THE ANNOUCEMENT:
Hello, guys. What's up? We have some news for you guys.
Eryp and I have been talking lately and as life goes on we are getting a little bit busier with things. Eryp has being especifically busy this year so we decided that it's time for us to bring some new Forum Moderators to the forums.
We made some tests over the last couple of months to check how much power we can give to players and we pretty much realized that we can give full Mod Powers on forums, maybe a little bit more than the standard for the Forum Moderator role as it's set for the forums, but we can't go as much as given full Admin Powers to players, like we have, neither we can give Mod Powers in the game. We realized that we can give any powers that rank below the Administrator role on forums, but not much more than that.
Still, sometimes we get caught up with too many responsibilities so sharing some of them with other players will help us a little bit already. It'll also allow that we take a few small breaks now and then if it's needed.
Well, after discussing many names, several options, we decided to pick
Calculus and
Ness as the new Forum Mods. We think that both of them are responsible for this and we also think that Calculus's background with programming and ghosting will provide some good views for different aspects of the moderating job, while Ness can contribute with his experience over the years and also some trackmaking expertise, so we believe both of them are capable of handling this role with responsibility while also providing some unique ideas to the team.
While we are announcing them as Forum Moderators/Administrators, their powers consist more of the Forum Moderator role powers. We can manually change their perms, so we are conceding them all of the permissions we can and they'll have a few more powers, so we'll give them the Administrator badge as well. However, they CAN'T do some of the administrative work such as:
- Create trophies
- Create medals
- Create new subforums
- Create new roles
- Promote users to certain roles
They also CAN'T do any mod actions in the game, such as:
- Delete tracks
- Delete ghosts
- Give OA
- Add daily tracks
- Feature tracks (actually, Ness can)
- Ban users in the game
- Make email changes
- Make username changes
So for things like that, you guys can still ask Eryp and I for those or you can mention those things to them and they will bring it to us whenever they can.
But on the good side, here are the things they CAN do:
- Check and handle reports
- Warn users
- Ban users
- Check conversations if needed
- Check for matching IPs
- Delete, undelete, stick, unstick and move threads
- Delete, undelete and edit posts
- Award Medals
+ few other minor perks
On top of that, they'll be working close to us, so I'm sure they will also help us with lots of different ideas and they will also help us gather requests, opinions and ideas. They'll also be Admins in the Official Discord Server, where they will have pretty much full powers, so we would like you guys to show respect for them, as you guys have been doing to us.
