I may have sounded mean in some posts but that was just joking around, and a person with a sane mind would understand that I was joking! It is sooooo obvious the difference between joking and being serious!

REALLY into Bastille and Imagine Dragons atm, especially ID's new album Smoke + Mirrors. Bastille are releasing a new album early next year and I am so hyped for it, also hyped to listen to Coldplay's new album A Head Full of Dreams. Have only been able to listen to Adventure of a Lifetime so far :(

i've been listening to nirvana and foo fighters alot now, the drummers look the same lol

sorry, i've been really getting into them - i love that one nirvana concert at top of the pops '91 where the producers wanted them to fake playing it so they all made the show as ridiculous as they could - kurt sung in a really deep voice, novoselic waved his bass around and drave grohl just idek, and at the mtv music awards 1991 where they weren't allowed to play rape me but they played the intro and then played lithium (i think) to give them a heart attack - biggest trolls ever lol

grohl's drumming is some really some intense and powerful drumming, and krist is a very underrated bassist no doubt

the new foo fighters ep is gold and its FREE! really great ep and im loving it so far

a month or two back octo showed me joy division, and holy crap they're a really great band, rip ian curtis though :( fortunately they rebranded as new order and they are an amazing band as well, ive had the song "true faith" stuck in my head for a while now. and btw i found that song because of my tastes in music, not because of some canadian clown who uploaded a video of himself killing some dude with an ice pick

another good musician is iggy pop, i found him when i was reading the wikipedia article on ian curtis and how the album "the idiot" was spinning on his turntable when he was found dead, so i gave it a listen and its some really chill music, i was surprised when i found out he wrote and sung "the passenger" because i thought it was a comepletely different artist who made it lol

another musician i like (octo also showed me this) is called jay reatard. he had this very underground indie style which was remarkably catchy and i really like it - unfortunately this dude died as well a couple years back :(

one band ive liked for a really long time now is metallica, unfortunately their bassist died in 1986 and their second bassist quit in 2001 (i believe) and their new bassist is great but he looks like roman reigns

i feel like people jump on st. anger too much, it wasn't that good but the music was still cool, it was lars' snare and the absolutely terrible production that made it sound bad

i might post more later but thats me with music atm

Thanks, I must agree that Smoke + Mirrors is epic. Particularly love the singles Gold, Smoke + Mirrors and Dreams
Coldplay have always been good, their music can make you laugh or cry I swear
If you like them I would seriously recommend that you listen to Bastille's only album 'All this Bad Blood' and a few of there EP's as well. Theyre REALLY good, my fav band

Hmm, I've been listening to a ton of prog rock, mostly rush and yes but I'm slowly branching out into different people. Most people hate Pandora, but an out of date relative of mine got me an entire years worth of Pandora One for some reason or another and there's some wicked stations on there. I think I've listened to the Rush radio with an influence of Yes, along with a couple liked songs of Pink Floyd and Boston kinda created the best shiz in the world.

I believe I already stated previously in here that I listen to a lot of OSTs and whatnot, especially for video games. They're super calming and they really help me concentrate when working on tracks (or, well, studying lol) and lots of that is highly recommended. I've been going through 8-bit stuff like Shovel Knight and Crono Trigger to more orchestrated things like Skyrim and Ori and the Blind Forest (ducking awesome game btw). There's even some more synthesized soundtracks that are great, like Hotline Miami and FTL. Lots and lots of stuff, and most of it's on youtube for free so that's a big plus. Danny Baranowsky is also a great person in this field, from Super Meat Boy to the original Binding of Isaac.

My mom also signed the entire family up for Apple music, which I must say I was kinda surprised on how much stuff they had on there. 15 bucks for 6 people each month is a bargain for like every single album I've ever come up with imo. This got me back into listening to more classic rock and soft stuff, like Simon and Garfunkel and the Clarence Clearwater Revival. I've also gotten the entirety of the Led Zeppelin discography along with most of Jimi Hendrix so chipping away at that is a lot of work.

So yeah, that kinda sums up what I've been listening to. People might think that OSTs are boring and stuff, but just listen to basically any indie game. The stuff is great. Thanks to Pancakes345 for inspiring me with his giant post to write one of my own ;)

    phil elverum is a god

more generally i've stopped fiending for music like i did 2-4 years ago, now i just listen to my existing library (1000+ albums, mostly pretty good stuff), new releases that i manage to hear about, and anything that people show me. lately ive been getting into rap more which is cool, it's fun as hell to follow tbh which is half the reason i do at all

Pancakes345 youre welcome for the recs, have more  check out the album wrong by nomeansno if you get a chance, i listened to it recently and it's a really cool (post-?)punk album, i'm not even that huge of a fan of the punkier side of post punk but the first song is so sick i had to listen to the whole thing

THEend if you like prog rock and soundtracks you should check out post-rock, it's an awesome genre that sort of combines the two, check out this or this or this or this or this if you ever have the time
edit: also strongly agree on the hotline miami soundtrack being awesome
