Second and last update on the times before the deadline. Oh, things have changed! At the top most of the things remain similar and we had a few improvements here and there but we had 2 major changes in some matchups that I'll talk in a bit. We had new ghosts being made, like from TPlacella, lightninggod, Stevie.T, Rippedmagnet and TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21, but I would like to talk about some specific matchups. 5 of them deserve a shoutout in my opinion.

The first one is Setsu (23.57) vs (23.97) pawflix that remains a very close one, let's see who will prevail! The second one is braw (23.40) vs (23.90) Cynosure, that just like the one before remains pretty tight. The third one is a new shoutout from players that haven't ghosted yet when I made the last update. It's Stevie.T (23.13) vs (24.70) Rippedmagnet, an important match from the group I'm in. With the results we have right now, since I'm winning my match, Stevie.T is qualifying in 1st place and I'm qualifying in 2nd. The fourth and fifth matches are ON FIRE. Once again, one of the most anticipated matches of the round adversitas vs WrzodX had another shift. WrzodX was leading comfortably with a great 23.70 (that still is his time), but adversitas came in hot with a relentless 23.07 time, 4th place in the round, changing the scenario of that group. Now it's adversitas and not WrzodX that is advancing to the Round of 16 alongside Cerasium on the group. Can WrzodX made a legendary comeback here? We'll have to wait and see. The fifth match I want to make a shoutout for, is also a very surprising one so far. In the last update TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 had not made a ghost on the track yet, but now not only he made one, but he also BEAT ShamatoZ in the round so far. CHARREDLIZARD21 has a 24.23 time, 20th place in the round, while ShamatoZ has a 24.33 time, 21st place in the round. Only 0.1 second is putting these 2 ghosts apart. This result is making CHARREDLIZARD21 qualify to the Round of 16, alongside Chaos-Fallen, that is from this group and is already qualified. However, ShamatoZ only needs a draw to qualify, so things can totally change in the near future.

All of the updated times you can check below:

PS: The players below have yet to complete the track if they don't want to lose a point:

    RandomTurtleBoi
    we_are_number_one
    Cerulean

PS2: There's 9 hours and 29 minutes to ghost the track, since we'll have 2 additional hours this time.

    ROUND OF 16 MATCHUPS:

We are now in the Eliminatory/Knockout Stage. Each 1st place from the 8 groups will face a 2nd place from another group from the Group Stage. In the Losers Championship we'll have something similar, but it's the 3rd places against the 4th places. In the Winner Championship players are fighting for the crown, aiming to get the 1st place medal, while in the Losers Championship people are fighting for a spot in the 3rd Place match and the chance of getting a medal. The last two 3rd places in the FRWC came from the Losers Championship, so that should be a good motivation, haha.

Track: https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/922265-frwc6-round-of-16 - Dope BMX only track made by Eryp, let's go guys!

Was about to post I haven't been active lately lol. Only spent about 10 minutes on last round's ghost. Too busy and haven't had this in mind much, so just kind of forgot. I want to improve my time because I know I can do better, but I committed to leaving contest ghosts alone for the sake of seeing my improvement over time. I guess that doesn't matter that much though now that I am caring less about the game anyway...

Maybe I'll be active this round just for you MatthewMatthew58

So we have come to the end of the Group Stage. We had 3 interesting rounds in the course of 9 days and it was cool to see how things turned out. Let's talk about this last Group Stage match and then set the expectations for the Round of 16 and the Losers Championship. Here we go!

    THE TRACK:

I wanted to talk a little bit about G-raffe's track, because it was an interesting one. The "soft-offroad style" made it not hard to complete, but a bit harder to fully optimize, but it was interesting seeing almost all of the ghosters getting decent ghosts. If we make the average time between the top 29 players we get a time of 23.96. Considering that the 1st place had a time of 22.27, I feel like the round was pretty cool.

    GROUP 1:

We had a very dramatic ending for Group 1, so let's talk about it. We had a very important match lined up for this last group stage round: ShamatoZ vs TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21. ShamatoZ only needed a draw to qualify, but things didn't work smoothly there for some time. In the beginning ShamatoZ made a ghost and CHARREDLIZARD21 took some time to ghost, so it was looking like an uneventful win. But it wasn't. Not at all! In the last day ShamatoZ had a 24.33 time, while CHARREDLIZARD21 had made a ghost and surpassed ShamatoZ's time, getting a cool 24.23 time. That result would work in favor of CHARREDLIZARD21, given the combination of results in the group, but things wouldn't end there. As advised at least 3 times during the past few days, I added 2 hours to the last round, to compensate a little bit the delay we had at the beginning of the last round and also to fit my schedule better. In the last day CHARREDLIZARD21 and ShamatoZ improved their ghosts, with ShamatoZ beating CHARREDLIZARD21 by the minimum margin of 0.03 second during those additional hours. Yeah, I get that there was a misunderstanding from the part of those players about the deadline, but I really think that things were announced properly during the round, so it is what it is. At the end of the round ShamatoZ finished with a 23.30 time, 9th place in the round, while CHARREDLIZARD21 finished with a 23.33 time, 11th place in the round. Solid performance by both players. The poll was 16-3 in favor of the 1st placed in the Qualifiers ShamatoZ, but it wasn't that easy. CHARREDLIZARD21 put up a solid fight. ShamatoZ finished with 6 points and qualified for the Round of 16 in 2nd place. CHARREDLIZARD21 finished with 1 point in the group, tied with AfterImage. But he finished in 3rd due to having a better combined time.

    What a close call:
    charred1.png

In the second match of the group, we had a more chill one. It was Chaos-Fallen vs AfterImage. Chaos-Fallen was already qualified to the Round of 16, just trying to secure his 1st place in the group, while AfterImage only had slim chances of qualifying, so things went out as expected. The poll was a brutal 16-1 in favor of Chaos-Fallen and he didn't disappoint. Chaos finished with a time of 23.63, 14th place in the round, while AfterImage ended up with a time of 25.63, 26th place in the round. In the end, Chaos-Fallen finished with a perfect score of 9 points, granting him the 1st place, which is really cool considering that he came from pot 2 and faced the 1st place in the Qualifiers. As for AfterImage, he ended up in 4th with only 1 point. Chaos-Fallen also had the 7th best combined time from the Group Stage, which totally puts him as one of the favorites to take the final trophy home. Also, shoutout to this group since all 4 players completed all of the tracks in the contest so far. The first even draw in a FRWC match was really cool as well.

    GROUP 2:

Things were less eventful for the second group in this last round. The first match was Uniior vs RandomTurtleBoi and people expected an easy win from Uniior. That was exactly what we got. The poll was a total massacre. 17-1 in favor of Uniior, and it was indeed an easy win. Uniior had an incredible 22.87 time, 4th place in the round, while RandomTurtleBoi didn't ghost the track once again. Uniior finishes with 6 points, qualifying in 2nd place for the Round of 16. He had the 4th best combined time from the group stage among all constestants, an even better combined time than Setsu's, that advanced in first place in this group. As for RandomTurtleBoi, he finished in 4th place with -2 points, only completing one track. Not sure if it was a time constraint issue or a difficulty issue, but I hope you can do better in future contests and even in the Losers Championship this year.

In the second match we had a cool match between Setsu and pawflix. Setsu was the clear favorite to win (17-1 in the poll) and he did, but pawflix had a really good ghost, crowning a solid performance from a player that was only the 32nd place in the Qualifiers. Setsu finished with a 22.70 time, 3rd best time in the round, while pawflix finished with a good 23.97 time, 20th place in the round. In the end, Setsu, that has been one of the positive surprises from this contest finished with a remarkable score of 9 points, having the 5th best combined time from the group stage, showing that he is indeed a solid contestant for the overall win at the end of the tournament. Let's see how far he'll be able to go. He came from pot 2 but was able to finish 1st place in his group, so let's see how he'll do in the Round of 16. As for pawflix, he only finished with 3 points, but for someone that was the 32nd place in the Qualifiers, finishing with the 22nd best combined time from the Group Stage was a massive improvement. Congrats, man! Good luck on the Losers Championship.

    GROUP 3:

The third group ended in the same way it was supposed to, based on the pots. Yeah, many players expected to see Sidewalk overcome Reborn in the group in the end, but after the decisive matchup was settled in the 2nd group stage match with Reborn coming out on top, things then proceed to end as it was expected. In the first match from this last Group Stage round we had a cool match between Reborn and RubeGoldberger. It was closer at some point, but it ended with a comfortable win in favor of Reborn. Reborn finished with a 23.97 time, 20th place in the round, while RubeGoldberger finished with a 25.97 time, 27th place in the round. In the end, Reborn made a solid statement, securing the 1st place in a tough group with a perfect score of 9 points, which will lead him to the Round of 16. Let's see how good he can do there. As for RubeGoldberger, he ended in 3rd place with 3 points. Not bad, man!

As for the second match, Sidewalk faced Overthrown in order to secure his spot in the Round of 16 and he didn't have a problem on doing that. Another big 17-1 in the poll, this time in favor of Sidewalk, and he easily got the job done. Sidewalk finished the round with a solid 23.77 time, 16th place in the round, while Overthrown finished with a 27.70 time, 29th place in the round. In the end, Sidewalk finished in 2nd place in this group with 6 points, even though he has the best group stage combined time from this group (8th place overall). He's a dangerous opponent so we should watch out for him in the Round of 16. As for Overthrown, he finished in 4th place with -1 point and will now go to the Losers Championship. Good luck, guys!

    GROUP 4:

Group 4 ended in a very interesting way, with a cool battle for the 2nd place. Also, this group was really good overall, since all 4 players really tried and put some effort whenever it mattered. All players completed every single track, so it was cool seeing an active group like this. In the first match we had a more chill match, since it was cestoiolemsater/Cerasium just confirming his favoritism against MatthewMatthew58. The poll was 16-3 in favor of Cerasium and he crushed it once again. Cerasium finished with a dope 22.30 time, 2nd place in the round, while Matthew finished with a respectable 25.07. Cerasium finished in 1st place with 9 points, winning all of the matches and having THE BEST COMBINED TIME from the group stage. He's someone that is coming for the crown for sure, but the path isn't easy. Let's see how far he'll go. As for MatthewMatthew58, if the Round of 16 was made in a league system that only counted the combined time, he would be there, since he got the 16th best combined time from the Group Stage, better than adversitas's for example, that qualified in this group. Unfortunately, that's not how it works here, but props for the performance for sure. He finished with no points, but he did well. Good luck on the Losers Championship!

As for the second match of this group, it was one of the most anticipated ones for sure. We are talking about adversitas vs WrzodX. Of course that when this group was announced, adversitas was a favorite to advance alongside Cerasium, but as the rounds started progressing, WrzodX was showing a good form and some experience, so he came into the last group stage match only needing a draw to advance to the Round of 16. If he suceeded at that, it would be a historic moment, considering that I don't think we ever had someone from pot 4 advancing to the Round of 16. But that still wasn't the right time for that. It was a dope round, though. The poll was a draw only for the 2nd time in this contest (after Stevie.T vs Totoca12, rip), 9 votes for each player. The round started with a really dope ghost from WrzodX, a pretty solid 23.70 time. In the first update on the times WrzodX had the lead, since adversitas only had a 25.40 time. However, in the last day, adversitas managed to get a great shortcut that not even the top players in the leaderboard got, which transformed an average ghost in a winning move against the brave non-spacebarrer WrzodX.

Here's an image with the lead WrzodX had and another with the part of the track where adversitas got the cut:

    adversitas2.png

    adversitas1.png

With these results, adversitas advanced in 2nd place with 6 points, getting a good ghost whenever it mattered, despiting having the worse group stage combined time of the group. Great effort there! As for WrzodX, epic effort, great ghosts. You had the 2nd best combined time from your group, the 15th best overall, which is remarkable coming from pot 4. You finished with 3 points in 3rd place and will now play in the Losers Championship. Good luck!

    GROUP 5:

There wasn't any competition in Group 5 in this last group stage round. In the first match we had one of the favorites for the win in FRWC6 RadiumRC face Tubiek. The poll was a big 16-2 in favor of Radium, but the reality was of more disparity than that. RadiumRC finished without much effort with a 23.17 time, 8th place in the round, while Tubiek got a curious time of 4:20.17, 30th place in the round. RadiumRC got 3 chill wins and finished with 9 points, having the 2nd best group stage combined time, so he's totally coming for the crown this year. He wasn't a very experienced ghoster when he joined the FRWC5 last year (he still finished in 11th, though), but so much has changed since then, so he's coming for the trophy this time. As for Tubiek, he finished in 3rd place with 3 points and will be playing in the Losers Championship. Good luck!

In the second match we had Coated_Badger vs we_are_number_one. Coated_Badger is showing an incredible consistency in the contest this year and got an easy win with a great 23.50 time, 13th place in the round. Unfortunately, we_are_number_one didn't ghost once again. The poll was 13-5 for Coated_Badger and he didn't disappoint. Now Coated_Badger advances to the Round of 16, after finishing the group stage in 2nd place with 6 points. As for we_are_number_one, he'll be in the Losers Championship after finishing the group stage in 4th place with -2 points. Good luck, guys!

    GROUP 6:

In the 6th group we had some cool matches, but nothing surprising. In the first match we had Cerulean vs R1ley070. It was an interesting one mostly because Cerulean decided to ghost only in the last few hours and a simple draw would qualify R1ley070, but whenever Cerulean did a ghost, it was a clean win, without much trouble. The poll was 16-3 in favor of Cerulean and he took the W with a solid 22.87, 4th place in the round. R1ley070 did a good 23.80, 18th place in the round. As for Cerulean, he advanced to the Round of 16 after finishing in 2nd place on his group with 6 points. R1ley070 finished 3rd place in the group with 3 points, after a very respectable performance in the group stage. He finished the group stage with a better combined time than Cerulean, with the 14th best combined time overall. Quite impressive for one of the least voted players to advance in the Qualifiers. Solid performance, man! Keep it up in the Losers Championship!

The second match of the group was between Cork and lightninggod. The poll indicated a clear win for Cork, since it was 17 votes to 1 in favor of Cork. The reality matched up the expectations. Cork did a great ghost, finishing with a time of 23.30, 9th place in the round, that was more than enough to beat lightninggod's 25.23 time, that was the 25th place in the round. Cork finishes the group stage undefeated, with 9 points and the 1st place. As for lightninggod, he finished in 4th place with no points, but major respect for completing all tracks so far and good luck in the Losers Championship.

    GROUP 7:

The end of the 7th group was also pretty chill. The first match was between Stevie.T and Rippedmagnet. A great matchup? Yes, but also one with a clear favorite. 15 votes for Stevie against only 3 for Rippedmagnet in the poll. The results where also what it was expected, although both players didn't ghost the track in the beginning. After the first update on the times, none of them had ghosts in the track, so I was unsure of what to expect in the end, but they both ended up securing good ghosts in the track. Stevie.T finished with a 23.13 time, 7th place in the round, while Rippedmagnet finished with a 24.70 time, the 23rd best time in the round. With this result Stevie.T keeps it 100%, with 3 straight wins in a tough group, 9 points and the 6th best group stage combined time. Someone to watch out for sure. Stevie has a top 3 medal from a FRWC already and 2 other ghosting contest medals from the GBC, so he's not someone you want to play with. Let's see how he'll do in the Round of 16 after advancing in the group stage with the 1st place in his group. As for Rippedmagnet, he finished in 3rd place with 3 points and will now play in the Losers Championship. Good performance from him so far, that got the 13th best group stage combined time. Not bad.

In the second match, we had your boy Totoca12 facing HoneyBadgers. The poll was 15-2 in my favor and I did enough to win. I finished with a 23.77 time, 16th place in the round, while HoneyBadgers got a 26.67 time, that was 28th place in the round. I finished with 6 points in 2nd place, advancing to the Round og 16 (improvement from last year, lol) while HoneyBadgers ended up in 4th place with -1 point and will play in the Losers Championship now.

    GROUP 8:

No big surprises in Group 8, but we still had some cool performances. In the first match we had young legend in the making Xenom defeating TPlacella with a legendary 22.27 time, that ended up being 1ST PLACE IN THE ROUND! Wow! The guy is on fire! I'm afraid for whoever will have to face him in the Round of 16 (r.i.p. me). TPlacella did a decent 24.17 time, that was 22nd place in the round. The result just confirmed the expectation in the poll that was a 17-2 in favor of Xenom. Xenom finishes in 1st place in the group with 9 points and the 3rd best group stage combined time, just behind Cerasium and RadiumRC. This man is a menace, let's see how far can he go. TPlacella finished in 4th place with -1 point and will play in the Losers Championship.

The last match of the group was a good one. It was braw vs Cynosure. This time we had the 3rd draw in the poll for this contest. 10 votes for braw but also 10 votes for Cynosure. It ended up being a close match, but braw came through on top with a time of 23.40, 12th place in the round, that was good enough to beat Cynosure's 23.90 time, 19th place in the round. In the end braw finished the group stage with 6 points in 2nd place, while Cynosure finished in 3rd place with 2 points. We'll have braw in the Round of 16 and Cynosure in the Losers Championship. Congrats, guys!

QUICK EXPECTATIONS FOR THE ROUND OF 16:

    WINNERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

Chaos-Fallen vs Uniior - Massive matchup. Chaos-Fallen is a legend, has the legendary ghoster medal, has a medal in a ghosting contest and knows how to play this kind of matches. He's the 14th place in the all-time top 100 ghosters list for FRHD. He also left ShamatoZ behind on his group and had the 7th best group stage combined time. As for Uniior, he's someone that has been growing and improving a lot over the years and reached his peak (so far) this year, with lots of features, pro ghoster medal, ghosting awards, major improvements in the top 100 list among other things. He has the 4th best group stage combined time. A tough opponent to beat. What a match!
Reborn vs adversitas - Pretty interesting matchup. Two ghosters that are around for ages and are top 40 in the top 100 list. They had some interesting achievements here and there over the years, although they are not always that much recognized by some players. Reborn got a very meaningful 1st place in a a group that also had Sidewalk, and adversitas had a major comeback in the last round against WrzodX, so I can expect a great battle.
RadiumRC vs Cerulean - WOW! This could have been the final if we are talking about peak RadiumRC and peak Cerulean. We are talking about the 1st and the 7th player in the all time FRHD top 100 ghosters list. We are talking about a RadiumRC that won the ghoster of the year award in the FRHD Awards last year and is lined up to do something similar this year, based on the amount of features and ghosting awards he has gotten lately. We are also talking about a RadiumRC that also is 1st place in the Official Featured Ghosts leaderboard and that is having a great year in ghosting. A guy that already has 2 ghosting contest medals (top 5 in the ORG and 1st place in the End Of Season Tournament) and that is not even going that hard so far in the contest (and still had the 2nd best group stage combined time). In the other side, we have a Cerulean that just like Radium was once the 1st place in the Official Featured Ghosts leaderboard, beating the legendary record by Anonyymi at the time. A Cerulean that dominated the ghosting scene whenever he arrived, that changed tube ghosting forever and that has won ghosting contests, just like Radium. He won the GBC3 last year, got in the top 5 in the last FRWC, with major wins over Madara and RedOrBlue. Just like RadiumRC, he's a guy that had the legendary ghoster medal and that could bring the heat for this match if he is up for it.
Stevie.T vs braw - Good matchup for sure. Yeah, with 3 ghosting contest medals and a recognized ghoster on his belt, of course that Stevie.T is the clear favorite here, but braw is doing some good ghosting in this contest, so I'm curious if he can pull off this upset. Last year Stevie.T had an epic Group Stage performance and was surprised by a beginner DrChill, so we never know what can happen.
Setsu vs ShamatoZ - This is an insane matchup. Setsu is without a doubt one of the surprises of this contest. He was in this year's top 100 list, but he's showing a really insane level of ghosting on this contest, enough to face most top players. Setsu had the 5th best group stage combined time, so he's someone to fear for sure. In the other side we have ShamatoZ, that was the 1st place in the qualifiers and has been having a great year. Pro ghoster medal, ghosting awards, major improvement in the top 100 list among other things. It's not easy beating ShamatoZ this year, but I'm pretty sure Setsu will try. I wonder what we'll got if we have a battle with these two at their full potential.
Cerasium vs Sidewalk - This could have been a final as well. The 5th place vs the 8th place in the FRHD All-Time top 100 Ghosters List. The 2nd vs the 7th place in the Official Featured Ghosts leaderboard. The player that the Ghosting Awards team voted as the best ghoster of 2021 against one of the legends of this game. 2 legendary ghoster medal winners, 2 guys that at some point were the best player at the moment. What a match! Yeah, maybe the last few months and the performance in the contest show some favoritism to Cerasium, but if this match has any resemblance to their match in the End Of Season Tournament last year, we can expect an insane match.
Cork vs Coated_Badger - Pretty solid match. Cork is showing a great level of ghosting in this contest and Coated_Badger is showing a major improvement compared to previous editions of the contest. In other times, this could be a no brainer in terms of picking who would win, but I feel like we could have an interesting match here.
Xenom vs Totoca12 - Rest In Peace T12. I might have more features, more ghosting contest medals, more experience in ghosting contests in general, more history in the game, a better placement in the top 100 list for now, but I doubt that anyone thinks I'm favorite on this one, lol. Xenom is having a great year in ghosting and is ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING in this contest. The 3rd best combined time in the group stage, a 1st place in the last round and much more! Of course I'll try and I'm already happy for making to the Round of 16 this time, but I think this one is leaning towards the younger side. But who knows?

    LOSERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

TypicalEshay/CHARREDLIZARD21 vs RandomTurtleBoi - Cool matchup. I think it's leaning towards CHARREDLIZARD21 but I feel like it could be interesting.
RubeGoldberger vs MatthewMatthew58 - Dope matchup. Rube's group stage combined time was of 103.80, while Matthew's group stage combined time was of 103.30. The 17th and 16th places in that aspect, respectively. So it's a really close matchup, I'm excited to see it.
Tubiek vs lightninggod - Good matchup. I think it could be a pretty even one. Let's see who will prevail.
Rippedmagnet vs TPlacella - Dope matchup. Both of them are great ghosters, so I'm expecting a good match. Maybe Rippedmagned has a slight advantage, but who knows?
pawflix vs AfterImage - Very cool matchup. Both players had very respectable performances in the group stage, so I'm expecting a cool match.
WrzodX vs Overthrown - Nice one. WrzodX has the advantage here in my opinion, after his great group stage performance, so let's see if he can confirm that.
R1ley070 vs we_are_number_one - If we go by activity right now, R1ley070 is probably the favorite, since we_are_number_one didn't ghost 2 of the 3 group stage tracks, but if they both bring it all, it can be an interesting matchup.
Cynosure vs HoneyBadgers - Nice one. Maybe Cynosure has an advantage, but I don't think it's that big. Let's see what happens.

PS: Update in the poll soon.
PS2: There's 50 hours and 37 minutes until the end of the round.

Reborn, AfterImage, R1ley070 and 12 others like this.
