In my opinion, this is a good idea but it could be done differently. There could be 3 ranks of authors, ranked by staff. At the bottom, no rank. Followed by Notable author which just gets that special title. Then Official Author, which gets extra privileges, like new editor and such, along with a cool sign on their profile. At the top, Featured Authors. That's where you'd put people like cataclysm, nasrani, deadrising2, ItzChuckNorris, ilolz666, and a few others.These guys get a lot of attention, probably somewhere on the frhd page.
All ranks should have another perk too. There should be a viewable list by all players that lists them. A section for notables, officials, and featured authors. With the current official author system, it brings literally no more well deserved attention to them. A circled star doesn't do too much
. Anyway, each rank should have its own symbol. Maybe a check mark for Notable Authors, the circled star for Official Authors, and for Featured Authors, a huge sign that says "FEATURED" on their profile. Probably better symbols could be used, that's just what I thought up.
This is all my opinion however, it's completely up to
Char and the admins. I might have taken it too far with 3 ranks, but as I said its up to char. This idea of adding new ranks is pretty smart in my opinion, it has great potential.
