Hmmm, so my neat, on time, and cleanly track got best by a sloppy, late track. Go figure.

 

Yeaaahhhh, Mayhem's was good, but we can't discredit how late he was. It's kind of unfair to everyone else. Yours was definitely neater, an while his was more extensive, i would say that yours was more cohesive as a track.

There is nothing to restart with the late thing. Mayhem should be disqualified and that is it. You said that you would disqualify anyone who uploaded more than a day late as per the quote below:

Joel was five hours late and he pasted his track link here in the forums on February 18th at 3:41pm Eastern Time according to the timestamp. As you said, his entry will count, but what I am getting at is the deadline. I don't remember the exact deadline, but according to Joel's publication time, subtracting five hours, that puts the deadline at around 11:00am Eastern time on February 18th.

MayhemMercenary pasted his track link in the forum on February 20th at 1:41pm Eastern Time based on its time stamp. That would put it at almost two days late. Therefore, it should be disqualified because it was published more than a day after the deadline.

I am not trying to pick sides here or anything. To be honest, I placed low enough that this really doesn't affect me, but I am speaking out for others. Mayhem had a phenomenal entry, so did spruce, so did joel, so did zwinxz, the list goes on, but the results are unfair to those who followed the deadline. You laid down the rules (1 day late allowable) and listed a punishment (disqualification). It isn't fair to go back and change those rules now. The deadline was flexible so that we wouldn't miss out on great tracks just because people would be late, but we didn't miss out on those great tracks. Five featured tracks came out of this round. We didn't miss out on Mayhem's track because of the deadline, he will just miss out on winning this round.

As you said, you don't want to restart this argument, but in my eyes, there is no argument. You made a rule, you listed a punishment, the rule was followed, so the punishment should stand. End of story.

Just reread this, and honestly I do think it is a cool idea, but I personally reckon 2 points for a good ride? No offense and I don't expect anything out of this post but imo it would be better with two things, worth a point each. That way to get the bonus two people really have to push outside their limits to make an amazing that is better then everyone else, and do something else.

Imo the best thing to do would follow how universities deal with lateness. For each day late you lose 10% of you mark/score (whatever), After 5 days you get a flat 0, gg no re, don't bother submitting. Mayhem got what? an extra 1-2 days? take points off per day he was late or 2 per day if you don't think a point is punishment enough. Straight up disqualifying him I feel is crazy harsh and would probs make me not want to participate in the competition any further if I was in his shoes.
