OA so easy?

But the rules changed before we became admins and even Char said at one point that you should only ask on forums to get OA. The thing is that there's just a small percentage of players in the game that are on the forums, so if you are on the forums asking for OA you probably care for the game, either because you think OA means anything now or because you want to make more tracks. Either way, you care for the community. So I feel like eventually the older devs/admins got tired to have to look through hundreds and hundreds of tracks everyday to decide if a player should have OA or not and decided to keep it for everyone who asked, since that still is a small part of the community as a whole.

This "new rule" was kinda forgotten because Stig, Max007x and mR..A eventually got busier and/or more inactive on forums and stopped getting people OA in general (although they still did it once in a while). When Eryp and I where promoted to admins, we decided to keep that "rule", because it's pointless to have requirements for OA anymore. Many people had already gotten OA "without deserving" it, so I feel like we can't make it fair anymore, unless we go through judging every single track in the database (over 800.000) and deciding who should get OA and who shouldn't. We are not doing that (PS: Also, removing OA from some people could be very problematic). So for now, OA is more like a "reward for active users" that want to still make tracks for the community, while we have some stuff like Elite Authors or VIPs in the forums to highlight the "best players", usually from a trackmaking standpoint. Is it the ideal? No, since you only get some forum abilities with VIP or Elite Author, but that's what we had before we became admins, and it would be insanely problematic to change it now. I hope people understand that.

Pretty much the VIPs choose new VIPs. It's only for the players that have made the most contributions to this game, not even Eryp and I have it.

Feel a little late to the party, but yeah there are definitely aspects of oa that I like and parts that I don't. Personally I've found that there is much more lucrative and more valuable achievements to be had, for instance vip, or awards like frhd member of, recognized / awarded / pro ghoster and or track maker, etc.

OA to me is just kinda like base camp, it's the first thing on the bucket list and is the easiest thing to make because literally all you have to do is make good tracks and then ask for it.

I wouldn't either, but the rabbit hole of handing out oa just because has been dug so deep that we can't go back to how it was and we can't start doing it now because people will be mad that other's didnt have to work for it.

can they just wipe it out for everyone, raise the standards and then start giving it back? Idk how this game works but that's what I would do

Well yes you can but that would piss an absurd number of people off who don't have forums or aren't active on forums and just got their oa title stripped

Tokpanlegend's Idea has some truth to it tho, but it would take forever to hand them back out... So many people have the title now, and I get why totoca and eryp does it, since he expained this, but still, I feel like many people get it who don't really deserve it.
