"Officially Recommended" Section

Can you PLEASE stop spamming? I'm probably going to start reporting all of it because it's starting to annoy me. This thread is for validating or showing the weak points of an argument, not putting spam that makes no sense and just is a general put off for everyone. So. Stop.

I'd love there to be playlists as well, kinda like youtube/campaign tracks

 

That actually be sick, if there was a team to arrange them

 

or if you could arrange your own. You could say: 'I wanna play graggen!' and then put all his tracks into a playlist and not keep having to go back and stuff

 

Maybe this doesn't need a team. Picture this:
All official authors get a button next to the subscribe button saying "Recommend". Click it if you think it's a quality track. If the track gets a certain amount of recommends (5, 10 idk) it gets into the Recommended section. Need for more than one recommend would probably keep lame tracks out.

 

I like the idea, I picture it as a compilation of all of the better trending tracks.
But who agrees that this 'who gets to choose' issue wouldn't exist if Official Authors were more carefully chosen in the first place?

 

Only problem with this is A. Nooby Authors picking nooby tracks and B. People picking their own tracks. You could have it disabled for your own tracks, like trying to subscribe to yourself, but even so I dont think it would work.

 

Yeah, again with the unreliable Official Author bit. But idk, requiring the say of several officials would probably fix that problem.

 

Hey Eric or Char what's the status on this idea? Again I think iTzChuckNorris had a great idea on how it would be chosen but how about make it 15-25 official authors (5 would be the Featured Track Moderators) and have it where any of the Recommended section Moderators could add a track to the playlist.

 

Yeah, we are definitely thinking about having this feature. Im not sure on who will pick the tracks.
One thing we are going to push out today or Monday is a "suggested author" on the home page. This will pull randomly (on every page refresh) from the author leaderboard.

Ex:
Featured Track Moderators, pssst, WyattStonHouse, Codrey, THEend, Dblu, etc

Lol I was just talking about the authors who I think would do a good job, I'd assume you could turn it down

 

Honestly though, if this was implemented we should just have a button to say 'officially recommended' and a button to counter it. Giving it to only a certain amount of people is too finicky, as those people just might not vote at all (me included). Instead of having it be 5 or 10 votes to make it recommended, make it 15 or 20 so the tracks a bit more selective, or lower if you want it to just be filled with average joe stuff. I love the idea for this, but it needs to be implemented right or not at all.

 

That sounds cool. I think you should replace trending with it.

 

Interesting idea, not sure how i feel about it. It would basically give whoever decides what tracks are worthy the power to decide which tracks become popular. It would also eliminate noob autos gaining attention, but I really think the entire community deserves the right to choose what is trending, even if most everyone on the forums disagrees.
Who knows though, maybe it would give people the incentive to make better tracks.
Maybe just put it as the first thing listed on the home page? and have trending underneath

 

Solution:
Add a favorite button (for everyone)
Official author favorites count as vote.
I've been wanting a favorite button for a while. There's no way to save the link a track that you really like (other than copy paste duh).

 

We really do need a favorite button. That was something both CR and FRHD have lacked.
I don't think that an official author favorite should count as a vote. The reason is that I would favorite very few tracks. There are many tracks that I think should be on the list, but I would definitely not consider one of my favorites.

I mainly said the trending thing as a joke, because I hate trending so much.

 

I thought about this. It could either A) take less favorites to get a track into the section or B) official authors would have to be conscious about this, and for those who are more picky, just copy and paste the links into a folder or choose not to participate. I really think this is the best option though.
