You do understand the Medicare tax isn't a tax on Medicare, it's a tax on everyone's wages to pay for Medicare right? Same with Social Security. I find it interesting you like the Medicare tax because both it and Social Security are the definition of "socialist" taxes :)

      EDIT: a word

I didn't say that we should avoid taxes either.

I support those taxes when the people paying for them actually HAVE medicare.

Every person in the county who gets a paycheck pays them. Not everyone in the county is on Social Security or Medicare.

Then now you know my position on this issue. The fact that many people pay for things they don't use is, as I see it, the problem.

      So...Medicare for all?

EDIT: But didn't you call Medicare a fair tax?

No, it shouldn't be handed out like some "human right."

So you don't think older folks who can't afford health care should get it? You just want them to die of treatable diseases? Because nobody likes money coming out of their paychecks and nobody wants people to die of treatable diseases...so the question is which is more important to you?

Also in a Medicare for all situation, everyone would be paying for it and everyone would be benefiting, isn't that your criteria for a fair tax?

Medicare technically is a human right for Americans.

No it isn't. You'll have to point out where in the Constitution it says that.

It's not in the constitution, it wasn't enacted until the 60's (with bi-partisan support).

Of course, the best case to make for this is an appeal to emotion. But they overlook the role of government as established by the Constitution. Furthermore, there are state programs to help out folks like these. We don't need to be fully reliant on free government aid. Instead, people can be free to make their own choices, and they'll even have more money to do so because the government hasn't taken it from them.
Everyone paying and everyone benefitting is only fair if everyone is using it.

Where do you think the states get the money for those programs? And how much more money will they need to raise via taxes to expand that program were Medicare to be abolished?

The Constitution is a wonderful document but there are many things the writers of it didn't take into account because it was the 1770's. Like how expensive medical care would be once we advanced it. Or how many people are incapable of saving for retirement, which is a problem since so many of us live to retirement now in single generation homes. Or how the economics of scale in a society with our level of technological advancement makes a "free market" without government intervention a fanciful dream.

States have their own taxes, but a lot of their money does come from the us government as a whole. Also, Trump really want wants to get rid of the AFA probably because he thinks that the nickname (Obama care) is the actual name, and he just hates it because it has Obama in the name.

Conservatives on this thread: Let me guess, your home?

All of the liberals on this thread: Yes, it was and it was beautiful.

*this thread then transforms from a crap hole full of arguing conservatives into a peaceful land full of non Trump supporters*
