Hello Everyone and welcome to the Round of 16 in the Free Rider World Cup 5. I didn’t make any commentary in the group stages because I couldn’t be bothered but will try for the rest of the tournament. If you missed my epic commentary from the qualis, you can find it here:
https://community.freeriderhd.com/threads/free-rider-world-cup-5.12778/page-41#post-281349. We had a nice off road track made by SCrane and Apocolypse and there were some interesting matchups, but I’ll be covering the closest one which was contested between Stevie.T and DrChill. In the poll Stevie.T was up 21-0 (Source: Totoca12), but it was closer than everyone thought. Here we go:
And off they go, Stevie.T getting a tiny lead early and gets the first star first. Into the first checkpoint and they are both still really close, but Stevie.T is fractionally ahead. They bounce off the wall/ceiling thingo (idk what to call it) after the checkpoint and DrChill takes the lead, but Stevie.T comes back and overtakes to marginally reach the second star first. Back past the first checkpoint and DrChill takes the lead, but Stevie.T regains it after a minor error in a landing from DC. Back past the starting line and Stevie.T is extending his lead and beats DrChill by a healthy margin into the second checkpoint, Stevie.T drops down into the caves first leading DrChill by about 0.30 seconds. But what’s this DrChill flips himself around the ledge to get into one of the caves while Stevie.T goes the easier way and loses just under a second total time. DrChill moves into the third star with a healthy gap over Stevie.T, but makes a tiny mistake with his entrance into the star and has to brake. Into the fourth star and DrChill still is in the lead, but Stevie.T is closing the gap bit by bit. Up the hill towards the fifth star and there is no real shift in the gap, but Stevie.T catches up at the top of the hill. Into the left part of the cave system where stars 5 and 6 are, DrChill does a backflip off a ledge on to the ground below (idfk what to call it), while Stevie.T uses the brakes to drop down off the ledge. DrChills way is faster and will cruise into the 5th star about 0.20-0.30 seconds ahead. Down to the bottom of the cave and Stevie.T catches up but in a way that makes him to lose momentum and DrChill quickly recovers his lead. DrChill makes a slight mistake landing on the next ledge and Stevie.T catches up. The two tie to the 6th star, but Stevie.T exits the star cleanly and overtakes DrChill in the process, As they jump out of the caves Stevie.T is still ahead, but made a small time-costing error on the jump out from my POV. Into the last checkpoint and Stevie.T has a good lead of about 0.30-35 seconds and looks like he might take it, but oh no! Stevie.T makes an error jumping into the very small cave containing star seven allowing DrChill to catch up. DrChill and Stevie.T are neck and neck out of the tiny cave and speeding down the hill towards the final cave containing the final two stars. Stevie.T lands in the cave first, but DrChill executes his landing better and overtakes Stevie.T. DrChill reaches star 8 first but Stevie.T enters and exits faster and they are practically tying towards the last star, this will be close. Stevie.T hits a bump/rock going down the hill and unless DrChill does something really stupid, which would be weird considering he is a doctor and I’m pretty sure doctors are meant to be smart, but anyway DrChill has a good chance of victory and does take the W, with a competitive time of 50.30 seconds and beats Stevie.T by 0.07 seconds. A big upset, everyone thought Stevie would win, but the doctor has proved us all wrong. Brilliant performance from both racers, getting 5th and 6th respectively on the track.
See you next round and hope you enjoyed.
