      This is one of the main reasons that separates trackmaking and ghosting in contests. In a trackmaking contest you can't know how well your opposition is doing so to have an actual chance of winning you have to constantly put in 100% which is a great way to improve your skills at trackmaking in general. sure Ghosting takes more technical skill than ghosting but if you know how your opponent's doing you can usually always out maneuver them with effort. Contest trackmaking is blind leap in regards to how well you do compared to everyone else.

      either way if you have nothing to do you might as well put effort into participating since contests are the main source of skill progression in this game.
