I know, it would give off such a motivating vibe throughout the forum. With the right contest layout and time given, we could have masterpieces right before our eyes bro.
I don't think making a comparison btw old retired users and active users are unfair tho, as long as the work of the retired one is still in the best-league
Firstly, I would like to say that I am not taking anything that has been said personally, and I am not trying to offend anyone. Stig, I don't think the 'life' of these free rider web sites has to do with the quality of the elite users. I actually think that the 'elite' status will affect the site's popularity very little if not none at all. Back when it was (for the most part) just a competition between T**ckMill and Fr2db, the majority of the active users had accounts that they used on both web sites. The reason that T**ckmill died was because goose never followed through with what he said he was going to do (checkpoints, new skin etc) while Maxime usually did. However, with the release of C*nvas R*der, T**ckmill no longer had anything to offer for 98% of it's users other than the members of the forum that they had come to love. And I think you and I both know why we ended up here on FRHD (shh they're watching). Anyways the point I'm trying to make is that elite status matters most to people who have it or are close to earning it. For the vast majority of people who play FRHD, it's nothing more than a little emblem next to your name. I would even argue that the current official status would do a better job of keeping players active than the elite one. Remember how everyone stopped making tracks once they were promoted? That's not to say that it doesn't matter. The elite status will separate the VERY best authors from the rest of the community. It is something sacred for those who have it and creates something to really strive for those who think they can earn it. It shows that the people who run this game take it seriously and so do the players. I agree that the official authors are flooded with noobs. This is why I agree that we need the elite status to be nearly unobtainable. However, I still don't think that it has anything to do with the life of the web site. TLDR: elite status only really matters to a few forum members If anyone is going to respond, for the love of god please leave names out.
hahaha, i can't believe you think my honest belief is that trackmill died because they had a lot of shitty vips
haha, and that didn't occur as an obvious joke to you? how in heaven's earth would an insignificant amount of promotions cause several thousand players to abandon the trackmill database and forums?
So great, it looks like everyones in agreement then Eric. Just do everyone's contradicting ideas, thaynks edit: give brats a choice and theyll rape you for everything. You guys need to act more tyrannical and just say there, you're called ____ authors and shut the f*uck up
I agree with you guys, elite author is really the best name out of the ones we've come up with (even though groovy author comes close) I'm not really sure if we should have big contest again. It would make much more sense to me to hand out the status based on the tracks a person has made. If someone releases an amazing track that's pretty much the best track out there, but it wasn't within a contest, he still won't get the status. That wouldn't make sense to me. I agree that we shouldn't be handing out this status to everyone but I think it should be handed out and earned by making amazing tracks constantly and by just showing that you deserve it. I think that you should be reasonably active on this site to get it, but it shouldn't really matter if your tracks are old or not. If you made amazing tracks that still set the standard today, and visit here then you should be able to get it. The only reason I'd like to see contests is because it leads to great tracks, but honestly if you were in a contest and maple was working on his entry 4 hours a day then why even bother entering as well. Forcing Maple to do a contest would also be useless. We know what the guy can do. Maybe wait untill he releases one more big track or something but making him enter a contest?
I like max' idea it wouldn't force people to do great since the true nature of most wouldn't bother unless there was a huge reward at the end. Instead those who go above and beyond without any incentive in earning a title that still produces amazing stuff, those people would deserve it as they are the ones making great stuff simply because they want to make great stuff. Key mindset elite author s should have. Either way though I'm cool with both. If we do end up with a contest that's OK. My body is ready AND I'LL FIGHT YOU ALL ON THE MOTHERFOKIN STREETS! ARGHHHH LETS GO!
Let's compromise at contests AND merit e; However, I'm not sure about giving it away right off the bat. Maybe from here it could be a fresh start to earn the title.
why did you censor http://trackmill.com/forums (btw everyone join trackmill its a perfectly legal site)
just saying. I know not everyone likes purple, but it is a girl and a guy colour so (I'm assuming your changing the colour of the star against your name?) just a suggestion for the colour of the star. Btw, I think Elite author all the way!
Maybe something that kind of suggests that not only are you posting cool tracks, but you are also focused on developing tracks for the campaigns. Something like "campaign author", "FreeRider Pro", or "staff author". Something that says supported and recommended by the creators of the game/website.
I like the idea of campaign author. If this does go ahead, Maple is sooooooooooo getting this! E: What about:" Maple author"?
