I'd try to differentiate plants, grass, and rock shading a little. It all combines in some places and just looks messing and confusing.

Yea thats been my problem lately I wish there were different shades of grey or something

 

Have you tried experimenting with different thicknesses of lines or white space?

 

Well I have this snowy track I might post sometime eventually, haven't worked on it in a while

My remix contest entry for R2 which I will probably never finish/post. Looks cool though

In all I'm kind of in an artistic slump in terms of freerider, I hope to get working again soon though
