Free Rider HD Open Campaign Contest!

Hey Riders!

It's time for our very first campaign contest which is open to the entire Free Rider HD community! With your help, we will be creating two awesome campaigns for all players to enjoy!

Overview:
For this contest we are opening up both Campaign number two and three. As such, this will be considered an open contest. Simply put, this means we will be actively looking for tracks uploaded to Free Rider HD that match the campaign requirements, that we will be adding appropriate tracks as they are entered (not all at once on a due date), and that there is currently no limit to the number of tracks in a single campaign. Also, unlike the first campaign, there we be very few requirements. All we ask is that Campaign 2 tracks are beginner tracks while campaign 3 tracks are more intermediate.

Due to the overflow of great tracks that were submitted to our first contest, we have also decided to move a few of the more challenging ones into the current campaign two and will be playable alongside the campaign one tracks next week. However, as more tracks are submitted to this contest, you can expect to see the track order shuffled to make room.

All track submissions will be judged equally, Classic authors will not be given priority. All tracks will be tested and voted upon by a team of elite space ninjas the Free Rider HD team. Tracks which fit the easy - intermediate criteria will be rated higher than a harder track with insane details. Remember, this could be one of the first tracks a new player experiences!

Tips to succeed.

• Communicate with other authors to help brainstorm ideas
• Try to make your track look great on both fullscreen monitors and mobile phones
• Post updates frequently to get feedback from the community
• Try to create a track which new players will enjoy. Remember, this could be one of the first tracks they play!
• Bonus points for teaching the player a new skill or trick
  
• Bonus Points for mentioning Free Rider HD in the track
• Keep the track under 30 seconds to complete
• Think about how it will fit in campaign 2 or 3

Is there a due date?

 

Nope. Closest thing to a theme is "not too hard".

 

Currently no. We will wait until we know who is participating and from there we will know about how long it will take to fill up.

For these campaigns, no. We want new users to see all kinds of neat styles as soon as they jump in the game. Later campaigns which are built for the community rather than for new players will be the ones with themes.

 

Will this be detail oriented to wow players? Or can minimal detail be accepted?

Detail can be used in whatever way you wish. If you feel like making a track with low detail and it happens to match the theme you are running with, that's just as great!

Oh Max, just make a track already.

 

Again, this is up to each individual author. The final few tracks of campaign one last around 20 second so starting from there would be a good idea

 

I'm correct in assuming that it doesn't have to have any specific name, right? Just name it whatever we want?

 

Yup, thanks for reminding me I'll add this to the post. The only things we want to avoid are track names referencing the contest. Ex: "contest entry", "campaign contest"

EDIT: This will be an entry for Campaign 3, I guess. I've heard it can be a little difficult.

 

Can I enter my The Flow track Velksy ? It would be for one of the latter levels in the third campaigne

EDIT: If that is alowed Ill do the same thing as Sono, change the FREEZ to FRHD if you think it is nessesary.

 

I COULD use an old track, but I'm not going to for the sake of principle.
Rebranding an old track just doesn't show commitment to the contest or FRHD, so instead of just digging through my old stuff and pulling out something just to get it a lot of views, I'm actually going to put effort into something specifically for this contest as I think everyone should.
I can already see this thread turning into one where people just submit their newest track as a form of advertising.

 

Sono that track is a great example of what we are looking for As we get tracks submitted we will be measuring track completion rates to help place them into the proper campaign and order.
