So that's it. We have our Losers Champion, haha! The legendary epic remarkble best player among the worst, haha. But in all seriousness, it's always tough to win the Losers Championship, since it always gets stacked with great players in the final rounds. But one man did it this year, and he was no other than Setsu, that has been really impressive in this year Free Rider World Cup.

As I mentioned in the previous commentary posts, both Uniior and Setsu are already somewhat experienced ghosters, that have been around for a few years, but that are getting more recognition lately. Going into this contest I feel like Uniior was in a better form, but Setsu really worked for his win here. And it's funny that those 2 ended up deciding the Losers Championship, since they were in the same group in the Group Stages and had a great match.

So let's talk about the track first and then a bit about both players, since they did a great performance in the contest.

    THE TRACK:

What a track by RadiumRC! Congrats on the feature! Really deserved. RadiumRC kept the tradition and for the 3rd year in a row we had a FRWC track that gets featured. Really cool to see that! The track was pretty fun, not hard to complete, but challenging to optimize with the best timesaves, so it was a pretty good fit for this round. Thanks, man!

    THE RESULTS:

    Uniior 54.23 vs 50.73 Setsu

First off, let's talk about Uniior, that is sadly leaving the contest. He joined the contest in a good year in the ghosting community for him, having a massive improvement in the top 100 list, getting the Pro Ghoster medal and some ghosting awards. So he was expected to do well, and he didn't disappoint. After finishing in 6th place in the Qualifiers, he qualified for the Group Stage in pot 1, which made him the "head" of the group and a favorite to qualify. The players that ended up in his group (that was Group 2) were Setsu (pot 2), RandomTurtleBoi (pot 3) and pawflix (pot 4). In the Group Stage, Uniior did amazing, finishing with the 4th combined time overall among all of the players, only behind RadiumRC, Cerasium and Xenom. However, even though he finished with the best combined time from his group in the group stage, he ended losing the match against Setsu (by 0.8 second), which pushed him to the 2nd place, despite his wins against RandomTurtleBoi and pawflix.

Coming from 2nd place in Group 2, he faced in the Round of 16 the 1st Place from Group 1, Chaos-Fallen, and managed to win. However, in the Quarterfinals things started to get complicated and he was surprised by Reborn that had a great ghost and sent Uniior to the Losers Championship. In the Losers Championship, Uniior faced and defeated CHARREDLIZARD21/TypicalEshay in the Losers Championship Quarterfinals and then defeated both MatthewMatthew58 and Coated_Badger in the Losers Championship Semifinals.

In the Losers Championship Finals it was time for revenge, time for the payback for that upset in the Group Stage. But it didn't come this time. Setsu, once again, was a tough opponent for Uniior, that couldn't get past him. Uniior did a good ghost in the track, but he didn't get some of the timesaves right and he had some costful mistakes, so it wasn't enough to beat Setsu's great time.

The community had faith in Uniior in the beginning. He was winning the poll by 9 votes to 2, had the support from FRHD Legend pssst and seemed like the slightly favorite. But it wasn't like that, and after Setsu completed an insane ghost that was under 51 seconds, it became clear that it would be hard to beat him. During the round, with Setsu's improvements, the poll was slowly shifting until it ended with 15 votes for Setsu and 11 for Uniior.

Props to Uniior, though. Really solid performance! As I said in a previous post, Uniior first joined the FRWC in the 4th edition in 2020, where he finished in 14th place. In 2021, in the 5th edition, he finished in 12th place. Now, this year, he finished in 6th place, so that's a major improvement. Congrats, man! I'm sad that you are leaving the contest, but I hope you join in future editions.

Now let's talk about Setsu. As I mentioned, he's a ghoster that has been around for a while and he's one that was included in all 4 FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters list that we have made over the years, so he's well-known. But this year he's on a different level. Facing many great ghosters and competing in equal conditions, always being a threat to every ghoster. He started off well, with a 9th place in the qualifiers, that made him be the best placed player from pot 2 in the Group Stage. He ended up in the same group as Uniior and HE WON ALL 3 MATCHES, even getting a nice comeback against Uniior in the 2nd group stage match. He finished with the 5th best combined time from the group stage, so it makes sense that he's in the top 5 now, haha. His Group Stage performance put in question how far he could go in the contest, since he was looking really strong. And he had some tough tests.

In the Round of 16, he faced 1st place in the Qualifiers ShamatoZ, and was able to come out with the win. In the Quarterfinals, he faced his only defeat in the contest so far, losing to the finalist Cerasium, despite putting up a fight. He needed to prove himself in the Losers Championship. And he did.

In the Losers Championship Quarterfinals, he got a rematch with ShamatoZ and managed to come out victorious once again. Wow! In the Losers Championship Semifinals, he had a tough fight against me and Sidewalk, but he ended up doing enough for the win once again. And then, with a great deathless ghost, using the timesaves, he beat Uniior once again in the Losers Championship Finals. What a legend. He beat a player that is a top 10 in the top 100 ghosters list and that has the Legendary Ghoster medal (Sidewalk), beat 2 Pro Ghoster medal winners (ShamatoZ & Uniior), two times each, and also a Recognized Ghoster medal winner (me), that also has a few ghosting contest medals. All of these players mentioned are way ahead of him in the FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters List, so maybe that's something to think about whenever we are editing his placement next year. Bravo, man! Really impressive! All of that in his FRWC debut, lol.

Yeah, Setsu will have a tough time in the 3rd Place match, but you better believe that he's coming for that medal. Let's see if he can do it.

EXPECTATIONS FOR THE 3RD PLACE MATCH:

    Reborn vs Xenom vs Setsu

Really dope matchup. We have different generations of FRHD ghosters here, so it should be interesting. Reborn has been around for years and has a big presence in the ghosting community for a while, Setsu is around for a while, but he's starting to get in the spotlight just now and Xenom is a ghoster from the "new generation", that is just starting to get in the spotlight as well, but that is doing it in a very affirmative way lately. Let's check how they are doing so far.

    Reborn FRWC6 history:

    Qualifiers: 25.43 - 8th Place (that got him in Pot 1 - Group 3)
Group Stage Match 1: 43.17 - 17th Place (win against Overthrown)
Group Stage Match 2: 25.47 - 6th Place (win against Sidewalk)
Group Stage Match 3: 23.97 - 20th Place (win against RubeGoldberger)
    Group Stage Combined Time/Points: 92.81 - 11th Place/9 Points - 1st Place in Group 3
Round Of 16: 33.53 - 10th Place (win against adversitas)
Quarterfinals: 1:53.73 - 4th Place (win against Uniior)
Semifinals: 25.77 - 4th Place (loss against RadiumRC)

    Xenom FRWC6 history:

    Qualifiers: 24.97 - 4th Place (that got him in Pot 1 - Group 8)
Group Stage Match 1: 37.03 - 3rd Place (win against Cynosure)
Group Stage Match 2: 24.77 - 3rd Place (win against braw)
Group Stage Match 3: 22.27 - 1st Place (win against TPlacella)
    Group Stage Combined Time/Points: 84.07 - 3rd Place/9 Points - 1st Place in Group 8
    Round Of 16: 30.43 - 3rd Place (win against Totoca12)
Quarterfinals: 1:50.63 - 3rd Place (win against Cork)
Semifinals: 25.27 - 3rd Place (loss against Cerasium)

    Setsu FRWC6 history:

    Qualifiers: 26.07 - 9th Place (that got him in Pot 2 - Group 2)
Group Stage Match 1: 40.23 - 9th Place (win against pawflix)
Group Stage Match 2: 25.03 - 4th Place (win against Uniior)
Group Stage Match 3: 22.70 - 3rd Place (win against RandomTurtleBoi)
    Group Stage Combined Time/Points: 87.96 - 5th Place/9 Points - 1st Place in Group 2
Round Of 16: 31.40 - 7th Place (win against ShamatoZ)
Quarterfinals: 1:56.13 - 5th Place (loss against Cerasium)
Semifinals (Losers Championship Quarterfinals): 25.77 - 4th Place (win against ShamatoZ)
    Losers Championship Semifinals: 56.23 - 1st Place (win against Sidewalk & Totoca12)
Losers Championship Finals: 50.73 - 1st Place (win against Uniior)

So, let's thrown some quick final insights about the 3 players:

Reborn - Arriving when it matters, ability to stay consistent and make comebacks. The voice of experience here. Let's not understimate the Best Ghost Of 2021!!!

Xenom - Looking at the stats, he might be the favorite here. Impeccable form, insane month, that also came with many featured ghosts for him, so he's a menace, the young legend in the making that earned the respect of the community. Let's see if he can secure his first ghosting contest medal in his FRWC debut.

Setsu - 2 wins over ShamatoZ, 2 wins over Uniior, 1 win over me and Sidewalk. This guy is on fire! He has faced many tough opponents this year, so he isn't strange to that kind of challenge here. Also, being the Losers Champion always works as an extra motivation, since the player worked hard grinding on some extra rounds, is familiar to the 1v1v1 system and doesn't want to leave with nothing being this close to a medal, haha. Also, will he keep the tradition? We used this format for the FRWC contest 3 times. In the 4th, 5th and 6th editions. In the 4th edition, Madara was the Losers Champion and won the 3rd Place match. In the 5th edition, the legend BoostButt (Cerasium) won the Losers Championship and the 3rd Place match as well. Can Setsu do the same once again? Let's wait and see.

    LET'S GO GUYS!
