I don't want to just rephrase everything Maple just said, but that's good advice. I would recommend referencing CityShep, he seems to be good at that. Something else I would mention would be that you are trying to convey perspective and depth, and that needs to be constant. When things are far away, they are not only smaller, but more condensed. (see screenshot). The closer things get the more spread out, or larger, they are. When it comes to grass I would recommend putting small lines far away, and much more clustered in addition to what maple said, with larger and more curved lines up front.

The danger to following this, that I've found, is that drawing in freerider isn't quite like taking a photograph, or drawing a picture. There usually aren't things in the foreground. Notice how in my ss the lines on the "road" get larger, but the one up front is lengthened and enlarged to an unnatural size. Depth once taken past an imaginary line (dotted line) can get larger, and you don't want to try and convey anything closer than that, unless you are ready for that kind of drawing in freerider. In can often look awkward and be hard to do.

As an artist I recommend thinking about objects as one with their shadow, and as such condensing objects slowly into hatching (like what cityshep does) can help when I'm drawing. I have a good video on shading and how it works (see below). this can be used in freerider when you want to make things look a little better. Thinking of it as shadows can seem complicated, but it's not really that hard, and it's simpler to think of it as value change to make things look better. When looking at depth and perspective this can really push it to the next level. Even using hatching to convey texture can be easier than actually trying to draw whatever it is.

My example: Screen Shot 2022-10-18 at 6.04.18 PM.png (sorry about the grid, but I was in a rush and I'm not going to redraw it just to take the grid out)

    References I would recommend: http://frhd.co/t/286847-low-point - cityshep

Lastly I would remember that people can have very stylized ways of drawing, and that's okay, but that can be hard to replicate, or even think about. Take bits and pieces of things you like about people's drawings and incorporate it. It'll be much better in the long run.

edit: PM me if you want more links, or author's I'd recommend

    Good luck!

Dang. Thanks for the help. I little bit of context about the background. Basically, this is the whole track:
    upload_2022-10-19_16-20-38.png
So this circle is going to be revisited later in the ride and you would be riding on the horizon at the top. I've looked at it several times and thought that it looks a little weird (mostly because the hill at the top is as big as the mountains lol), so yeah. Perspective and size adjustment is going to have to be thought about and done. The hill in the back is way too big and the detail patches in the middle need to have the grass fade out (forgot to do that, sorry). Overall, looking at it, I think I made the entire thing at a strange-ish angle. There will be a lot of erasing done in the near future, for sure. Innominate, thanks for the screenshots of the tracks, especially fluffy's. Maple, thanks for initially pointing out the perspective flaw and thanks for the drawing (dang, why you gotta show me up like that? I might have to borrow a little from that river of yours for shoreline stuff). Overall, big thanks to you guys.

Now I'm the one that needs help. I'm currently making an underwater themed track, but in a lot of places It's hard to add more than plants or bubbles. How should I
    1. Add more diversity to the flora
    2. recreate animals semi-realisticly into freerider.

this is what I have so far:

And this is what I'm looking to recreate:

Look at reference images of kelp and seagrass, and if the environment is right try adding coral.
As to animal life, you look like you've done pretty well at that so far. I can refer you to Jettyside, Project Wilderness, Calypso, Skeleton Sea, maybe Mariana by Coager and Born to Explore as tracks with underwater detail that would be really useful right now. You might already be using some of these tracks as references.

None of those animals are mine, and I said as much. The plants are. Thanks though

I tend to slow down my brush speed, and usually have my brush length a bit above the minimum. Makes the brush lines less nervous-looking.

Tree's leaves look good, maybe just add some volume to them.

I've been scaling down the brush all the way on both, noted though. Thanks. You're my main reference as of right now, I love your rock and plant detail. Very crisp and aesthetic. Perfectly placed. Big fan of skeleton sea. Now I have to take the time to beat it

Yeah. The tree is going to have a massive makeover soon. I'm just dreading the time it will take and the potential of messing it up, so I'm kinda putting it off for a bit

Looking for help for a stig/maple style.

Track already drawn because it's for FRWC, so that came first, of course, but I'm trying to do something like stig, Maple , Holystone , or SilentFinger . All black line style (mostly), lmk if you have tips. Thanks!

try not to have your cliffs made out of completely straight lines. More variation in the angles of the lines and also some vegetation down there would help with this.
