There is less motivation than ever to make tracks. It's summer, people are not playing as much. The trending tracks are getting about 1/3 of the traffic they used to. Trending should either be the first or second list, because this site is dying.

I don't really see the site dying within the last few days, but I'm a bit biased because I've always wanted to get rid of trending.
I think maybe have it second and hot third, or it actually might be nice for the order to be randomized every time the site is loaded.

In my opinion its hard to say which one should go first, it depends on the priority of the individual member. I don't like seeing the spam that (usually) inhabits the trending, newest, and hot section, but I understand that is the token most authors use to motivate themselves to make tracks, which is the driving force of the game. But then that takes away from the importance of features, which deserve attention more than other tracks (that's the purpose of the feature).

Have we ruled out orienting the page vertically instead of horizontally so that the first of every section gets a top spot?
How about taking away the "hot" section because it kinda seems redundant?
Or maybe a bar of "what to play" that combines your subscriptions, trending, featured, etc?
Perhaps being able to arrange the bars however you like?
    Even a rotating order?

I say remove the hot section for sure, and maybe even remove subscriptions fr the home page and put it on the side bar. I'm all for the vertical layout too. And speaking of randomization, the featured tracks should be randomized except maybe the first few, or maybe when a track is featured it will stay in the front for a select period of time. Or just copy the canvas rider layout, because it was way better. Still waiting for some of these necessary changes btw. It's so sad to see this game dying out. I don't think it will ever be as popular as it was, but there's still hope.

I didn't realize it was only for official authors... then again everyone is an official author. It's not like taking away my official author status will do anything lol... I honestly wouldn't care whatsoever. But I still think the current layout is too cluttered

I'd say remove that feed above everything for campaigns and the store and such to make room. Awh, the sub bar was my idea :(
But no, FRHD will never be as big as CR, our plays were both in the millions when it shut down. TBH my idea is to make this site as much like Youtube as possible, as it is the most successful art sharing website out there. To keep the game from dying, it'd be good to have a few PAID artists, the ones who put out consistently quality and attractive tracks for new people to play and get interested in the game. That would also increase motivation among those higher profile track-makers to put out more tracks, making the site more active with high quality tracks. But those are just my ideas, they go beyond the trending bar :p
This site could use a few more workers to really add things quickly, no offense to the current ones, but with two its hard to pay attention to everything.

How about we just change the titles

Instead of "featured tracks" and etc. the titles should be "iTzFeatured" and "iTzTrending". Maybe instead of "hot tracks" the title could even be "iTzOnFire" or "iTzHotInHere"

This would also motivate people on the site, iTzChuckNorris is a very popular track maker, and everyone wants to strive to be an iTz. People look up to iTz like they looked up to FDR after Pearl Harbor. iTz an honor to be an iTz.

    Char please consider

I'm going to make alot of things clear to you, and save char alot of trouble explaining all this for you.
    1. Without the hot section, the majority of tracks would end up with far less votes/plays than they are already receiving, as alot of tracks would fly by undiscovered in the "newest"-section. it would not only negatively affect the noobs, but also your tracks. everyone would reveive far less plays and likes. the average time a user spends on frhd at a time, would also drastically decrease, as there's less to check upon. the hot and trending lists are two highly different lists, which both are neccessary.

    2. Objectively, the featured tracks list is not more important than the trending list. The trending list represents what the majority enjoys to play, while the featured tracks are picked by only a handful, with different subjective opinions that have been bred through years of gameplay and, forum- norms and expectations. To have trending above and more prioritized than featured is a natural choice, maybe not to any of us, but for FRHD. this is why officials have featured at the top and not regulars. its a bit of a flop imo tho (dont tell char ssh), since basicly everyother user is official. most officials dont have different track preferences than noobs.

    3. Paying authors would most likely not be anything that kano can afford, considering all the expenses there are for just maintaing the website, and developing this game. And what guarantee is there that people would suddenly and magically grow better, while managing to create tracks that appeal to the majority of the members? it's without doubt a solid 0%
Besides, why would anyone pay someone for something they are doing volunteerly already, and what would change if they actually got paid :p

    4. Eventhough the game could have needed more workers, i highly doubt that making more people spending their time on FRHD would be economically beneficial. If they were to place more people on the projects, you would have to expect ALOT more ads++ to finance that extra coworker.
What char can spend his working time on, regarding the development of FRHD, is also highly restricted. There's no point in paying someone for doing work that brings less income, than it brings outcome. So say that char spends an entire workday working on re-arranging the frontpage, switching places btw trending, featured etcetc, VS working on the mobile app. What do you think ends up bringing in more money, if any, to kano? If he was re-arranging the frontpage, it would be zero, and they would still have to pay him a days wage.
sidenote; ive actually asked to become more involved in the marketing-aspect of frhd myself, by making the frhd social medias more active. i have some personal plans and strategies on how i can use platforms such as the fb-page to increase popularity to frhd. just waiting for the boss' go/no-go right now.

    i sleep now

People tend to go at summer, I don't think you understand the rotation of play.
The featured as said is only for the official authors. I think it's a good touch and have no clue why stig doesn't think it's that way (noobs amirite ;) ;) ) maybe having the whole thing editable in your personal preference.
The rest of the members have trending at top so any legitimate issue is just because people aren't playing right?

if people don't like to featured tracks at the top they can go ask to char to remove official author since most went asking to char to have it

    1. Okay that's fine.

    2. Trending for regulars, featured for officials does seem like a smart idea, I didn't know there was a difference, I feel like if you're official, you're going to check all the sections rather than a typical one-and-done user

    3. Now I'm not talking about a salary or anything, I'd say 50% of the ad revenue their tracks receive is a fair cut. I'd also say that it'd be smart to only put ads on the most popular tracks at the moment, but make them ads that you can not skip. I never said that paying authors would make them better, I said it would make them more productive. Do you remember how fast lolz666 snapped into action and made CCE when the prize of the contest was an xbox or something? Sure you'd get paid less than an xbox for every track, but it is still a way to encourage high-level track design. This system would only be offered to highly esteemed authors, like Maple, lolz, you, etc, and get the creative juices flowing once more. If FRHD only paid for finished tracks, people who frequently do not finish their tracks (cough cough, you, cough cough and me too, cough cough) may have a higher incentive to finish the track. Authors like lolz666 and maple don't voluntarily make tracks anymore (at any speed faster than continental drift), and i feel this is a way to spark greater amounts of high-level track production. Kano would not lose loads of money by giving together maybe 5 or 6 authors 50% of their track's ad revenue, but would instead have a more productive community.

    4. I don't really care about making this point either, getting authors paid is my lovechild. All I can say if we had a worker to work purely on getting more things into existing features (instead of new features altogther), we'd probably have things like buyable campaigns, checkpoints that save your time if you pay some coins, etc. I feel like ads are not the way to go, especially for a mobile game, but rather in app purchases. If you had like 20 campaigns that you could only play if you could buy them with coins, don't you think more people would buy coins?

Those are my thoughts, I don't really care though

honestly i think they should pay people on release for something like omen by maple, it would help someone like maple since he is at the age where money is very helpful and it would help frhd because he would have a reason to spend time on drawing his epic art, instead of just wasting time for other stuff he should do irl

They really need to make another status after official, such as elite. Elite authors could get paid. I feel like once someone is official, and their 2 second tracks get top trending, there's nothing to motivate them anymore. Even though that's "not possible" right now, it's something to consider.

Why do you want to get paid so bad, if you want some money make some art and sell it. Don't try to mooch off of a small game industry who can barely afford money to keep this place going.

It's actually me that wants to get paid. And we are creating art, it just so happens that it is not sellable in this medium, but we still spend hours of our lives to create it. It's not mooching off an industry, if anything the industry is taking advantage of creators who are willing to dedicate time and skill without reward, like unpaid interns hired to do the job of a ceo. I am saying we should get 50% of our own ad revenue, seeing that we attracted users to the track and created it all, it only makes sense we get a share of the spoils, just how youtube works.

Youtube is rich because it pays its high-quality video producers to create more content, which in turn attracts more users, brings in more revenue, pays more producers, etc. Youtube wasn't always rich, but they took a risk, you gotta spend money to make money, and it paid off.
