like, it is pretty hard to live with it because you arenrt able to be attentionative, and its an easy target for people who bully, so i have been bullied lots in the past years...

I haven’t been bullied, but I do have ADHD. It sucks. Sometimes I twiddle my thumbs to focus. We made an agreement with my teachers to let me chew gum. Occupying yourself with something that requires little attention can help.

Man. Been thinking about some heavy stuff lately. As much as I believe in the inevitability of death and have embraced that it could come at any moment as a firefighter, I dread the day I'll have to deal with it. I don't ever want to have to tell someone that their kid or parent didn't make it, or hear the final call of one of my brothers or sisters. I guess at some point I'll grow numb to the deaths of others, but until then I don't think it'll be easy

Yeah, that's heavy. I always wondered how the people who work on this kind of job deal with this stuff. Firefightes, doctors, nurses, police officers sometimes, it must be tough. You have to really believe on what you are doing, and the good that can come with it, I guess. It's way easier to talk when you are not in the frontline for this stuff, but I think that this type of job comes with many great and terrible moments. Sometimes you might save someone from a certain death, sometimes you might not be as lucky, so you'll probably be prepared for this kind of situation, but I feel like at the end of the day, it's important that you don't become 100% numb to it. I feel like caring is important for this job, to give your best shot at trying to resolve the situation in the best way possible, but I know that it's probably hard to do in the long run. It's important that those things still matter to you, since unfortunately they can happen in your family one day, and you should be able to feel the sad moments, just as much as the happy ones. They are important and can teach some great lessons, even if it's uncomfortable. However, I know that you probably have the right motivation since you are on this job, but I think you should really work on focusing on all the good you can make with this. Our minds usually pay attention to what didn't work way more than what went right, but that is probably a tough mentality to have on this job. I feel like if you were able to save nine people but couldn't do it for one, try to focus on what you could accomplish, the smiles of relief on their family members faces, how many dreams you helped keeping alive and stuff like that. Whatever emergency happened, it's never you guys fault, you are usually trying to fix and resolve things caused by other factors, so you should make peace with that. Without you guys, those people would probably be doomed, so everything you guys accomplish should be counted as a victory, no matter if it's rescuing a cat from the tree or saving a school from a fire. Best of luck to you, man. It takes a bold human being to be in the frontline like that, so you have my respect for that.

    Hello once more!
I haven't posted here in a while and I just wanted to say that I am feeling a lot better now. I can't find the posts that I made earlier but thank you Wayward and Madara for giving me advice. I'm not sure how to express it but you both helped more than you know. Now I just hope another year of school won't wash away my progress... anyway, I hope everyone here will get the help they need!

im curious about how certain things would've gone if i made a different decision. would it be better or worse? were these problems still exist? maybe yea maybe not. it makes you think tho, trying to make the best decisions becomes kinda trickier because you need to think long ahead of the expected results and evaluate different outcomes. it's annoyingly similar to chess, if you make this move what is possible in the future, and is it good or bad? and you have no takebacks. once you make the decision you cant back up. so how do we know which decision to make? good question. and possibly there are many answers to it. but if you think about it, it kinda doesn't matter, does it? once you see many good outcomes and you cant make a decision, it kinda becomes useless. you cant really live through all the outcomes. you can only pick one. should this kind of thought eliminate indecisiveness? maybe, im not sure. but its definitely more complicated to come up with an answer in just a short amount of time.

hi i've been away from free rider and away from most social media's mainly just to focus on myself and tbh its been going good. sometimes being alone helps me because i dont have to worry about things and i can do other things with myself instead of checking up on everyone and everything. i will slowly be comeing back to frhd mainly because its a game that i can enjoy and have fun on and create things and its awesome to be able to make things and have other people play them. so i have been feeling better and will continue to get better. hope yall are having a pleasant day as well. <3

Love that. Taking a break from everything really helps push a 'reset' button. In the first week of my break, I fasted all forms of modern instant gratification over 3 days. For me, this was social media, gaming, unhealthy food and other things *nudge nudge. This was very beneficial because I could slowly begin to add things back in a way that was healthy to my lifestyle. I found afterwards I could control dopamine urges so much better.
It's the little things like if your phone pings, not needing to see what it is straight away. Or backing away to a screen every time there's boredom. Just accepting that you don't need to be doing something all the time. It's healthy to sit back and do nothing every now and then.
Overall, I learnt to be able to say yes and no to urges where I would have usually gave in because it was easy.

Sorta like what COVID is doing to people right now. Take it slow and change their approach. Change habits, start anew. Yes people lost love ones but, everyone will learn something from COVID. Even if it's good or bad, someone will learn something.

Though, I need to do the same. I've gotten some terrible habits over a few months and slowly need to get rid of them. Sooner I start, the better? Whenever I start to stop the habits, the better I'll feel.

Totally agree. People have lost a lot due to covid. Family and friends. Another aspect is the social dynamics that came out of it. People were spending more time by themselves or with family. Which was either constructive or destructive. For me, it was a great opportunity to strengthen my bond with my family. However, others may have found themselves in abusive environments which they were trapped in. Others craved that social interaction and felt like they were trapped. I feel like people are coping much better now tho, with knowing what to expect.

"Sooner I start, the better? Whenever I start to stop the habits, the better I'll feel."
If you were to look at 'any' motivational youtube video/ted talk, they would say to start things now rather than waiting for a 'perfect time'. However, I disagree. You should only commit to something when you are prepared to do so. Set a date, set how long you're doing it for, and what you're allowed and not allowed to do. I also told my family and close friends as accountability and awareness if they need to contact me. Don't care about what others think. Because by doing little things like this helps keep on track of becoming the person you want to become.

I found in the past I would keep getting back into my bad habits after a while. I would keep record of the streak without doing said bad habit and lose insight eventually. This rarely happens anymore. I sat down and reflected if I wanted these habits in the future. If the answer is no, then if I don't stop them now, It would be no different in the future. The key here is to create systems in your life as if you are the person you want to become, not a goal you want to reach. Instead of wanting to start/stop something, you change the lifestyle itself as a whole.

Of course each person has a different journey, so it will look different for each person. A real sign of maturity and mental wellbeing is to find what works for you, not something someone else has done. Sure, looking to others for inspiration is great and motivating, but personalize your lifestyle around your own strengths and weaknesses to continue growing and learning day to day to become the person you want to become.

    Alright here goes for me:
At my school (I won't tell you which one), I just changed instruments in the school band from F French Horn to Bb Trumpet. I got so used to the French Horn I'm kind of struggling with the musical pieces that I usually would play on the French Horn. I just hope there's a way to kind of boost me, inspire me a bit more.
