    REMIX CONTEST 3 - ROUND 1

First off thank you to everyone who has decided to join, we had some very high quality entries during the practice round, which makes me super excited for the contest going forward. For the 1st round of the remix contest I decided to do a track a bit different, in which, I see loads of potential for remixing by the way its shaped and designed. The track is Tribute to Vapaa by Mickey Mouse Inc, a very fun trialish factory. I have done some collaborations with MMi in the past and I personally know what he makes is easy to work with, I feel the same about this one. The codes are in the links below, remember think of this as your track and go crazy with it. Good luck.

Round 1 ends Jan. 17th, a few extra days to have it line up with a Sunday

    Practice Round Review

Thank you to everyone who has joined and everyone chose to participate in the practice round. Most of you guys that have already made a remix for the practice round I have sent my thoughts to through pm. The ones I haven't said anything about can see my thoughts here. The practice round is unranked, but useful because I do not want anyone to struggle grasping the concept during the contest itself AND it's pretty fun :) Those of you who haven't posted your entry on frhd yet *cough* alexander and mR..A *cough* please post it here. I think it's beneficial to everyone to see the possibilities a remix can have. My favorite (which I wouldn't necessarily rank 1st) I put pssst's pick next to and alexander's favorite I put alex's pick next to (alex is tsunami if you didn't know).

alexander - Day at the Skatepark: It must've been weird remixing your own track, but it also is fascinating to me since you chose to expand on the original skatepark theme. I love the simplicity of the park, especially that lone tree. I also fooled around on it, and it is a much funner track for trick ghosting now than the original, I carried that lone slow-mo to the other side of the track before dying. This will go on my list of rainy day fun tracks. Thumbs up.

RiderExtreme2 - Tsunami (Remix): I can't express how much I love how you modified the ramp on the far left to look like a wave (thus pun on tsunami), it might've just been a coincidence since it's undetailed, but if it was intentional major major props to you. I love the small things like that, including the angel goal at the end. I loved how you took the skatepark idea and converted it into a city-like environment, if you did this and it was amped up detail-wise it would've blown me away.

Egghead - Tsunami (Egghead Remix): Looking back at this, it's not as big of a departure from the original as I first thought. But it holds it's own as a great practice entry, and I see your ability to connect pieces of the track together through modification. So, I see where you can go in this contest, you just need to throw in more of your style into it. Back to me loving the small things though, I love what you did with the board.

Ficus - Tsunami (Ficus Remix): Dude. You are like a ghosting god, and you turned an extremely easy skatepark into one of the most original and challenging trials ever. Not to mention you made me ragequit, which is something I very rarely do. All the modifications to the track are great. But like I said before, detail up, the detail it has isn't bad, there's just a lack of. Find something that fits you and roll with it.

TiMartin1069 - Ridin' da Rails: Honestly, this feels like a throwback to when tracks were made for fun. A very nostalgic time for me. It might not seem like this for all that I do, but I still play solely for the fun of the game and this track is very fun. I love how you expanded the track on both sides, to make an even bigger skatepark. And thank you for taking my advice on the bricks, it looked like a painfully long process to fill the whole thing in and this right here looks just as good. Thumbs up.

FOIL - Intimacy (RCE Practice Round): The part where you go underground and up and around to the boost oh my god tho. That might be one of the singular most fun track parts of all time for me, those of you who are doing it the fast way are missing out. But other than that, the part where you turn and switch up with the gravities was sort of fun, but random to me idk why. It's similar to ficus's block but that didn't feel random. Must be the placing or something to me. But it's all for fun, just needs some more detail then you're set. Thumbs up.

Elibloodthirst - Friday Night REMIX PRACTISE: Titties. Honestly, it was a really good drawing; could've even been a statue in the middle of the track. But I love the modifications to the track you made into relation of your version's detail, especially the umbrella. I also loved the houses. Now it's apparent you are willing to pull out all the stops, maybe boobies and frporn could be the new thing. Thumbs up. Giggidy.

Ness - tsu cube: My nigguh, my nigguh. This was dope my nigguh. It's amazing to me that people can have such definitive styles within a genre, most skateparks are generic, but whenever I see yours I always know it. On that note, I love your copyrighted ability to put 3 dimensions into a track. The cluster of cubes and the ramp to the left of it, I just loved. Also, the N flag and the herp and derp never hurt. Thumbs up.

mR..A - (posted on bhr): pssst's pick Please upload this here ASAP, everyone needs to see how amazing it is. You and ficus both turned the tracks into trials, but I love so much how well you used what was already present in the track and built off of it. This might be the funnest trial I've ever played, as soon as I get to the library at the college (which has 3 key keyboards and amazing internet) I'm going to put as good of a ghost on it as I can, because I've been playing this track in my head for a few days now and it's killing me. Thumbs up.

crane - malevolent: If I was ranking this round, this one would have a very strong case for 1st place. This is the 1st track of yours that I played the whole way through and it is amazing. When, I saw that witch hanging I was like "damn this is some real **** right here" and it struck my heart. When you play the game for fun like I do and you see something or play a certain part of a track it grabs you by the feels, and I got some feels when I saw that. Not to mention, I just got done learning about the Salem Witch Trials in my American History class, which might be a coincidence or hopefully divine intervention. Thumbs up.

Cataclysm - RX3PE: Wired by Cataclysm: alex's pick Alex says he thinks it's the most creative, and I agree 100%. Frankly, I've never played a track that looks like this, and since there is a method to the madness, I'm amazed by how well it's done. And now that I think about it, this would also have a strong case for 1st. I'm glad you're deciding to use this contest as a learning tool for getting used to your tablet, this is some pretty sweet stuff. +1 on the Wired text too. Thumbs up.

YoYo124 - Tsunami 003 [REMIX]: TRICK GHOSTING YAY!!! Too bad, frhd doesn't support that. This track now that you did something with it, is now trick heaven. Dark smoke's ghost on cr straight up gave me chills. Anyways, I love how you continued upon the skatepark idea and made it loads funner. I'm not gonna stress about the absence of detail, because I know exactly what you were going for and it fits well. Also, I won't be recruiting you for my spelling bee team. Thumbs up.

WheelieMaker - Peace: Kid Cudi though. I also loved the plant thing which I'm pretty sure is from Mario. As you can tell by my glasses, I'm a nerd so I like stuff like that. Anyways the half pipe you jump into was pretty sweet, I love riding the simple skatepark stuff like that. They're loads of fun to me. All in all, the modifications were great and I expect to see awesome stuff next. Thumbs up.

codrey - Remix CE: A bit o' nature: I thought the rocks were awesome for a starter, and that might just be your style, I'm forcing myself to visually compare it. The trees, all look different though, and don't seem to be different kinds of trees, just random tree designs. If you're gonna do nature detail make a style for yourself and stick with it. The track though, I love how you directed it, which for a goalless track is always neat to see. I'm eager to see what you can come up with next.

Hope everyone got something out of my thoughts. Have fun with Round 1!

    e; alex uploaded his. fixed
