There will always be trash out there no matter what features are added, and there is currently. We shouldn't let that determine how things go.

 

I personally think that colors would remove some of the simplicity of the game and just wouldn't feel right

itd also help you learn and understand the use of colors in drawing and painting better, and i believe you might develop some serious artistic skills from it, which can be transfered to irl art!

in all honesty i used to hate the idea of adding color to the game but if the devs could make it work right then it'd be amazing ( Joelbmx 's picture for example, the colors are beautiful and make the track look 500x better), but the fr2.org coloring system was awful.

 

When I start experimenting with fill etc, who knows what will happen.

Increases drawing operations. In general thats the slowest part of the game.

 

Im thinking it would make the codes a lot bigger. He would probably have to rewrite the entire track code system. Which I believe to be possible, with some time put into it. Not that I'm an expert, but those are my most realistic conclusions.
I think the free rider track code system can be minimized more tho, as i think Maxime once mentioned evaluating the possibility. But he didn't, because it'd ruin every already existing track on the database. However in this matter, it would probably be a separate game, with separate code systems.
As i suggested to Char in a pm. I think we could have the possibility to choose whether we wish to play and make tracks in a color database, or in a separate black/white database.

 

Or even easier, have a separate option like featured, trending aso, for tracks with colors, as a test project. and then widen it, if it catches on (which it will undoubtedly)

 

I guess I'm just kind of afraid of change.
Also, it would make all the amazing tracks now seem like nothing compared to the colored one. I guess it would be alright as a separate game, but without a fill tool, it would make codes gigantic.

I remember Maxi came back and liked my Rails [MTB] track back when I released it, he was a cool guy. He had a track called Maxi's Mountain or something that he made during FR1, right? I remember you guys saying something about it being hard to find, this was all in '09 but I certainly remember him.
Also, to answer your question, the guy who made FR2.ME (meltino) made freerider2.org.

Was he involved with it when he added color or did he already sell it by that point?
