    LOSERS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS MATCHUP:

    Uniior vs Setsu

Track: https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/924462-frwc6-lc-finals by RadiumRC, a great track that will be an interesting fit for this final battle in the Losers Championship.

It's time to decide the Losers Champion! The one that will get a spot in the 3rd place match. In the final match here, we have a rematch, so I'm curious to see how it'll go. Full commentary post and updates in the poll soon.

The Losers Champions Semifinals has ended. We have our finalists for the Losers Championship Finals. Even though the round involved a short amount of players, there's still some stuff to talk about. So let's talk about it

    THE TRACK:

Ok, let's talk about the biggest controversy of the round by far, the track. First of all I want to thank Cerasium for making the track. I mean, I know it can't be an excuse everytime, but as I mentioned, making this contest was kind of a last minute idea, so things weren't really planned beforehand. With that said, I have to thank everyone who fulfilled their roles here. I know FRHD isn't a priority for most people (and it shouldn't be), so there were players that signed up as trackmakers but ended up dropping out and not making the tracks, players that would help in other aspects, like hosting and seeding, but couldn't. There were players that ended up delaying the post of the tracks or not fully finishing some aspects of the track, which made me have to make changes in the calendar, so yeah, I know that even when we plan things beforehand, we can still face some troubles, so not having that initial plan makes it way harder to change things as we go. I also was a bit busy in the last few weeks with college stuff, work stuff and a trip (besides other normal IRL stuff), so I get it. So that's why I want to give a shoutout to Cerasium. He said he could make a track for the contest, he received a deadline and he followed everything correctly and delivered on what was promised. Thanks, man.

With that said, as a host of 6 or 7 ghosting contests in this game in the last 3 years, and as someone that joined at least 17 ghosting contests on forums, I know that this track was too hard for a ghosting contest. The beginning already some rage quitting moments and there were also some tough parts later in the track. Also, it wasn't non-spacebarrer friendly at all. I know that this isn't something that is always the number 1 priority, but man, we do deserve to respect that in some level. I mean, this contest was created initially by DblU, that is a non-spacebarrer. Some of the old contests, like the ones from speedy_XD that kind of started all of this ghosting contest stuff on FRHD were created by non-spacebarrers, so even though the ghosting community on forums does have many spacebarrers, we can't make contest tracks that most non-spacebarrers can't even complete. So for that I'm sorry. I saw the track before and did warn Cerasium that it was a bit too hard and it actually ended up easier than the initial plans, but I guess that definitely not enough.

I don't think the track is bad, though. I think it was put together well and it has some cool challenging aspects. Just not the most suitable for a popular contest. There's also a cool light detail, so the track is a good one overall.

    THE RESULTS:

    Uniior (1:30.50) vs MatthewMatthew58 (---) vs Coated_Badger (3:59.20)

In the first match of the Losers Championship Semifinals, we had Uniior vs MatthewMatthew58 vs Coated_Badger. Based on the poll, the community had one clear favorite, Uniior. He received 14 votes in the poll, while MatthewMatthew58 only received 1 and Coated_Badger got 4. In the end, Uniior got the W and will advance to the Losers Championship Finals. Let's talk about each one of those players for a bit.

Uniior - The guy is having an amazing performance in the contest so far and didn't have problems to secure the 1st place on this round. He had a longer time but made a few improvements over the course of the round, so he secured the win. This is actually the 3rd time Uniior is the FRWC. He first joined the 4th edition in 2020 and finished in 14th place. In 2021, in the 5th edition, he finished in 12th place. Now, this year, with this win, the worse he can finish is 6th place, so that's a good improvement for sure. This year he placed 6th place in the Qualifiers and already beat pawflix, RandomTurtleBoi, Chaos-Fallen, TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 and now MatthewMatthew58 and Coated_Badger. Yeah, he lost to Setsu and Reborn, but he's having an amazing consistency with his times, so he'll come strong for the Losers Championship crown, after getting 4th place in the round among the active contestants on the round. Good luck, man!

MatthewMatthew58 - What a performance! For a guy that received little to no votes to advance in the Qualifiers you got pretty far, haha. What a FRWC debut! You got the 22nd place in the Qualifiers, which was already surprising, but you kept going and showed some good ghosts that made you get this far in the contest. Yeah, you lost all 3 matches against Cerasium, adversitas and WrzodX in the Group Stage, but you had great times in there, so you proved your value in the Losers Championship, beating RubeGoldberger, adversitas (nice payback) and Stevie.T, only now losing to Uniior. Even if in some instances the other player didn't ghost, you proved that consistency and activity are the key for this contest. Bravo! Yeah, it's sad that you weren't able to ghost the last track, but you'll finish this contest in 10th place, which is crazy. Congrats, man! I hope to see you again in a future contest. You are unfortunately leaving the contest, but it was a good performance. I hope you liked it. You made it count!

Coated_Badger - The Undying Man meets his demise. Yeah, I know you have been (rightfully) critical of the previous round, but as always, you still pulled off a ghost, finishing with the 5th best time among the active contestants in the round. During the contest, you got a great 12th place in the Qualifiers, and then beat Tubiek, we_are_number_one and lightningod, losing to RadiumRC, Cork, R1ley070 (but still qualifying, though) and now Uniior. Just like Uniior, this is your 3rd time in the contest. In the 4th edition you finished in 13th place, in the 5th edition in 22nd place and now, in the 6th edition, you finish it in 9th place. Major improvement, man. Good stuff! I hope that if I get to make another contest like this I can get more time to work on the tracks, so we wouldn't have as many problems as we had with some tracks this year. You showed some great skills this year, so I hope you enjoyed at least in some level and I hope to see you in future editions.

    Setsu (56.23) vs Sidewalk (1:07.50) vs Totoca12 (1:18.60)

In the second match we have a better level on the ghosts. Any of the players of this match would have advanced in the other match. As for what the community thought it was going to happen, we were wrong. The poll registered 10 votes for Sidewalk, 9 votes for Setsu and 1 vote for Totoca12 (lol, thanks Reborn). Setsu came up with a strong ghost and got the W. Let's talk a bit about each player:

First off, let's talk about Setsu. The guy is on fire lately and got the win. He lead the whole time so he wasn't really threatened. Only one among the active contestants with a sub 1 minute ghost. He got an almost deathless ghost, that was the 1st place in the round among the active contestants. Really good stuff. Although Setsu isn't exactly a new ghoster, this is his FRWC debut, so since he already secured a top 6 placement, it's safe to say that this is a solid debut, haha. He'll come for the Losers Championship crown for sure, let's see if he's going to get it. He got 9th place in the Qualifiers and then beat RandomTurtleBoi, Uniior, pawflix, ShamatoZ (twice) and now Sidewalk and Totoca12. His only loss was against Cerasium. Wow! 4 of the players he beat in this contest are players that are above him in the FRHD Top 100 All-Time Ghosters List. He's sending a message for sure. It's time to rise up and climb up the ranks! And there's no other better place to send a message like this than a big ghosting contest. Good luck!

The second player in the match is the legend Sidewalk. Even though he's around for years, he took a long break during most of the big ghosting contests, so I think this was actually his FRWC debut as well. He got the 2nd best time among the active contestants, but it wasn't enough to beat Setsu's great ghost. After getting 10th place in the Qualifiers, Sidewalk during the contest beat RubeGoldberger, Overthrown, WrzodX and Cork. He ended up losing to Reborn and Cerasium, and now to Uniior. Still a pretty solid performance. He'll finish in 7th place on this edition of the FRWC. Not bad. He got 12th place in the ORG last year and the 5th place in the End Of Season Tournament, so after all of those years away after being the number 1 player in the game once, he's starting to get some really good results in ghosting contests, which is really cool. I hope you liked the contest, man. Hope to see you in future editions.

As for the third and last player in this match, it was your boy Totoca12. I did my ghost in the first few minutes of the round and thought I would improve later, but I just didn't, haha. The first part was quite annoying to do flawless and in the couple of times that I did, I ended up dying on this part:

    davlj.png

Also, after some time, I saw Setsu's ghost and knew I wouldn't be able to beat him, so I focused on some other stuff I had to do IRL and only did a few sporadic attempts here and there. Props to Setsu, though. Killed it. As for me, this is my 6th FRWC, haha. I was 3rd in the first one, 4th in the second one, 5th in the third one, 11th in the fourth one, 15th in the fifth one and now I finish the sixth one in 8th place. Not bad, my best performance since the 3rd edition in 2019. I finished the Qualifiers track in 11th place and then during the contest I was able to beat Rippedmagnet, HoneyBadgers, Cynosure and R1ley070, only losing to Xenom, Stevie.T and now Setsu. I had some fun, but let's now see from the outside what will happen.

EXPECTATIONS FOR THE LOSERS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS:

We'll have a great matchup. It'll be Uniior vs Setsu. Those guys are killing it. Let's pull out some stats from them in the contest:

Overall Win/Loss Ratio Since The Group Stages:

    Uniior - 5 wins/2 losses

    Setsu - 6 wins/1 loss

    Qualifiers Placement:

    Uniior - 6th (25.03)
    Setsu - 9th (26.07)

    Group Stage Match 1 Placement:

    Uniior - 4th (38.53)
    Setsu - 9th (40.23)

    Group Stage Match 2 Placement:

    Uniior - 8th (25.83)
    Setsu - 4th (25.03)

    Group Stage Match 3 Placement:

    Uniior - 4th (22.87)
    Setsu - 3rd (22.70)

    Group Stage Combined Time Placement:

    Uniior - 4th (87.23)
    Setsu - 5th (87.96)

    Group Stage Placement:

    Uniior - 2nd Place - Group 2 (6 points)
    Setsu - 1st Place - Group 2 (9 points)

    Round Of 16 Placement:

    Uniior - 6th (31.23)
    Setsu - 7th (31.40)

    Quarterfinals Placement:

    Uniior - 7th (2:00.40)
    Setsu - 5th (1:56.13)

    Semifinals Placement:

    Uniior - 7th (26.10)
    Setsu - 4th (25.77)

Total Combined Time (up to the Semifinals):

    Uniior - 289.99
    Setsu - 287.33

    Total Combined Time:

    Uniior - 380.49
    Setsu - 343.56

Average Placement (up to the Semifinals):

    Uniior - 6.00
    Setsu - 5.86

Overall Head to Head during the 8 rounds so far:

    Setsu 5 - 3 Uniior

Last 4 rounds Head to Head:

    Setsu 3 - 1 Uniior

As you can see, it seems that there's a small advantage for Setsu, but it's pretty even. Setsu won the match against Uniior in the Group Stage and ended up in first place on that group, despite coming from pot 2. Is it revenge time for Uniior? Or will Setsu secure the win once again? Setsu got 2 wins against ShamatoZ in this contest, giving no chance for a payback. Can he pull off this again? I guess only time will tell. We are still figuring out some stuff for the final track, but Reborn and Xenom are waiting to see who will join them in the 3rd Place match. Will it be Setsu, that seems to be in a slightly better form lately? Or will it be Uniior, that is more experienced in ghosting contests and that had a better start in the contest. Also, interesting fact, if Uniior becomes the Losers Champion, he'll have another opportunity for revenge, this time against Reborn, that eliminated him in the Quarterfinals. Both players are amazing and already had a solid performance in the contest, but I'm curious to see who'll prevail here.

New poll in a few minutes.

Hey, guys. What's up? First update on the times. Right now Setsu already secured a solid ghost, with a time of 50.73. Uniior is getting there, but still needs some cleaning up to do on his ghost if he wants to beat Setsu's time. Let's see what will happen. Uniior has a 58.43 time now. Earlier today the poll was showing 9 votes to Uniior and only 2 to Setsu. Now things have changed and Setsu is winning the poll by 12 votes to 9. What a comeback! Curious to see how this one will end.

There's 48 hours and 6 minutes until the end of the round.

    Update:

The final track is a collab by Max007x and Eryp and they will need a few more days to finish it. So instead of making another delay in the rounds, I decided to do this: The Losers Championship will end as planned, in a few minutes. However, we'll make the Championship Finals and the 3rd Place match two separate things for the first time, meaning that they won't be in the same round or track. During the last few rounds, I was worried that someone would delay the tracks again or that we could have another trackmaker dropping out, so we worked on some backup tracks and we did get two of those. So we are using one of those for the 3rd Place Match, and the Max/Eryp collab will be for the Championship Finals (probably in 3 days from now), that will be its own thing separate thing. I picked lightninggod's track for the 3rd Place match, so he'll be posting that soon.

There's 34 minutes until the end of the round. Let's go Setsu and Uniior! Can we see a last minute comeback from Uniior here or will Setsu get the W and advance to the 3rd Place match as the Losers Champion?
