looking for the opportunity to put your team ahead of the comp early? welcome to the ultimate test of skill - the first mixed, collaborative, team GHOSTING AND TRACKMAKING competition!
your team is to craft the best 5-man squad possible to compete in this competition, where EVERY MEMBER IN YOUR CHOSEN SQUAD MUST CONTRIBUTE TO BOTH TRACKMAKING AND GHOSTING! the four teams (balloon, blob, heli and truck) can enter as many 5-man squads as they like, but note: squads are to be finalised by Thursday September 5 12PM ACST, with competition starting on Thursday September 12, when the code for the trackmaking section is released.
format:
first, every squad will have four weeks to craft a track to enter into the competition. every member must contribute a meaningful amount to the creation process of the track. you will be judged on ride, detail, creativity (including how you use ness editor copy + paste function), fairness and implementation. you can go as hard or as easy as you like in this stage, as trackmaking only makes up half of the points you can earn total in this comp...
finally, every squad will have two to four weeks (subject to amount of tracks entered) to ghost each track. squads will be allocated points based on the total average time to complete all tracks. so if team balloon's squad achieves an average time of 4 mins on track 1, 3 mins on track 2, 5 mins on track 3 and 2 mins on track 4, team balloon's squad finishes with a final score of 14:00:00 - which would get first place, if the average times of all the other squads is slower.
in this comp, you are only as good as your weakest trackmaker and weakest ghoster. but, in saying this, there are plenty of tactical opportunities to shore up weaknesses and exploit weaknesses of other teams. in the trackmaking section, you should pay special attention to the ride, crafting it in such a fashion to give your team the best chance possible of having the fastest average time. in the ghosting section, more experienced players should share tips and tricks of the trade, discuss routing and possible cuts. perhaps you delay uploading your track until the last possible moment, giving your team extra time to practice over the rest of the comp. there is all this and much more to consider!
prizes:
1] you are all competing for the inaugural mR..A Cup, named in honour of the first player to achieve both VIP and Ghosting Legend status. all members of the winning squad will have the mR..A Cup awarded on their forums profile as a medal, and the winning team will have the Cup awarded to their team's trophy case (which is coming soon!).
2] points towards the Autumn 2024 FRHD Teams ladder.
FIRST PLACE - +100 points
SECOND PLACE - +50 points
THIRD PLACE - +20 points
FOURTH PLACE - +10 points
(as well as points for feat tracks, ghosts etc)
rules (trackmaking):
- cheating will result in instant, irreversible disqualification
- scoring will be judged by the parameters outlined below, and in the *scoring* section
- tracks must use the code given at the start of the competition. old tracks cannot be used, but old assets can be used. failure to comply with this rule will result in severe penalties or potential disqualification.
- there are two brand new judging categories - fairness and implementation. read these below - these are vital for your team to understand, if you want the best chance at winning
- FAIRNESS: due to this being a mixed comp, with - inevitably - a wide range of ghosting abilities, i will be judging tracks on how fair they are to the rest of the competition. i am fine with teams making technical, strategically challenging tracks to boost their chance of having faster average times (and indeed, encourage this). however, i do not want to see four variations of ROTATE III to fudge over half the comp. get creative - maybe your teammates are quite good at offroads, or heli tracks, or blob puzzles, etc etc. if your track is fair and balanced, you get full marks - if not, points will be docked, simple as that
- IMPLEMENTATION: i want to see interesting IMPLEMENTATION of your team's respective vehicles, AND of all the members on your squad! points will be given for use of your team's mascot (ie balloon, blob), and for evident contributions from each player. obviously, there is less you can do with balloon, for example, than other vehicles, so this will be kept in mind during the judging process. and further, on a team with VIPs and EAs, i expect them to do more than the GLs on the team. all in all, neither vehicle or team implementation has to be a huge chunk of the track; i just want to see them included in interesting or meaningful ways!
rules (ghosting):
- cheating will result in instant, irreversible disqualification. if players enter with a history of cheating, they will be required to stream/record every ghost attempt, and comply with requests for transparency.
- each player is to report their times at or before the time cut-off. failure to do so, or misrepresenting individual times, will result in a penalty being applied. (squad or team captains can do this on your behalf)
- there is to be no use of alts to ghost, UNLESS YOU EXPLICITLY MENTION YOUR ACCOUNT IN THIS THREAD. failure to do so will result in a penalty being applied.
penalties for failing to follow the rules (if you are not merely disqualified):
TRACKMAKING PENALTY:
- instant 0 for the fairness section and potentially disregarding your contribution to the track, thereby putting your squad down 10 points at the minimum from the outset.
GHOSTING PENALTY:
- your time across all of the tracks is substituted with the "average time" section calculated in the description of each track, essentially making your times as bad as the worst casual player.
scoring for the mR..A Cup:
Trackmaking:
RIDE - x/15 points
DETAIL - x/10 points
CREATIVITY - x/15 points
FAIRNESS - x/10 points
IMPLEMENTATION - x/10 points
TOTAL: x/60 points
Ghosting:
FASTEST TOTAL AVERAGE TIME OF YOUR SQUAD (+ ALL OF YOUR TEAM'S SQUADS IF APPLICABLE)
FIRST: 60 points
SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH etc: TBD points (dependent on number of squads that enter)
For a total potential score of x/120.
REMEMBER, feat tracks and ghosts in this competition will also earn you points in the wider FRHD Teams Autumn Season! So, this is a huge opportunity for teams to really create a lead here. Captains, get to drafting a squad, announce your squads below, and we'll see you all next week to kick off the trackmaking part of the competition!
