that is true. I apologize for me previous rude statement. everyone has to start somewhere, and I think that we all have the potential to be amazing. Except for maybe AfterThoughts . That guy is a loser. Made an account and then used it once and deleted the track. smh so sad honestly

At the end of the day the Qualifiers are already a filter in some level. Last year we had 70 players signing up, 48 completing the Qualifiers track and only 32 advancing to the actual Group Stage. So I feel like we don't need to change the difficulty too much if we get a good amount of players. But maybe last year's Qualifiers was a bit tough with that tube at the end. Here it is for you guys to have an idea (for those who didn't participate):

I feel like it everything before that final section is fair game, though.

I disagree, this is literally TPlacella asking for the tracks to fit his ghosting type and skill level.

Ok mate, but from memory last years track were challenging but not to an extent where only a few people actually completed the track or a leaderboard was not filled.

Secondly, why would you host a World Cup/Championship with sub-par difficulty tracks? It's like going into the FIFA World Cup with the reserve team. From my sport of Orienteering whenever there is a high end race (most recently the Australian Champs) I want the course to be difficult and the winner to be the best all-round athlete. I was slightly annoyed at the simplicity of the relay and sprint course at those championships, but impressed with the middle and long distance (apart from one track slog leg) because the courses were really technical and the athlete with the cleanest runs mixed with fast terrain speed would generally win. I believe the best in the world should be challenged to their full capabilities which is aided by a more difficult track, but it also develops spectator interest at how an individual can complete such a difficult track so quickly.

Lastly, I don't think you needed to word your response in such a way, it only makes people lose respect for you and provokes unnecessary internet arguments. I understand your point of view but I think a lot of the more experienced and accomplished riders (of which the competition is primarily aimed towards) would prefer the difficulty to remain similar to previous years. We can agree to disagree though.

e: tldr: coagers post (^) sums the point up well.

Bro you guys are arguing over nothing. From playing around with the previous FRWC Tracks, I noticed that the difficulty wasn't low but not high either, but most of the time the tracks were a bit crammed into one place. Thus when I referred to making the tracks easier (easier by being spread out more) it can also refer to the length of the track physically and ghost-wise. This barely makes it easier but you could say it favours my ghosting style, but it is just to make the tracks less annoying, not hard, but less annoying. This is just to induce a little more competition for the mid-runners so times in ghosts and time-making ghosts become similar.

Good example: (Spread out, slightly easier, still with variety even for a Qualifying Track): https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/779007-frwc5-qualifiers
Bad example: (Crammed, slightly harder, more trial based and annoying): https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/782546-frwc5-group-stage-match-3

I'm not the one calling the shots here, but even if the difficulty is the same in different styles of tracks, more people prefer one type over the other.

Seeing all these people join makes me think that maybe the forums isn't as dead as we all think. But, on the other hand I still have the feeling that it is dead.

They should make the world cup tracks just copies of campaign maps I’m good at, I think that would be fair imo and also make it mobile only and also make it only Australia and also make it only available for people who have an in game name starting with w, I think with these changes to the rules competition would be maximised and would be very interesting and fair.:p:D

Just make it all the tracks smooth. No one will have a problem with those.
Also, what's considered long? Tracks I see nowadays range from 3-30, rarely clocking 40 seconds at most. If I do make a track, it's going to be 1.5-3 minutes long to test your endurance and consistency.
There are only those who are committed to the game and those who are not committed to the game.

I believe it's sort of like what Coager said, making the tracks easier is a bit tricky, because how much could be considered too easy?
would it be better to sacrifice difficulty for smoothness and a bit more ease and playability, rather than offering a challenge to the player?
I understand wanting to make it more consistent though, glitches like clipping through the ground out of nowhere should be avoided as best as possible as nobody likes that, but not sure if lowering the difficulty of all the tracks would be the best idea, since it still is a ghosting competition after all. In the 4th edition, when I was much worse at the game, most of those tracks seemed a fair level of difficulty to me, they gave me some struggle but overall I think it was pretty good, and it seemed to work for most people. I'm not sure how much it was changed in the 5th edition, but I think that the trackmakers will at least have ghosting and accessiblity in mind to some level with every track they make
also since it's more of a fun competition this year, I don't think any trackmakers are going to go out of their way to make the rides of their tracks annoying or inconsistent to the point of frustration just to play
