Seems there may actually be a decent race between Cerulean and me this round due to a technicality that I did not just make up. "If a player in the winner's bracket doesn't complete the track in their match, their time in their next match gets a 5 minute penalty added" -someone important. Not sure if the 5 mins will be enough though HA. Cheers

So here we go. We have the final 8 players that are still fighting for the crown. We are going to have a new champion for sure, since Noob, Backtwice, Anonyymi and mudkip are not around. But who will it be? Many are probably pointing to RadiumRC or Cerasium, but we have many other good players in the contest that totally deserved their spots here in the Quarterfinals. WHO WILL PREVAIL? We also have a very interesting Losers Championship, we some really cool matchups. I'm excited to see who advances. But first, let's talk about the previous track.

    THE TRACK:

Yeah, I know that some of you guys weren't the biggest fans of Eryp's track. I personally liked most sections, but there was indeed a "luck factor" in some parts that could be annoying for sure. The thing is that this was kind of a last minute thing as well for Eryp, just like most of this contest, to be honest. I know that people are mostly enjoying the majority of the tracks for the contest, but none of them had too much time to be developed, so we are planning this as we go. Most things ended up running smoothly, but we had a few small problems here and there, like G-raffe's delay. When we lost 2 trackmakers kind of at the last minute, Eryp and I came as replacements. We didn't have that much time, but we did what we could, so I hope you guys understand. But I definitely get some of the complaints. I feel like a having that cut right in the beginning that was crucial to get a good time, but that was also really annoying to get was a downside for some players for sure. But at the of the day, we did have some cool matches, so gg to everyone who tried. Also thanks to Eryp for helping with the track in a short notice.

    RESULTS COMMENTARY:

    WINNERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

    Chaos-Fallen 36.03 vs 31.23 Uniior

Pretty interesting matchup. As I said in the expectations part of the last commentary post, this was a massive matchup. Chaos-Fallen has too much history in this game and Uniior is definitely on the rise in the past couple of years, so this was supposed to be interesting. And it was, although it didn't end up as close as people expected. The poll was a close 8-7 in favor of Uniior and he came through with the W. I knew this was going to be hard, but I did vote on Uniior because I thought that the better performance in the contest and the better year overall in ghosting would be the decisive factor here. And it was. Although the main factor was the fact that Uniior nailed RadiumRC's route with the cut and Chaos-Fallen wasn't able to. Props to Chaos-Fallen, though. Welcome to the Losers Championship! You got 4th place in the FRWC last year, and now you still can fight for the 3rd place this year. So let's go! Chaos-Fallen had the 12th best time in the round and Uniior had the 6th.

    Reborn 33.53 vs 34.93 adversitas

This was a close one. Reborn was the favorite to win by 14 votes to 2 against adversitas and he came through strong. Finished with the 10th best time in the round, while adversitas had the 11th. Nice battle, they pretty much had the same route, but Reborn did everything adversitas did but slightly faster. Apparently adversitas planned to try to beat Reborn again but ended up forgetting about, haha. It happens. Reborn advances to the Quarterfinals, while adversitas is moving to the Losers Championship. Congrats to both!

    RadiumRC 29.83 vs --- Cerulean

Another moment to showcase the greatness of RadiumRC. Once again RadiumRC comes early in the round, does a ghost with a different route than what's intended and then stays in 1st place during the whole round without that much trouble. It will be tough to stop this guy. The poll was an insane 15-1 against the great Cerulean. I feel like that speaks volumes about RadiumRC and his reputation right now. RadiumRC took an easy W with the 1st placed ghost in the round, especially since Cerulean didn't ghost. But apparently it wasn't that easy. Cerulean indicated that he had like a "master plan" that seemed to involve finishing in 2nd place in his group on purpose to try to eliminate RadiumRC in the Round of 16 with that last minute move that made Cerulean eliminate RedOrBlue, the favorite to win last year, in the FRWC5. However, he got busy and it backfired. We don't know if he could have pulled off that regardless, since RadiumRC does have a great time, but it's a shame we couldn't see the attempt. This literally could be a final, lol. RadiumRC comes out strong from this, eliminating a great contender, while Cerulean goes to the Losers Championship with still a chance of medal, after his 5th place in the last year's FRWC.

    Stevie.T 30.53 vs --- braw

Stevie.T is going serious at this contest, and after 3 ghosting contest medals, this should be a warning to everyone else. Yeah, of course that braw not ghosting made his job seem easier, but what a ghost from Stevie.T! He has the 4th best ghost in the round, which is really impressive! Now braw will have his chance in the Losers Championship, while Stevie.T, that was the favorite in the poll with 15 votes in his favor against 2 for braw, will advance to the Quarterfinals.

    Setsu 31.40 vs --- ShamatoZ

I'll be honest, this one was slightly disappointing, mostly because we know the potential ShamatoZ has, especially after a good ghosting year and that 1st place in the Qualifiers, so we can imagine what this match could have been, since we have a Setsu in an impressive form lately. The poll was 13-7 in favor of Setsu, and I do think that this is related to the decrement of activity from ShamatoZ in the contest while Setsu remained consistent. ShamatoZ didn't have a ghost, but is moving to the Losers Championship. As for Setsu, he had the 7th best time in the round, showing that he's here to fight until the end. Let's see what happens for him in the Quarterfinals.

    Cerasium 30.27 vs 31.83 Sidewalk

This is totally one of the best matches of the round. Held at a really high level, it was a battle between legends. Young legend Cerasium had most of the favoritism, winning the poll by 15-3 against older legend Sidewalk. In the end, people were right and the result from their great matchup in the last year's End Of Season Tournament happened once again. But it was a fair attempt from Sidewalk once again. Both players got the faster route right, but Cerasium optimized it better. Props to Cerasium, that had the 2nd best time in the round and will advance to the Quarterfinals and also to Sidewalk, that had the 8th best time in the round and will be moving to the Losers Championship.

    Cork 31.13 vs 32.67 Coated_Badger

Another really solid match. Both managed to finish well with the faster route, but Cork's optimization was superior and he got the W with a cleaner ghost. The poll was a 15-3 in favor of Cork, and he delivered. Major shoutout to Coated_Badger though, that is showing great consistency in the contest and should do good in the Losers Championship. As for Cork, he's reaching a Quarterfinals round in a FRWC, pretty solid, man! Keep it up!

    Xenom 30.43 vs 44.80 Totoca12

Yeah, I know. I know, I know, I know. What in the world was that lame ghost from me? Of course that's not my possible best, but I just didn't feel enough motivation to try in the end. First of all, I'm in the middle of a trip, so I didn't have much time to ghost, I'm handling many things regarding college and work lately so finding the time was hard. I did that ghost in the beginning of the round and then whenever the track again, Xenom already had the 30.43 time. And man, right now I can't do a ghost to match that. I'm a bit rusty, only ghosting in ghosting contests and that beginning was quite annoying with the cut, so it was hard to find motivation to try. I had a few decent attempts that were in a pace varying from a 31-34 seconds ghost, but I was never in a position to have a chance on beating Xenom, so I didn't really push that much after dying later on those runs. Sorry for not putting a decent ghost in the leaderboard and for not putting a solid fight Xenom. GG, though. I'll take my chances in the Losers Championship and he'll be advancing for the Quarterfinals. Xenom, that won the poll by 13-3, had the 3RD BEST TIME IN THE ROUND! This guy will be a threat for this year's top 3 for sure. Let's see how far he'll go. As for me, I only had the 19th best time in the round. I might try to improve my time later just to show some respect to the track, haha. Let's go, though.

PS: I actually got all of the winners from this round (in the winners championship at least) right in the poll, lol.

    LOSERS CHAMPIONSHIP

    TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 41.17 vs --- RandomTurtleBoi

Not much to say here since only TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 ghosted. Decent ghost, 18th place in the round. Not bad, man. You'll advance to the next Losers Championship stage. The poll was 12-2 in favor of CHARREDLIZARD21. As for RandomTurtleBoi, good bye, man! I know you didn't complete the last few tracks, but you were really helpful with the Qualifiers track, so I hope you enjouyed your time in the contest.

    RubeGoldberger 54.67 vs 41.90 MatthewMatthew58

One of the most anticipated Losers Championship matches in this contest so far, based on the results on the Group Stage. The poll was 13-4 in favor of Rube but we had an upset here. MatthewMatthew58 showed some good skills and beat a busy RubeGoldberger that struggled a little bit to find time to improve his ghost. With the win RubeGoldberger, that had the 21st best time in the round, does say goodbye to the contest, so I hope you enjoyed it! MatthewMatthew58, that had the 16th best time in the contest is advancing to the next Losers Championship round.

    Tubiek 1:00.90 vs 42.00 lightninggod

Props to both players for completing the track. We had a cool match here. The poll was 9-8 in favor of lightninggod and he secured the W. His ghost was the 17th best in the round, which was enough to beat Tubiek's ghost, that was the 22nd best ghost in the round. As for Tubiek, I hope you enjoyed your time in the contest. As for lightninggod, he'll advance to the next Losers Championship stage, so good luck!

    Rippedmagnet --- vs 50.57 TPlacella

We had an interesting matchup where Rippedmagnet was the clear favorite in the poll by 14 votes to 3 for TPlacella. However, TPlacella secured a ghost, getting the 20th place ghost in the round, and since Rippedmagnet didn't make a ghost, TPlacella got the W. It was an upset, so Rippedmagnet is leaving the contest (I hope you liked it), but I'm curious to see how far TPlacella can go in the Losers Championship.

    pawflix 1:10.43 vs 1:12.43 AfterImage

An interesting matchup for sure. When I did my first (and only) update in the times, only AfterImage had a ghost, so he was taking the win. However, eventually pawflix made a ghost that was exactly 2 seconds ahead of AfterImage's. Pawflix won the poll by 15-2, so in the end the favorite did win, but it wasn't that easy. AfterImage had the 24th place time in the round, while pawflix had the 23rd. Unfortunately, AfterImage is leaving the contest right now (I hope you liked it), but pawflix is advancing to the next Losers Championship round. Congrats!

    WrzodX 38.93 vs --- Overthrown

Well, this went as expected. WrzodX won in the poll (14-3) and in the track, without much trouble. WrzodX finished with a great time that was 14th place in the round and Overthrown didn't ghost. Overthrown unfortunately leaves the contest, so I hope you have enjoyed it. WrzodX will advance, although he'll have a tough task ahead of him. But let's see if he'll pull through.

    R1ley070 36.47 vs --- we_are_number_one

Another good round by R1ley070. A surprising player in the contest that once again pulled off a great ghost, the 13th best in the round. Once again, we_are_number_one didn't have a ghost, so he's unfortunately leaving the contest. I know you were probably busy and a few times wasn't too fond of the tracks, but I hope you at least had some fun. As for R1ley070, that initially didn't have any votes in the polls, but that easily won this poll by 13 votes to 3, mostly due to the great skills showed during the contest, good luck in the next Losers Championship round.

    Cynosure 41.57 vs --- HoneyBadgers

The last match from the previous round was a chill one as well. Cynosure was the favorite (14-2 in the poll for him) and he delivered. He got the 15th best time in the round and had a pretty easy win here. As for HoneyBadgers, he's leaving the contest, unfortunately. I hope you liked it. Cynosure will advance to the next Losers Championship round. Good luck!

    EXPECTATIONS FOR THE QUARTERFINALS:

    THE TRACK:

This year's Quarterfinals track is a massive track by Innominate, that it's quite challenging to fully optimize. It's mostly offroad based, but there's many places where things could go wrong like the tube parts, so it's indeed a tough challenge to complete in just 3 days. Yeah, I was a bit hesitant about having this track in the contest, since it's quite long for a dynamic tournament like this, but the OGs that were here in the first FRWC I hosted probably remember that there were some massive tracks here and there (like those https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/626955-free-rider-world-cup-3-r6 & https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/635811-grand-finale-r10-frhdworldcup), so I don't think it's a bad thing to have at least one track like this in the contest. Let's go, guys! Shoutout to Innominate for pulling this track in a relatively short amount of time, although I'm still a bit mad that you removed some of the checkpoints I suggested, lol. But good job, though.

    WINNERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

    Uniior vs Reborn

What a great matchup. Uniior has been slightly stronger in this contest, but both are doing great this year and have beaten great opponents, so I feel like this one will be a tight one. I hope the best one wins!

    RadiumRC vs Stevie.T

That's an insane matchup. Stevie.T is doing great once again in a FRWC, but RadiumRC is the main guy to be beaten this year. Can Stevie do it? This will be tough.

    Setsu vs Cerasium

Of course we can see some favoritism for Cerasium, but Setsu is showing that he can be a dangerous opponent in this contest. This guy already beat Uniior and ShamatoZ in this contest, so he'll try to come for the win here. But although Cerasium is still really young, he's already a very experienced ghoster that has won ghosting contests and that already has a podium in a FRWC. So he won't be afraid of anything. Let's see what happens.

    Cork vs Xenom

Interesting matchup. If it was like a year ago, probably Cork would be the favorite, but the evolution Xenom had in this past year and the level of ghosting he's showing in this contest makes me think that maybe the tables have turned. But Cork has shown a great level of ghosting on this contest, so I'm excited to see this one.

    LOSERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

    TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 vs Chaos-Fallen

Is it payback time for CHARREDLIZARD21? Or will Chaos-Fallen secure another win against him. Great matchup. Let's wait and see.

    MatthewMatthew58 vs adversitas

Solid matchup between players that are showing a good level of ghosting in this contest. Let's see what happens.

    lightninggod vs Cerulean

Cerulean is the favorite here, but we never know what can happen. We can always have some surprises, so let's see if lightninggod can pull off one here.

    TPlacella vs braw

A good matchup. If both players go at it I feel like it could be a very interesting one. Let's see what happens.

    pawflix vs ShamatoZ

Good matchup as well. ShamatoZ has an edge here, but pawflix is also doing great, so l'm interesting to see what happens.

    WrzodX vs Sidewalk

Wow, what a matchup. I'm kinda sad for one of them, though, since one of them will end up leaving earlier than what they deserved in this contest. R.I.P.. The next track might be a bit brutal for WrzodX due to the length, so I just hope you both can do the best you guys possibly can. Both are legends regardless of anything, though.

    R1ley070 vs Coated_Badger

If this was a matchup before this contest, probably there wouldn't be much hype for it. But after what you guys have been doing in this contest, I'm excited to see this. Let's hope the best one can prevail.

    Cynosure vs Totoca12

Cynosure? What's up, my man? Let's fight! You have been doing good in the last few rounds, so I'm interested to see how this match is going to go. Good luck!

PS: Will be updating the poll soon enough and tagging people in the track (although I'm not sure if that's necessary).

Yeah, mostly not having a huge motivation to ghost, I'm doing this contest for fun, not trying for any of the top prizes since I've got no chance
So didn't want to grind the track for hours with inconsistent parts on BMX, especially considering whether I won or lost, I'd have still ended up in the same position  would have been against cerasium, so maybe it was my secret plan to have setsu go against Cerasium all along..

gL to everyone for this round
