The problem with trying to ban input copying is that it's a gray area. How many frames need to be copied for it to be considered rule-breaking? For instance, there are tracks where you just hold up at the beginning, is that considered input copying? IMO, it's difficult enough even for the best spacebarrers that it's not really an issue. The issue would be if they could do it consistently, like using the 2 key method as pawflix and Cerulean described. So it seems to me that the simplest solution is to ban that method, i.e. you must use a single key to spacebar. This would be subject to the verification problem as well, but it seems like the simplest thing if honest players agree to that.
The whole ghost featuring process is subjective, therefore a grey area. So my proposal is that if a ghost that copies someone else’s inputs isn’t as impressive as the original, we might decide that it doesn’t deserve the feat over the original. The question is that is everone ok with having input copying as a merit to take into consideration when making a decision. Because if we were to decide on it being the case, then the 1-2 people doing it would probably stop completely, making it no different from just straight up banning it from the game.
i think we should put input copy/LIS ghosts in the other category, normal categories, or none on a case by case basis. normal if the inputs arent too egregious, other if the inputs are pretty egregious but the ghost is still impressive, and none if the inputs are egregious and it makes the ghost not very impressive
