List Official Featured Ghosts

27 features before, 23 more yesterday. Exactly what you needed for Ghosting Legend. Coincidence? I think not, haha. We'll need to have a slightly further review here though, as I already mentioned to you. Insane job, regardless.

 

LITTLE UPDATE:

This ShamatoZ situation is indeed an annoying situation to handle, so we'll be locking all of the main official threads in the Races forums until we decide how we are going to proceed with all of the things we'll need to go back and edit and change (like the featured ghosts, ghosting awards, top 100 list among other things) and also how we'll proceed with possible bans and investigations of other players regarding their ghosting achievements. It's very disappointing that people keep trying to deceive us like that when we are putting an effort to do something cool, so we'll need to be way more strict from now on. We'll probably require some more solid proof in some instances, even for some established ghosters if we feel like it's necessary.

I honestly don't feel like updating this at all, so I'll get back to this whenever we decide on how we'll proceed with this. We have to improve our ways to keep the integrity of the lists. See you guys soon.

Hey, guys. What's up? It'll take several steps to handle this whole ShamatoZ situation, but let's go with Step 1.

STEP 1 - Removal of ShamatoZ's achievements in the Official Featured Ghosts thread

Even though ShamatoZ claims to have cheated on the game only since April 29th, 2022, we are removing all of their features, ghosting medals and achievements, just like we did with Symantec, especially since this period mentioned by ShamatoZ covers almost all relevant ghosting achievements ShamatoZ had, especially on forums. So here's what will be done:

- The last 23 features by ShamatoZ were not updated yet on the list, so we'll keep it that way and maintain those features with their previous owners. We'll delete those ghosts from ShamatoZ as well.
- The 27 remaining featured ghosts from ShamatoZ will also be deleted. If the 2nd place was a featured ghost before or beat a previous featured ghost, it'll be featured. If it wasn't, we might review it later.
- ShamatoZ will be losing the Legendary Ghoster medal.
- ShamatoZ will be having their peak of features and other records removed from the official lists and posts.

This is step 1. The next steps will be discussed later and will have to do with the Top 100 list, Ghosting Awards, possible bans and discussions about proof requirements in the future. See you guys later.

PS: Right now ShamatoZ is banned on forums, but we didn't decide yet if it's permanent or not.

UPDATE:

Hello, guys. Time for step 2 regarding the resolution of ShamatoZ's situation. We'll also announce some stuff regarding how we'll proceed with dealing with cheaters and also how the request for proof will work in the future. We'll announce later the details of ShamatoZ's ghosting ban as well. But let's go to Step 2.

STEP 2 - Removal of ShamatoZ's ghosting awards from the official Ghosting Awards thread

- For the Ghoster Of The Month award, ShamatoZ will be removed from the top 3 and the other players in the top 3 will have their places adjusted properly. For example if ShamatoZ finished in 1st, the 2nd placed player will get first and the 3rd will get 2nd. For the Ghoster Of The Month award by Public Votes, the 2nd place will be considered the winner.
- The main shoutout of the month for ghosters will earn the 3rd place. If there's doubts, the ghost mods will discuss it.
- For the Ghost Of The Month award, the ghost with the most votes after the winner ghost from ShamatoZ will be chosen as the Ghost Of The Month. If there's doubts or if there was a draw or an unanimous decision, the ghost mods will discuss about it.
- All of the records ShamatoZ might have set in the Ghosting Awards, alongside cool stats and stuff like that will be erased from the first post.

 

With that said, here were the changes in the Ghosting Awards:

MAY 2022 --> 1st place moves from ShamatoZ to Unghosted. Congrats, man. It's your first win there. 2nd place moves from Unghosted to Anonyymi. Egway gets the 3rd place here since he was the main shoutout. It's the 6th ghosting award top 3 from Egway, the 3rd player with the most participations there tied with Cerulean. That's crazy. The Ghost Of The Month award remained unchanged and The Ghoster Of The Month award by Public Votes was changed from ShamatoZ to Anonyymi.

JULY 2022 --> This one is an interesting one. CK9C was the main shoutout for that month, where ShamatoZ got 3rd place. So CK9C will get his first ghosting award top 3 participation. Congrats! The remaining placements in the top 3 and the Ghost Of The Month remain unchanged. The Ghoster Of The Month award by Public Votes wasn't affected by this.

DECEMBER 2022 --> ShamatoZ finished in 2nd place here. Anonyymi is moved to 2nd place now and Cerulean gets the 3rd place since he was the main shoutout of that month. All of the ghosts we even considered that month were from ShamatoZ so we are yet to announce the new "Ghost Of The Month" of December 2022. But we'll work on it and announce it soon. The Ghoster Of The Month award by Public Votes was a tie between Cerasium and ShamatoZ, so now Cerasium will take the solo victory.

All other records and stats were properly updated.

Hey, guys. What's up? We'll announce a few more steps we'll take regarding ShamatoZ's situation. Later we'll talk about some other important general decisions regarding the ghosting community that the Admins have made, alongside the help of the Ghost Mods.

STEP 3 - Regarding ShamatoZ's participation in the FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters List

- We considered removing ShamatoZ from the 2 top 100 lists they have participated, but we realized that the domino effect of this would be too annoying to handle. What I mean by that is that we didn't remove hackers/cheaters or unverified ghosters from previous lists over the yeaars, so we would need to change many things and make many replacements, some even from 4 years ago, and we just don't have a way to be too accurate about this. Yeah, I still have the conversations where the team decided the top 100 lists, but the players in the team changed literally every single year, some players there are inactive and we didn't discuss it further than the 100th position, so we can't really find 1, 2, 3 or even up to 4 replacements in some lists in a proper way. With that said, what we are doing is not letting players that were considered cheaters in previous lists (such as Symantec, ShamatoZ, Krypton and jhayde4564) or unverified ghosters (such as Trainer_Bob) take place in the new upcoming lists and we'll also mark their names in the previous lists with an asterisk, red color and a strike-through line for hackers/cheaters and with we'll do something similar with two asterisks, dark yellow and a strike-through line for unverified ghosters. So that'll be what will be done with ShamatoZ in that regard. Those users are not eligible for the main list or the specific lists in any shape or form, unless we consider them "redeemed" at some point, through some thoroughly (as much as we can) verification.

New update regarding ShamatoZ's bans.

STEP 4: Handling ShamatoZ's "bans"

- Main FRHD Site Ban: Eryp and I discussed a bit about this, but decided to not ban ShamatoZ in the game. The forums is where all of the official ghosting things take place and we feel like ShamatoZ's mistakes in the community were mostly related to that. Here is where the community interacts the most, alongside the Discord server, so we thought that we shouldn't remove ShamatoZ's access to their game in their main account. Also, people can always make alts, so there's no much point on that to be honest. Also, we don't have many reasons to believe that ShamatoZ's cheats in the game went too much further than the Official Featured Ghosts list, so banning someone that might have over 139.000 legitimate ghosts in the game because of a few dozen illegitmate ones doesn't seem necessary right now, especially since ShamatoZ ultimately came forward confessing their wrongdoings. If there's a new wave of hacked ghosts from ShamatoZ we can consider rethinking this one.
- FRHD Community Forums Ban: Well, however, ShamatoZ did cause a lot of damage in the forum community. ShamatoZ had some other warnings for impersonating players and abusing alts and some other stuff and then now we have ShamatoZ manipulating the community and causing serious damage, especially to the ghosting community on forums, for over a year? Yeah, that's tough. We banned all of ShamatoZ's alts forever and we'll ban their main account fully for 2 months. We hope they take a break from the game for a bit. After the ban is finished, we'll keep a forum restriction for a year (or something like that).
- Official Discord Server Ban: We don't think we need to ban ShamatoZ on Discord, especially because that could be a plataform where can be used by ShamatoZ to make some additional explanations if needed, from time to time. ShamatoZ's roles on Discord were removed from them, though. If something else comes up, we can consider a ban or restriction, but we don't think that's necessary for now.
- Official Ghosting Ban: Well, this one is important. Starting now, ShamatoZ is prohibited to join any official ghosting related things on forums/the game. ShamatoZ can not suggest featured ghosts, steal featured ghosts (ghosts would be deleted), be part of the next FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters main list and the specific lists, win official ghosting awards, join ghosting contests (at least the big ones that we'll need to evaluate to grant medals for) and be part of anything official we might create during this time. After this time is over, ShamatoZ can apply to rejoin the ghosting community official matters if they want, but they will need to provide solid video proof for every potential featured ghost suggested or stolen and also for ghosting contest ghosts, as we did with Symantec. If things go well with time or get worse again with time, we can discuss further measures.

So I guess this is the end of most things related to ShamatoZ's case. We will probably still add a new Ghost Of The Month for the December 2022 Ghosting Awards, but other than that, things are pretty much settled. Thanks for your patience and we'll still make 2 new annoucements soon, probably today. After those, I think we'll be able to unlock the threads and then start working on new updates, such as reviewing ghosts for this thread, starting the top 100 list and making last month's and last year's final ghosting awards. All of this will take time and I still don't know if we'll manage to do everything, but we'll try. As of right now, look forward to the announcements soon.

 

UPDATE - GRACE PERIOD:

We have 2 new annoucements to make here regarding some changes and updates regarding the ghosting community. The first one has to do with an awesome idea given by Ghost Mod NotVeryGood, the "Grace Period".

ABOUT CHEATERS/HACKERS:

The idea is to set a "Grace Period" on which the players can come clean and admit in case they are hacking/cheating in the game or have done in a recent past, especially if they have some of these ghosts in the official featured ghosts list or in big ghosting contests. We want to do that to encourage players to come forward so we can move on properly with this. I was talking to Eryp about this and we realized that we would rather keep the players in the community than fully exclude them. Our community has lost many valuable players over the years so we don't want to lose many more due to some dumb decisions. Yeah, of course that we want people to come clean with this and proceed properly running alongside the community, we can't have people causing problems to us over and over again with no punishments, but if the players caught with something problematic are willing to do things the right way from now on we are all for it.

This idea is that, if a player comes clean during this "grace period", that we didn't set a time limit for it yet, the player will have a slightly easier path to rejoin the ghosting community. Yeah, we'll still need to delete featured ghosts and remove ghosting awards, but maybe we don't need to include a ghosting ban or forum ban. Some video proof could still be required, if we seem fit.

But this is the way if you are found in this situation. It's better than all of the other stressful options.

ABOUT ALTS:

Another thing that this "Grace Period" would cover would be players owning up to having alts that might have caused some ghosting impact in the community. This idea was conceived by the Ghost Mod Calculus. If you have an alt that is also included as a separate ghoster in the top 100 list, ghosting awards, official featured ghosts list or maybe something you used in a ghosting contest, or maybe you own an account that is considered as an unverified ghoster and you want to let us know, please do. It'll help us to organize things right now and in the future.

Admitting to owning alts that impacted the ghosting community won't really cause any problems for you right now, if you do this during this Grace Period, unless you were also caught cheating in the game. For the cheaters, owning up to having alts will be a good thing for making us trust you again, so I would recommend that as well.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT:

My message to ShamatoZ, Symantec and for all of the other players that have cheated in the game or might be doing it right now stays the same. This is not the end of the world, this doesn't need to define you as a player and definitely not as a person, but it's just not worth it. I have had some little fun with alts in the past, so I know how it can be cool to be mysterious or being someone that no one expects do to well and then surprise people, but just the little attention won't make you feel better in the long run. It won't make you a better player or a better person. After some time it won't feel as cool as it used to and you just will find yourself in a worse place than before. So just be honest, be you, try to be respectful and then people might respect you naturally. Grind on ghosting if that's what you want, grind on trackmaking if that's what you want, grind on help the community or hosting things if you want to maybe one day be a part of the "staff", or even try to just enjoy the game without putting that much effort into it, it's fine going with any of those options. Just don't try using illegal shortcuts for being recognized.

Also, at the end of the day we are just trying to make the forums and the game more enjoyable, but without the help and resources from Kano we can't do much. Let's just try to help each other and act with some common sense from now on, so none of us will need to see their grind goes to waste. Works for trackmakers, ghosters, mods and admins.

UPDATE - VIDEO PROOF FOR OFFICIAL GHOSTING MATTERS:

Hey again, guys. Well, the last annoucement for now is regarding the request for video proof for official ghosting matters. What we are saying is that we (ghost mods and admins) may request video proof at anytime if we think it's necessary for an official ghosting matter. Like, we may ask for a video proof of you ghosting the track where you have a featured track if we have reasons to believe it's not legitimate. Same goes for ghosting contests or just for anything, like if we want to consider you for the top 100 list but we have some suspicions. We usually will request video proof that shows the screen and the keyboard/hands at the same time, but the situations may vary depending on what we need to see. We'll judge if the proof is enough, but it's good to see something close enough to your ghost being reviewed, even if it takes many attempts in the video. We'll try to be open and respectful to discuss deadlines, limitations and we'll be open to help the ones that might not be the most knowledgeable people regarding to screen recording.

We are not saying that we'll do it for every single situation, but what I'm saying is that if we have reasons to suspect of someone (maybe they just started playing the game, they have a history of cheating in the game in the past or maybe the ghost just looks suspicious or something else) we'll ask for video proof and the player isn't allowed to refuse it, if they want to join the list and the official ghosting matters. If they don't want to join, they can still play the game, but if their ghosts interfere with what we are doing we might need to take action, that could go from putting their ghosts as unverified to maybe even ghost deletions or bans, if the case is a serious one.

So, I'll tag every player that had a featured ghost at some point in the official featured ghosts list + some extra players that have won and kept ghosting awards or medals from the past (won't do it for everyone in the top 100 list, though, since it's a lot of people and we'll try to consider all of those things in future lists), so they can decide to agree or not with this update in order to be in the list. If you don't say anything, we'll consider that you agree with this or at least don't mind it. If you aren't doing anything suspicious and wrong, it most likely won't be a problem at all for you.

Any questions, let us know. I'll see with the other admins and ghosting mods if we have any additional things to talk about before unlocking the main threads. If we don't, the threads will be unlocked soon enough.

We'll discuss if we are going to make a notice/banner for this or not, but we'll consider that the message was sent and I'll be tagging the players now.

All main ghosting threads are now unlocked. We should resume working on updates shortly, but it might take some time for things to come out, since we had to spend some time putting effort on this ShamatoZ situation. But I feel like we can start moving on now.
