what is a ghoster/spacebarrer

Um?? Spacebarring is not cheating, in fact every single good ghoster used the spacebarring tactic. Find a good ghost by a well known ghoster and its a 99% chance that they used spacebar

 

Apparently, this person I know is using almost many adult words to conscribe his thoughts.

 

I am NOT having this same generic argument about space-barring. Suffice it to say, even though plenty of people use it, there is not a unanimous answer among the community as to whether it is good form to spacebar or not.

spacebarring isn't cheating. It's easy to do and anyone can do it. People who don't spacebar arent taking advantage of all the possibilities and advantages that the game offers.

It's just how non- spacebarrers think, they think it's cheating because the spacebarrers beat their ghosts, it's how i used to think honestly but now since i spacebar I don't think it's cheating.

i agree with this post - i feel that it isn't exactly cheating, just taking advantage of one of the games features, and the ones who don't use it feel that "spacebarrers" have an unfair advantages but I don't believe it counts as cheating.

As a new player who just found out about spacebarring I have a question. Am I safe to assume that most of the experience I've gotten from non-spacebarring in the past few weeks is pretty much useless after I switch to spacebarring? Spacebarring feels so different and I keep getting way worse times than when non-spacebarring. Demotivating af.

 

Keep training and zooming in will help a lot, after hard training it will be much useful. And your non-spacebarring experience will help you just focus on your moves.

 

Keep at it. I've been spacebarring for about a year now and I like to think I'm pretty good. I barely made the leaderboards at all when I didn't. Some tips I have are 1. Use down+up. It's actually the best way to generate grip slowing down. 2. I spacebar at an average of 0.13 seconds per spacebar, 0.10 when focused, so that's the sort of range to aim for. 3. try to learn complicated trial maneuvers. Watch https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/504102-house-trial/r/tetrationiscool, and then try to replicate as much of it as you can (I can only make it to the second checkpoint tho). You can even make your own mini trials to help you practice stuff, you don't have to publish them but I would like some more trials. https://www.freeriderhd.com/u/notverygood/created has made some really hard stuff, some of which can be quite useful. 4. A good way to practice ghosting is to try your hand at trickghosting. Thanks both of you for your advice. I've already gotten pretty consistent with my spacebars. It's still hard to get good times in certain maps because you can't really tell if your momentum is good or bad while spacebarring. Easier to just "brute force" the track until I get to the leaderboards.
Other than that, spacebarring seems fun and I'm excited to start finishing some of the harder trial tracks.

 

Not an argument thread despite the extensive ghost-n'-spacebar interference to what you did under spasmodic situations.
