I never expected something like this to happen to the frhd community so soon. Although I haven't interacted with him personally I've always admired his tracks. I'm not sure if this will happen but I hope that this thread can be a place for his loved ones to look back at to see how much of an impact he had to so many of us.

    Rest in peace man.

I’m usually one of many words but I don’t really know what to say. All I will say is I never spoke to CityShep personally but some of the things I have seen Shep accomplish in FRHD and other games is quite inspiring, making them a legend of our community. Keep riding free cypress, wherever you may rest.

he was never afraid to be himself, and that really was a huge influence/inspiration on younger me. the way he carried himself and treated free rider really helped me come out of my shell both here and in real life. i have fond memories of talking w him late at night on tincychat that feel like they happened yesterday. he inspired me to get better; i copied his rock detailing line for line to try to understand how he did it, but i never got anywhere close to the vibrancy his art has. he truly made my life better and i am grateful for the time i got to spend with him while he was here. shep was one of a kind and to say he influenced free rider in addition to countless authors who have played it is an understatement. free rider and the world as a whole are emptier now without him

    RIP

still unbelievable he's gone. could never predict his life would be cut short like that. i was too young when he was around to really get to know him but he was a huge inspiration to me and had a huge influence on my art (straight up trying to copy him at times) and even on the way I interacted with ppl online; I thought he was the coolest individual when I was young. its incredible how many lives he impacted beyond frhd, seeing hundreds of people on twitter mourn his loss, even people that didn't really know him. because his twitter is private i think i want to upload all of the art he posted there to a google drive so everyone gets to see it.

    may he rest in peace.

To confirm from family. If anyone wants to chip in or say a piece.

Very upset for the family. I know we aren't the most serious bunch but we are a tight knit group, this has been quite the shock to the system. A lot of us have grown up with this lads in our lives on a daily basis, some of us have known him a decade of our lives and he will be missed.

Shep was the reason I wanted to learn how to draw. It seemed like he could effortlessly represent whatever he wanted with just a few lines.
His style was so unique it inspired an entire generation of artists to try to imitate it. I hope he knew what kind of affect he had on every community he was in, May he rest in peace.

Terrible news. Man, while I didn’t know him personally, I had just always thought of him as one of the coolest people on here, and I know many others feel the same. Kind of like what Zycerak said, when I was younger and new to the forums I just thought he was so cool, and reasonably so. I remember getting excited if he were to just like a post of mine. I have fond memories of him joking around in the featured ghost thread and just whatever banter went on between him, backtwice, and noob, which I always found funny and entertaining. He was obviously one of the very best trackmakers, with a very captivating art style that virtually everyone wanted to copy at one point. Even someone like me who isn’t a trackmaker wanted to make tracks like him and while it didn’t take shape for me, it did for others who’ve been inspired by him to go on and be the best artists they can be. When he made a return at one point and started accepting friend requests from some more people at the time, I remember some younger players being excited to become his friend on the game, and I totally understand why. He’s one of my favorite authors who’s made some of my favorite tracks that have fantastic detail and rides that I’ve just so enjoyed to play. He’s clearly made a great impact on the community here and just made it that much better, and to echo what silentfinger said, I hope he realized that.

uploaded some of his work. anyone with the link should be able to access the folder. scrolled down his media tab as far as I could go but im probably missing some. if anyone has access to his twitter and wants to add some I might have missed then LMK and I can make you an editor. theres probably some overlap with his IG (@dotmaybes / @cypress.etc) but I tried to keep it to the things I only saw on twitter

Not excited to see this after logging in, very sad. I remember having some good convos with shep and being super impressed with his trackmaking as a newcomer to the game, he brought a new light in a new era that was needed. We talked about collabing on BHR, I wish that happened, heck I wish I could even go back and read the messages we shot back and forth. Thoughts out to his family and friends, he was far too young to be gone from this earth. I'm glad he was able to make an impact not only in our communities but others as well.

And if I could say anything to Cypress it would simply be - Rest easy my friend. I still don't get the furry thing, but I wish I had gotten to know you a little better.
