said beating a track had anythign to do with it. I said smooth, easier tracks seldom receive a feature. I don't know which mod votes for what, but at least 3 of them hate smooth tracks. I'm not talking about anyone specific. But yes I agree that it depends on the genre that you're aiming for, but I don't think the other feature mods fully understand that.

Let's be honest. It's like half the track.

You're basically saying the same thing about both tracks except that his was made in a remix contest. Wooptie frikin doo. Does not make it a good track by any means.

yeah you missed the only post that I asked you to respond to.

A lot of what you replied to was completely irrelavent. You still ignore my main post with my actual examples of featured tracks that are worse than unfeatured tracks. Still, I can see where the feature mods are coming from. I agree with 90% of the decisions you guys make. The problem here is that tracks like Ness's are featured and tracks like mine are not (emphasis on like. Ness, calm down. It's okay. Nobody's goign to unfeature your tracks. You don't need to go defensive mode again). Personally, I would argue that it's more difficult to make a track likeSS10 work consistently than to make a track like WoE flow. It's sad that the feature mods just ignore this fact when none of them have ever attempted to make a track like it. I'm not saying they should either, buit I'm saying they should consider how much work went into it instead of posting ignorant hate about how it's garbage. Pretty sad that someone so immature has the power to moderate the featured tracks. Anyways, I think (whether they admit it or not) that most people agree that they are both good tracks in their own completely different way. WoE has nearly flawless, but very simple detail (that literally anyone could make with enough free time) and provides some lasting entertainment, while SS10 is a very complex ride with reused tracks and original jumps etc. Not to mention a 13 way intersection. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen another track with something like that. But hey, it's clear that I don't play tracks, so I'm gonna need you to confirm. I still believe that Twisting Nether is a feature worthy track, but I honestly don't care that it's not featured, so let's just drop it already. It won't affect it's popularity. I was using it as an example. The issue here is feature mods refusing to admit they might be wrong. The only real solution is more feautre mods.
